has a good variety of rolls appetizers and simple rolls which i liked. we ordered the 4 special rolls (sakura, negi hama, rantei, crunchy salmon, fried dynamite) and one simple roll with 3 appetizers (agedashi tofu, tako wasabi, and short ribs) and that was a good amount for the 4 of us! solid spot for sushi and no wait on wednesday night. my favorite was the sakura and negi hama roll - good amount of sear on the salmon and the negi hama was so fresh also loved the tako wasabi and it's always my favorite!! i'll be coming back next time for chriashi or for a solo meal at the counter! also incredible interior

They got fresh sashimi and delicious chicken skewers and you can book a private room where you can sit on your knees just like they do in Japan or in anime . Loved the cute paper sliding doors and the whole aesthetic! I need to go back for some sushi rolls because the fish taste like top quality! We even got to experience eating monkfish liver! I won't lie, I was a little thrown off at first due to my dislike of any liver but their home made ankimo sauce they used made it taste so good! There omakase sashimi changes depending on their fresh catches, I loved the oyster, snapper and amebi! My favorite was their kaisen don! Love how thick and juicy the cuts are! Literally melts in your mouth

I remember years ago Rantei's Kaisen Don went viral on social media and I've been wanting to visit since then. I knew that the next time I was in the Bay Area I had to come here. Recently I found myself in the Bay Area so I wanted to see if the hype was still real there after all this time - it was. I came closer an hour till closing and it was packed. I ordered the Kaisen Don and wow, the hype really was true. It was pretty and very fulfilling. My only critique is that it felt very rice and crab heavy, but overall worth it. I got pretty full from that alone but I'd definitely come back.

One of the best sushi places we've ever tried!- Kaisen Don: SO worth it! It has Uni, scallops, fresh crab meat. This was definitely the star of the show. If you don't get anything else on this list, get this! - Omakase Sashimi: 16 pieces total, such a great plate for couples to try a little bit of everything! Beautiful plating as well- Hamachi carpaccio: So delicious! 6 pieces total with delicious onion vinaigrette - Snow crab appetizer: Delicious! Such a great starter- Bay scallop roll: We were so full we couldn't finish this, but it was very savory and filling. Parking is ample and plentiful around the plaza. We would come here again! Service was awesome and very accommodating! The staff is very fast and nice.

Rantei Japanese Cuisine is a very solid sushi restaurant. It seems to be a popular spot for locals, so if you can, try to get a reservation ahead of time during prime dining hours. We had to wait a bit to enter, but it was well worth it. The customer service was fantastic, and the interior was very homey. For our large group, we were seated in one of their private dining rooms where shoes were to be removed. This created a very authentic Japanese dining experience, which I enjoyed a lot.Their menu offers many options to choose from, including a variety of sushi plates, sashimi, entrees, appetizers, noodles, and more. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. As you can see from the picture, my group was having a feast! Definitely a solid restaurant--I would highly recommend it.

I don't remember how I found out about Rantei, but I am very happy I did. I've been there a few times and it's always been a good experience. This is the average of those visits.Food: I've had the box, and individual sushi's. Both are very good, but the box is, imho, phenomenal. The rice, and fish choice is delicious. It became a go to and I always savor the meal. The balance between the ingredients and the choice of them is great. The only dessert I've had here is the waffle taco. So good. Not too sweet, a lot softer than it looks, and the filling is a flavored whipped cream that's very light and enjoyable. A great cap to a meal.Ambiance: it's a really nice joint. Medium to large. The vibe is nice. I usually sit at the bar and that's very comfortable for a solo dinner. Couples seem to have fun up there as well.Service: good. No issues there. They're a bit busy usually so it may take a moment to get started and end, but once you place your order you can expect a timely delivery. Overall, great spot. Recommend a visit.
