One of the cooler bars in the city! Hidden under neon lights Persona has a variety of drink options and some very unique ones at that- I saw someone order a cocktail with mushrooms, and drinks spanning the colors of the spectrum. Ambiance is always a vibe with their dj and decor (pretty sure I saw a pool table too). There's relatively decent seating with optional tables for reservation, and for a packed bar the bartenders are pretty accommodating and friendly!

Dark and vibey bar that's super cute and sleeper hit. It's giving billiards, dancing, and good drinks. Would recommend to come for socializing with a group cause it's loud and dark.ALSO huge plus is that it's super AC so it's nice and breezy

Date: Wednesday, December 18th, 2024Time: around 10pmParty of: 2*Intersection ($18) - bourbon, thai tea, citrus, egg white, sweetener, milk wash*Rye's Rapture ($18) - rye, porto, dry sherry, campari, chamomile, sweet vermouthA friend and I were doing a bar crawl or sorts. After having a few rounds down the street, we decided to check out Persona. The bar is a good size and kinda split into two sections. The bar itself was packed, but the tables were pretty empty. We placed our drink order and easily grabbed a two top.I had been doing a lot more spirit forward whisky cocktails, so we lightened it up with the Intersection. I'm a fan of pisco sours which obviously isn't the same thing, but I found it a play on that cocktail. Tho not as tart and a little heavier. I don't remember much about the Rye's Rapture. If memory serves, it was dark and boozy. We stayed here for a touch over an hour. Vibe is dark, almost club like. Kinda reminded me of Slide back in the day when it wasn't packed. And if no one was dancing.I remember when this was The Cellar and I used to dance the night away. In my old age, I'm actually glad it's a more of a chill bar now.REVIEW #3651

Upon walking downstairs, we were immediately impressed by the cool and suave vibes of Persona. We really loved how spread out and relaxed the space felt, unlike many of the other cramped bars in the city. My partner started with the Devil in Miss Jones, while I had the Intersection. We both loved the Devil in Miss Jones, which was surprisingly well balanced. The mezcal, beets, cucumber, turmeric, ginger, lime, and celery bitters all came together beautifully and formed a nicely composed drink, with a slight bit of earthiness from the beets and smokiness from the mezcal. We both had never had a similar drink to this before, and loved it. The Intersection was pretty tasty as well, although not quite as balanced. The first few sips were balanced nicely, with the citrus, bourbon and Thai tea flavors pairing well with the egg white foam. However, the drink became a bit less balanced over time and the flavor of Thai tea in particular became a bit lost towards the end of the drink. For our second round, I ordered the Pay Close Attention while my partner ordered the Café Noir. The Pay Close Attention had an interesting mix of flavors with the gin, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves reminding me of flavors from Thailand. The Café Noir also had a nice rich coffee taste, with a hint of sweetness from the gum syrup that made it finish nicely on the palette. Overall, we really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere in Persona and tasty drinks! We would definitely come back again!

This place has lots of reservation spots to book online. The music is good with r&b throwbacks but I think it just depends on the dj. The place is decorated nicely and our servers were friendly. The drinks were tasty and good.

This bar was absolutely phenomenal. The drinks were amazing, the vibe inside with the comfy seating and moody lighting was very cool yet chill and lowkey, and there was live music which was so much fun!My favorite drinks out of the 4 I tried with my friends were the matcha mirage and the pleasure palace. Both were the perfect amount of sweetness, and I loved being able to taste the matcha in the former while the latter was more on the fruity side. The sweet paradise involved the twig decor getting set on fire which was exciting -- super fun experience!Would definitely recommend this bar to anyone and everyone!!

Drinks are inventive and the classics were decent. Can't go wrong if ordering one of each kind, but ask the bartender what to get if this is your first, middle, or final stop.New to us, this spot is the typical SF bar/lounge except with more seats. This means modern design, dimly lit, separate areas with high tops and sofas, a DJ booth, a date spot (it could get noisy for normal conversations though). Worth a visit from your usual spots or as part of drinks-crawl. Note back in the day - the early yelp years - this was called the Cellar.A walk-in for two people on a Wednesday night and the place was not even half full. Another time, almost a dozen of us showed up on a Saturday night fine. Larger groups should make a reservation if want to all sit together, just in case.

So glad I stumbled upon this spot! Loved the thoughtful menu and the ambience. The cocktails were smooth and service was great. They don't have food, the only snack item I saw was $6 popcorn - matches their old cinema theme. Pleasure palace was the sweetest drink of all the drinks we got, perfectly fruity from the passion fruit. Would not recommend if you want to avoid sugary drinks. Sweet paradise was a fun drink, slight fizz from the kombucha and the torched rosemary was a nice touch. The guava didn't add as much sweetness as I anticipated, pleasure palace was much sweeter in comparison. My favorite was the midnight smoke show, it tasted the closest to a Paloma. Well balanced. Although it wasn't an extremely sweet drink, I found it easier to drink than sweet paradise. Cafe noir, their take on espresso martini, is also a solid choice. Don't forget to snap a photo with the mirror sign on your way into the bar!

Incredible Bar with some very interesting history! This bar is probably one of my top 10 in California! The drinks are amazing and so are the bartenders. Even the menu was cool! Our bartender also took the time to go over the history behind the bar and sutter street.
