Food - 5Service - 5Value - 5We picked up some Portuguese Egg Tarts the other morning from here. These were the best we've had and so flaky! We will certainly come again for more of them and to also sample their croissants.

This is a local favorite, especially for the grad students pretty much across the street in University Village. I'd been recommended this place three years ago, and I regret not coming earlier. As it happens, I came by on a not-that-recent cool foggy Saturday, and, by 9, the plain croissants had been sold out. Despite demand, however, the line isn't intimidating that early, and moves quickly. It ballooned after 9:30, but, as a veteran of the Benkyodo lines, this doesn't begin to compare. Enjoy your morning. I got a far breton, a gâteau de fromage, a pains au chocolat, and four canelés. I await the return of the far breton--the offerings change daily. The prunes were succulent. The texture was right proper. It's fruitcake that's actually good. While we're on the subject of cake, the gâteau, too, had good texture, not being especially dense. It's beautifully caramelized on top, akin to a basque cheesecake; the cheese, in turn, is not too rich or heavy. Somehow, this works without an obvious need for fruit to balance it all, so that's good work on filling development. The chocolate in the pain au chocolat melts more than readily, maybe because it was fresh, but I haven't had a pain quite like this. The lamination is well-executed. The inside is not just soft but outright airy. And there's noticeably extra butter in the pastry, not that's it wasn't properly cooked. It's rich. It's good. Life is short. And I've missed canelés so much. I wish for them every other day. Here I got four solid ones with good crusts. The insides were moist and soft; vanilla custard. The caramelization wasn't even across the set, but that's the vagaries of ovens. One of the canelés had a large air pocket in the top half; while inconsistent, the taste was unaffected.

I finally got to try croissants from here! I'm on a mission to find the best croissants in the east bay and these are now at the top of my list. Perfectly buttery, not oily, with that sweet sweet crunch. Ugh, so good. I personally did not go to pick them up, but at 8 on a Saturday I was told there was a minimal line (only six people ahead of my parents). Service was quick and they apparently had a good spread left at that point! Can't wait for more!!

Got there around 745 after reading the reviews to come early before they open. The line was already 10 or so deep and they had already opened. Line moved quickly. I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes with my regular croissants, chocolate croissant and chocolate almond pastry. Everything was delicious. Soft, crispy and buttery. Yummy. They were kind and bright and cheery for the morning crowd.

The pasteis de natas were crunchy and creamy, especially when reheated in the air fryer. These were delicious! The croissant was airy inside with a crisp exterior and not overly buttery. I understand my future BIL got up early to stand in line and secure these pastries. What a treat for us delivered to the South Bay!Pasteis de nata all the way!

My favorite bakery in the Bay Area! I discovered during the pandemic. Be prepared to wait, and come early but it's so worth it. I love this spot.

Solid French bakery. No frills ambiance - wait in line, order at counter, and pay. Although there's a line, it goes quickly as their selection is limited. Pastries are quality and they have the classic croissants (original, chocolate, almond) as well as some other lesser known items to explore. All are amazing.

Saw this place listed as one of the 5 best places to get a croissant and said I needed to try it out. I was not disappointed! Didn't get a pic of the croissant because it was so good I forgot to take a pic-- flaky, melt in your mouth putter section, chewy goodness in the center. The bostock was bomb too! still don't know what a bostock is but the almonds and orange and all the goodness is a great balance. Will definitely come back.2 croissants and 2 bostocks was like $16.50
