Outside of Kaiser on Thursdays:There is an Indian food vendor who has sold me spoiled food (chicken tikka masala) twice! I stopped by this past Thursday and told him that I had chicken tikka masala once and that it was rotten so he apologized and gave me one (from his cooler). I told him that he needs more ice because his food is sitting in the sun. Well, when I hesitantly opened the new container, and smelled it, I almost vomited on the spot. It was spoiled, again. I kept dry heaving as I ran it to my outdoor trash can. It was so bad. I would like a health inspector to check his food. I cannot be the only person who has received spoiled food from that stand 2 times! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, never a third time.

Small but suitable farmers market. Good prices for the most part. Nice during the summer time as well.

If you're coming here looking for anything other than a few fruits and basic vegetable needs, skip it. Unique finds like okra and cranberry beans, one stand had farm fresh eggs, but not much to choose from. Worth checking out to support your local market but don't expect to leave with bagfuls.

I love this market because it's the closest to me and they have a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. I appreciate it. The problem is that they have barriers, ropes, around the vendors, but no instructions so people walk in from both sides of the rope and there is no order. People are wearing masks which is good. When I come here I can get fresh fruits and veggies from local markets at a decent price and that's why they have five stars. They aren't perfect, but they have what I need.

Love this farmers market for produce-- Asian specific produce. There is one stall in particular that has an array of Asian greens, herbs, eggplants, tomatoes, peppers and chilis, etc. Really great prices-- pretty sure they're not organic, but it's California, Central Valley grown. Kettle corn stand, sometimes a food stand selling pupusas, egg lady, a few fruit stands and one guy selling corn, onions, potatoes, beets, and other greens. Like that it's relatively small. You can park in the lot, or on the street right next to where the market is located. Early morning is best-- stalls sell until sold out or until about 3:30pm.

Pretty small farmer's market, used to be much bigger when I was younger, but it's still definitely a local's spot. It's typically a go to place for fresh Asian veggies and herbs. Inexpensive (about a dollar and some change per bunch) good quality looking produce. Not sure sure if the produce is organic. There's usually the same booths every week, an egg lady, kettle corn, veggies, fruits, and a guy selling things. It's best to go early in the morning as it's hard to predict what time they booths close and there's more to choose from. But if you go later in the day, I heard the produce is sometimes discounted. No need to bring your own bag unless you want to lower your carbon footprint, the booths give out bags for your produce.

Downtown Richmond has a mid-size Farmer's Market every Friday morning and early afternoon, in the parking lot of to the City Hall complex. Despite what the website says, things start to shut down around 2 pm. Not the fanciest farmer's market in the East Bay, but it's a great community asset and worth stopping by if you live in the area.Advantages include low prices, fresh orchard fruit, a couple of vendors selling a variety of interesting Asian vegetables, a good bakery (try their pain au chocolat), and a couple of flea-market style clothing vendors. Disadvantages: few, if any organics and lousy hours. Would be great if they stayed open into the early evening so us working stiffs can stop by on our way home? Still, the neighborhood cognoscenti say it's steadily improved over the last couple years, and it's likely to continue to do so as Richmond is enjoying a mini-Renaissance.

I like this market a lot. The atmosphere is friendly. There are a couple of food trucks in case you need something right now. The produce stands are great, and the prices are very reasonable. The fruit stands are good, too, but the prices there are pretty much the same as they are in other neighborhoods. No great deal on fresh fruit. Come and support this good local market. Food stamps are honored here.I notice that the site says the hours are 9 to 5. I don't think the vendors stay that long. Come early if you can.

This is the best market in the East Bay. My wife and I enjoy coming here on Fridays because we want to support this mark especially. I have met some really amazing farmers here and the produce is always very fresh and is grown locally. I hope more people discover this market.
