My teenager daughter recently decided she wanted to start taking ballet classes. I called Piedmont Ballet Academy and they were so thrilled that my daughter wanted to take classes. She has loved her classes and always comes home happy and excited. We've loved it so far and are glad we've found this place!

Hey, I'm surprised nobody has reviewed this place yet. It's a great studio, and the teachers are really nice. MW-7pm-8:30pm is Adult intermediate, and TuTh 7pm-8:30pm is Adult Advanced. It's great for kids too.As for the Star count, I don't know what to give. What would a 5-star vs a 3 or 4-star class be like. Come take a class and make your own decision. :-)

I went to Piedmont Ballet Academy for the first time tonight to try the Intermediate Adult class (7-8:30pm). I haven't gone to a class in about ten years, but everyone was so welcoming and nice at this studio. There was definitely no prima-ballerina attitude. George (the instructor) was really funny and kicked our butts!! He was not afraid to have fun with the class, and everyone was smiling and seemed to have a good time. I am definitely going to come back and try Jeff's class as well (Wednesdays at 7pm).

We LOVE Piedmont Ballet! Jeff is amazing. He is incredibly supportive of the students and finds a way for each of them to discover their passion of dance. Our daughter has wanted to be a ballerina since she was 3 and Jeff would let her visit and observe classes when she was 4. She has danced there with Miss Robin since she turned 5 and we've seen her blossom in so many ways. The energy is great and the girls develop accountability, poise, and being part of a group as a performer.

I'm not an authority on dance, especially ballet, but our 6-yo daughter has really enjoyed lessons with Miss Robin for the past 6 months. The instructors are delightful- kind and patient with the students. If your child wants to dance, this is a great place to start.

We feel very lucky to have a daughter dancing at the Piedmont Ballet Academy. Miss Neela is an excellent dance teacher, with a deep knowledge of ballet and a thoughtful and constructive communication style. Our daughter often comes out of dance class exhilarated, excited to show us what she was working on in class. After eight years dancing with Miss Neela, we are very impressed with what our daughter has learned and the rigor of the training, while she is making friends and having a good time. As a side note, we love driving out to Contra Costa Dancewear to buy dancewear, as it is the best shop with the nicest and most knowledgeable staff around. Watching the patience of the staff as our daughter tried on ten different pairs of pointe shoes was incredible, and she was able to find just the right pair for her feet. We cannot say enough about our great experience all around.

I'm so grateful to have found Neela and her studio 4 years ago. I've attempted to learn ballet a few times throughout my adult life and never stuck to it because every studio I've tried felt either unwelcoming or not engaging for adult learners. However, Neela had me feel welcomed since the very beginning. She is kind and patient with every student I've seen her interact with. Her attention to detail and artistry have made me grow so much as a dancer in the past 4 years. Ever since I started coming to this studio, I've grown to love ballet so much that now I dance 5 days a week, 4 of which are the classes she teaches. I would recommend anyone who is curious about learning ballet or trying to find a safe space to learn ballet as an adult come try taking a class from Neela!

We have been going to Piedmont ballet for almost 2 years for my daughter. I always support local businesses and even though their quality is not great, I still signed up my daughter to support this local business run by two women! We even brought couple of friends to them. However, recently they changed their dress code which you cannot find it anywhere else but in Walnut Creek!!! The Walnut Creek store don't even have them in stock, so you have minimum two trips to go to Walnut Creek, one for fitting and one for pick up! It takes 1-2 months for the store to bring in your size once you order. However, there is a new brand store Moveme boutique on piedmont ave that sells dance and ballet related stuff and the owner is very willing to work with piedmont ballet. I brought this up to the attention of Neela (new owner) to see if we can order through this new store on Piedmont ave to save two trips for each family and also support that new business. Neela's response surprised me as she said the store in Walnut Creek is her partner/friend and she prefers to work with her!!! Are you kidding me? You are sending about 150-200 families to Walnut Creek two times to support your partner??!! While there is a walking distance ballet store from you studio!Seriously?! As I got disappointed from Neela and I saw a lot of stress among families that how hard it is for all of us in our busy life and schedule to go to Walnut Creek two times for a leotard. so I decided to talk to Robin (former owner). After almost two years being her client, she rudely and loudly told me 'this is our school, and this is our choice, and you have your choice'.!!! I picked my choice as a local person to support local businesses in my area as I did for you for almost two years as well! Also, I will save a trip of 64 miles a year to buy a leotard, which I heard from other families it is a cheap quality and they are itchy and kids complain! (The whole set is about $100 by the way) A lot of businesses close on piedmont ave and I personally do my best to support the stores on piedmont ave and grand ave to keep them in business. You had a great opportunity to welcome and support the new dance store on piedmont ave. For whatever reason, as a local business you decided not to support another local business, but how on earth you don't even consider to make it easier on families/clients by taking the orders yourself to save the trip for all the parents!!!I hope one day you realize how much traffic and pollution you are creating in the bay area by having each and every family of your studio to travel 64 miles for leotards! Their classes are just ok. They do not know how to teach to kids and how to create interests in them. Most of the kids get bored or they hate ballet as they are too serious and strict. A note to parents; please do not follow every stupid policy that doesn't make sense to you! They are in business because of you and your kids.
