Pho 1 Express & Sandwiches

Next we tried Bún and Beef Stew Noodle Soup!The Grilled Pork was tasty and egg roll, crispy! You could taste the lemongrass in the marinade :) I wish there was more than one egg roll, but the portion overall was good. Better than other chain Viet restaurants in the Eastbay. The Beef Stew wasn't my order, but I had a taste of the soup. Very nice flavor You could taste the spices and depth of flavor. Their version is beefy and sweet. I only know of one other place that has a more rich beefy flavor. Good portions of thick cut beef & carrots. Glad to have a good Viet place in my area!

I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to home, but there seems to be a problem almost every time. I think I've been here at least 10 times. Just going to list the things I was not happy with below:-The bun bo hue is what I usually order. First time I had it here the pork blood was FUNKY. The other 7-8 times it was decent. -Old lady seems out of it bringing a cup of water to a table and spilling it on the way without noticing. She needs to retire.-Communication is poor. They seem like they don't understand when I request my meal to be a certain way. Especially when their menu says, "just tell us the way you want your pho!" I asked for my bun bo hue meat to be replaced with regular rare steak which they got it right, but my bbh noodles were changed to regular pho noodles!-my husband was paying one time and his change was supposed to be twenty something dollars and the owner gave him $100 instead of $20. He's lucky we're honest people.-Price is way too high for pho. $17-18 for subpar pho?? No thank you.-ordered a cold vermicelli to go and I noticed they soak the meat in the fish sauce. It's supposed to be out on top of the noodles not in the cup of fish sauce.-the above meal was for my husband's lunch for work and he found a curly 1-2" hair in the noodles. Disgusting! See my picture for reference.-I also ordered two banh mi sandwiches to go and they were so stingy with the meat. ONE PAPER THIN slice per meat and the cucumber slice was just as thin! There was barely anything in the sandwich!! What a rip off.-I ordered an egg soda and as I was drinking it at home I sucked out a lemon seed out of there. HOW did it get in there?!?I'm done. I gave this place too much money and chances. Goodbye.

Been here many times before, but things are very different now. Tried to come here a year ago, but things were shut down. Guess that was when things changed. The difference is the same as everyone here has posted. Food wasn't as flavorful as before. Pho broth wasn't hot. Meat was tough. Prices sky high.Should have noticed something was amiss because all of the tables were empty when we arrived. In the past there was always a waiting list, but not today? When I went up to pay, I asked if there was new ownership or chef, he said "no", but after reading these reviews, I can see he lied! Not going back anymore!

Good Bun bo hue. Good oil Solid balance Well cooked shank. No cabbage though just typical bean sprouts and basil for pho options.

Due to a recent move, I've been exploring new staples in the area. While this mom-and-pop shop doesn't offer as wide a variety of items as other pho spots, don't let that fool you. The broth is flavorful and sweet, and the portions are generous. I ordered the Beef & Beef Ball pho, and it was delicious. It comes with the traditional sides of basil, jalapeños, and bean sprouts. My partner got the #2 and thought it was tasty too, especially for a pho restaurant in a small town. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

I suggested phô for Sunday lunch. My niece liked Pho #1 Express Sandwiches so we stopped. I've driven by numerous times and never thought to try it. I did hear they had new owners. The outside has a bit mishmash dated look. Don't judge a restaurant by its cover!While there are outside tables, we ate inside. Yes the same mishmash of colors and dated decor, or eclectic style, typical of a humble Asian family home like my parents' place.We chose their famous Special Pho #1 (also called Saigon Pho probably a holdover from the previous restaurant here) which is basically Special Pho #2 (Pho Dac Biet) with oxtails added. This is everything beef: rare steak, well done flank, brisket tendon, tripe, beef balls.Service was typical, brief interaction and a bit of impatience. But my sister always take longer to decide on her menu than everyone else LOL. True to its name, the pho came like express delivery. The clear beef broth was excellent! The deep beef flavors really stood out. You can taste the hours of simmering. I've never had it taste like this back in Florida, and it transported me back to yes, Saigon with its numerous family run phô places.Lots of beef in Special Pho #1! We also got ample accoutrements including my requested extra cilantro. This was first Vietnamese restaurant in USA I've been to that provided full cilantro leaves and stems, not just tiny chopped up bits. Great for cilantro lovers.For the delicious, amazing phô alone, this is now my Pho #1 place to go when in town.

. Website order system doesn't work. They charged our credit card and won't give us the food we paid for. They are cheaters

Wasn't open that long then, suddenly Closed !I didn't get a chance to try it but heard it was ok

We visited Pho 1 Express for dinner and ordered the Bun Bo Hue (T2), Combo Rice Plate (#35), and a Mango Smoothie with boba. The Bun Bo Hue was decent but lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. I'll likely try a different dish next time. The Combo Rice Plate was enjoyable--our guest liked it a lot. The Mango Smoothie, however, tasted like it might have been made with canned ingredients, so I wouldn't order it again. Overall, the food was good, and the dining experience was pleasant.

2/18/2025,I have not been here for several years so I have forgotten the healthy diet I should be eating. This restaurant is awesome. I ate this in the car before work so the main snapshot will not be posted this time.2/19/2025,I ordered 2 more Seafood Egg Soup today because my sore throat. I will drink the juice with the vegetable. Tomorrow I'll eat the seafood portions.
