Good food served in massive portions!I'm not super familiar with Cambodian food, but I really enjoyed my meal here and the leftovers were great heated up the next day.I came with a friend for Monday dinner around 6 pm and snagged one of the few open tables left. Throughout the time we were here, there was a constant influx of groups coming and going, so most tables were constantly occupied. The menu is several pages long, so it took us a while to look through all the options and figure out what we wanted. One thing that surprised me was the prices, which felt a bit high. I wanted to get the stuffed chicken wings, for example, but that was $23.85 for a portion, so I skipped it.We shared #534 moarn ang kreun / charbroiled chicken ($22.85) and #642 deep fried red snapper topped with mushrooms, bean thread noodles, shredded carrots, and ground pork ($21.85).I loved both dishes. The chicken was marinated in a sweet soy sauce and charbroiled perfectly where it was super tender and juicy. The fish dish was also delicious and was only slightly sweet, which I appreciated as I prefer savory dishes. Both dishes were generously portioned. Honestly we probably could have split one dish with some rice. We managed to finish the chicken, but I took the fish dish home and it made for some great leftovers!

Solid dishes that have a small nod to Cambodian cuisine, but seems mostly Thai and Chinese influenced. The lemongrass pork was better than the lemongrass chicken. I liked the stuffed wings (filled with curry flavored vermicelli). Other stuff were 3/5 (fish curry, crepe). Parking around here is tough because it's downtown alameda!

Alameda parking can be difficult but we found a parking spot about 1 1/2 blocks from the restaurant and put our name on the waiting list. We waited about 10 mins as only one name was ahead of us. My first time eating Cambodian food which is similar to Thai but the two dishes that we tried were good but mostly I tasted lemon grass in the stuffed chicken wings and the grilled pork also had lemongrass. If I'm in the area I will try the noodle dishes when I return.

Phnom Penh House was the choice of my sister and family when we visited them in Alameda one weekend. It was a good choice!! They ordered an assortment of entrees for our family of 7 to share. Here is what we had. I included the item number from the menu.#213 Samlaw Machhou Phnom Penh. This is a soup cooked with prawn, fish, tomato, lemongrass, and tamarind paste.# 319 Sachkor Ang. Beef charbroiled on skewers served with pickled vegetable and house sauce.#528 Slaap Moarn Borg. Boneless chicken wings stuffed with lemongrass spice, bean thread, meat, black mushroom, onion, and served with pickled cabbage and house sauce.#424 Traop Ang. Eggplant grilled and then sautéed with garlic topped with shrimp and pork.#644 Bonkea Cha Psirt. Prawns and calamaries sautéed with black mushrooms, fresh straw mushrooms, pepper, green onion, and chili paste.#950 Sweet Basil Fried Rice. Chicken or prawns, sweet basil, diced fresh chili and garlic.#951 Cha Kathiw. Pan Fried noodles with chili sauce, bean sprout, green onions, and egg topped with ground roasted peanut.I have to say that everything tasted really good! My favorites were the Cha Kathiw, Sweet Basil Rice, and the Sachkor Ang. Can't go wrong with any of them though.Phnom Penh House is another great dining option in Alameda. By the way, the restaurant was nicely decorated and the customer service was wonderful also. Give this Cambodian restaurant a try.

If you're looking for a taste of Cambodia right in Alameda, CA, you've got to check out Phnom Penh House. The ambiance is super inviting, making it the perfect place for a casual dinner or a fun night out with friends. They have a fantastic variety of Cambodian dishes that will make your taste buds dance. I couldn't resist trying their signature lemongrass chicken, and oh my goodness, it was nothing short of amazing! The chicken was perfectly cooked, infused with the bright and zesty flavors of lemongrass, and it just melted in my mouth. The service was good too; the staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which made for a relaxed dining experience.

Love this place, been here twice now and everytime the food is great. I love their eggplant dish. Its got flavor and feels refreshing. Their noodles are pretty bomb too. A must try if you're in the area. There is another location in Oakland and its delicious as well. Parking is relatively easy as well. You can always go right into the neighborhoods. Staff are always friendly and it was nice that they were able to make some custom vegetarian dishes for my mom. Place is a bit small, but the two times I went it was never a long wait.

The charbroiled chicken was hot off the grill and really tasty. You can taste the lemongrass marinade. They use all thigh meat so the chicken is really juicy. The cha kathiw was not so great. The sauce was way too sweet and tastes like ketchup. I enjoyed the fried banana. The batter was light and crispy!

Sadly, you can't judge a book by its cover. Phnom Pehn House was clean and bright. The tables were set and well spaced. We were greeted when we walked in. The menu has a lot of offerings. The service was only so so. Although they brought water right away and took our order, they never came back to check if we needed anything once we were served and did not offer to refill our waters. There were only three other tables with patrons. The lemonade was very good. It was homemade and had a slice of lemon in it. It was just sweet enough. The food was very disappointing. The rice seemed like it had been cooked the day before and just warmed. We had the chicken curry. There were four drumsticks, eggplant, green beans and some potato chunks. The curry tasted like incense. When we asked what the spice was, they said they said it was turmeric root. We also had the traop Ang. The shrimp was old and tasted really fishy. It ruined the whole dish. Although there was lots of food for what we ordered, it wasn't all palatable.

Came here on a Friday evening for dinner and it was already a full house around 6p. If you are lucky, you can find a parking spot around the corner within the parking lot. We end up parking in the street. Ordered ground pork with shrimp over eggplant, shrimp Pad Thai, stuffed chicken wings, fried calamari, and ground pork over fried fish. Service always on point. They were very busy during dinner time so best to call for reservations if you have a big party. Don't forget the fried banana with ice cream! It's the best after a good meal!
