They're literally ALWAYS closed. Like can you PLEASE expand your hours... And while at it, can you please make sure you aren't out of things.

I have been wanting to come to this place since they opened. My husband and I came atLunch and shared a lox bagel and a sweet and spicy with honey and Serrano. The food was really tasty. We were lucky enough to get a seat on the windows and it felt nice to sit and enjoy the neighborhood with some really good bagels. The bagels had a good toast to them and were soft on the inside. I also got a cold brew coffee that was yum! The staff was super friendly and very patient with me as a first timer. This place gets really busy. I would recommend when you're in the telegraph neighborhood grab a bagel.

I heard a lot about Poppy Bagels and I can report that it is worth the hype! High quality bagels can be hard to come by in the Bay Area, so this place is definitely a gem.Don't be intimidated by the line and crowd of people waiting for their bagels. I came on a Saturday morning and the line moved quickly. Service was efficient and I got my order pretty quickly. There are a few tables inside, but I would recommend sitting on the back patio. The patio has many wooden tables. There were many bagel types that weren't available when I got to the front of the line, so I opted for a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese. My friend asked about a type that wasn't there and they said she could order it if she was willing to wait for the next batch, so I would ask if you don't see what you're looking for. The menu offers a variety of cream cheese flavors, toppings, and pre-set sandwich options. If I came on a weekday, I would love to try the egg sandwich with an added hash brown. My plain bagel with scallion cream cheese was delicious! The bagel had a great chew. The scallion cream cheese provides a savoriness that contrasted with the slight sweetness of the bagel. The cream cheese was very generously smeared on. My only gripe, if I had any, would be that the bagel was a tad small for the price. Unfortunately, most good bagels aren't cheap. If you're looking for good quality bagels and a place to sit down with friends, this is the spot!

Noticed a long line on a Saturday morning. Line goes by quick. Street parkingIndoor and outdoor seatingBagels go by quick and waiting for the next batch can add another 10 mins to the wait if you're willing. Bagels are on the smaller end for me than other bagel shops. Two bagels garlic and plain with cream cheese came to $10. They charged $2 for cream cheese each bagel, Bagel were $3 each. We wanted to try the everything bagel but didn't want to wait. Bagel wasn't as garlicky as I wanted t to be. There are def other bagel spot options that I prefer. I usually love a good toasty fluffy chewy bagel and this place didn't do it for me. For the price and the wait, I wouldn't return, I wouldn't mind it but not my go to place. Staff are really nice! Service was quick given my simple order.

I want to say I do love my bagels, but not the love for cream cheese (at least NY level). For poppy, I do love the chew of the bagel but for $17, I need more smoked Salmon. I love capers, but that was all I could taste in my bagel due to the super thin and scarce amount of smoked salmon. In oakland/berkeley, we have had a lot of bagel places since boichik opened years ago. If I'm in the area, I wouldn't mind grabbing a dozen from poppy but for lox bagel, I rather grab it from boichik or hella bagels.

Delicious bagels and spreads. Used to get their bagels at the farmers market and I'm happy to see they have their own shop now. It's set up in a way that is very pleasing and accessible. Fridge and spreads in the front and the variety is impressive. Ordering was each and fast because the menu is on the wall. The sandwich was made fresh and the vegetables were crisp. The chili crisp sauce mixed with the cream cheese and chewiness of the bagel was a good combination.

A year later and Poppy's is still giving me carbs that make me happier than any other carb I willingly consume. I made a promise I would try to venture out of my basic bisshh bagel each visit. I want to, but that fear of trying something new and it just not hitting like your favorite be leaving me in a chokehold. Why am I like this? But with the full moon in Sag on the way, I woke up feeling adventurous and challenged myself to go with the flow of my taste curiosity. So I ordered a bialys, toasted with butter. And if you're on IG, and enjoy foodies with some flair...this gave me a GAHHHHD DAYUMMM moment in my car. I sat contemplating every decision I made in the past deeming it my "safe favorite." It made me want to find new favorites in EVERY aspect of my life. And all because I tried a new menu item at Poppy's. If only everything else in life was this easy and enjoyable, like applying for jobs, doing taxes, and raising kiddos. Well, at least this ONE thing still makes me happier than carbs should. So, if you can't tell, I'm ordering you to try the new menu item. Buy the limited drop merch that springs up here, and never snooze on a collab you find hanging out in Poppy's brick and mortar. Thank you for never disappointing, Poppy's, you the real MVP (or MVBS--bagel spot?) out here.

These bagels are not just delicious, but beautiful as well! My friend and I came here today after a yoga class and I can't wait to visit Oakland again so I can swing by Poppy Bagels! My friend had the sandwich with lox and I had the seasonal veggie sandwich. These were so beautiful, tasty, and fresh! I also had the very yummy iced dirty chai with oat milk. The service was friendly and fast, and is street parking available.

Previously, I thought the East Bay's only premier bagel shop was Boichik on College, but I'm happy to announce a solid contender for the best gourmet bagel: Poppy's Bagels. Similar to how I use a Korean restaurant's kimchi to gauge their food's quality, a standard everything bagel with cream cheese becomes my go-to for my first-time visits at a bagel shop. The Poppy's everything is a paradigm for bagels - classically chewy, littered with savory everything seasoning, and delicately moist in the interior. The lemony lox spread I had with it was also incredible. Usually, lox cream cheeses can be just okay for me; it's hard to mess up such a simple spread. But, the unique addition of the lemon juice was perfectly subtle yet delectable. The attention to detail with every order is outstanding. The kitchen ensures to make every bagel aesthetically pleasing; despite this being a lost cause as I'm sure every bagel gets gobbled up and disappears into crumbs within five minutes. As experienced today, Poppy Bagels is ideal for any breakfast / brunch / lunch date. The staff are kind and the seating area (outside) is beautiful and spacious. I honestly can't conjure up any complaints.
