Good place, lots of variety. I tried one of there Pork Vietnamese sandwiches today. I have to give it a thumbs down, way too much bread and the contents are just so so. Kim's on Solano has much better sandwiches.

I'm not sure if this area is considered Downtown Kensington, but this amounts to the only place in town where you could sit down a spell and have a cup of tea. In fact, there's quite a selection of teas here if you can make out the print on the jars placed on the shelves (photo: http://bit.ly/2zvGIbB). A cup ranges from $2.50 to $4 depending on how artisan the tea is. I was able to enjoy the Chai Masala for $2.50 on my most recent jaunt here (photo: http://bit.ly/2DOThSL). If tea doesn't float your boat, then there's the Raxakoul Coffee used in all their coffee drinks and consequently the updated name of this hodgepodge of a place. But wait, there's more, a whole lot more if you're in need of gourmet food items like Italian truffles and cheese of course, housemade dessert treats (photo: http://bit.ly/2kXVZ0p), or even a French coffee press. They make meat and cheese platters, holiday pies, and gift baskets, options I'll likely take advantage of if Jamie W. and I ever turn into the East Bay version of Ina Garten and her absent husband Jeffrey and throw a dinner party. How easy is that? Anyhow, I will continue to take advantage of their teas and count my blessings that I have a place to go for that last-minute pannetone. Like that would happen.TEA - 4 stars...quite a selectionAMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...they have a lot squeezed in thereSERVICE - 3.5 stars...staff is nicer than the management TOTAL - 4 stars...how easy is that?

It's not clear what's going on here. I want to support a local business, especially if it's family-owned, but it's hard to understand why this place is so mediocre and untrustworthy when it has such a great location and is surrounded by people with too much disposable income. I can only imagine that the well-to-do in Kensington just don't mind overpaying for expired cheese and other past-due perishables.I don't particularly trust what I'm told here when I ask where a product comes from or when it was packed for sale. They say the pizza comes from "a local vendor down the hill," and I guess by that they mean Costco? Because it's the same pizza. Others here have noted how they have encountered other retail items here that are being resold at a premium. That just feels dishonest.I asked when a particular tranche of cheese was packed (it had no date) and the person working there appeared to make up some things from the top of their head. It doesn't feel good to be treated like a dumb-dumb.I'm disturbed to read another reviewer who noticed this place taking free food for poor families from the WCCUSD school district (of which there are many, many in need!) and then selling it for profit. That is low, down, and dirty behavior and tantamount to theft from needy children. Literally stealing candy from babies? On top of all this, they charge 3.5% of you don't pay cash, and refuse all exchanges and refunds on the bunk products they sell. That's a lot of trouble just to risk food poisoning. This place could make a fortune if it just offered a walkable place to drink coffee and enjoy a pastry. How hard could it be? As it stands, the village in Kensington desperately needs some worthwhile third spaces.

This place is Meh...used to be really nice when it first opened, now it's not. Service is bad, there's nothing unique about it. I prefer the coffee and cheese store on Hopkins at Monterey in Berkeley...nicer, smaller, but nicer...and they care about their customers.
