Different from all other Malatang places, this place gives the vibe of the 60-70's, impressed by their food; big portion!

Tasty Malatang. Was a bit disappointed when I came in and I didn't see the ingredients out for the Build Your Own Malatang, but you can customize your Malatang on the online menu. Soup was tasty and not too greasy and the ingredients (meat, fishballs, veggies) were tasty and fresh. Good amount of food too.Definitely would come back.

We have been Malatang fans ever since we used to frequent Bow1 in Newark (RIP). Had been meaning to check out old street for some time and finally made it out during lunch today! Both our bowls were $20 and it was a lot of food! It is a solid spot, but I was not blown away. Pros - large portion- quality of meat (thin beef!)- good spice on the spicier options- sauce bar- easy to customize - friendly serviceCons- no photos on app for ordering and some items are named super similar- flavor of broth could be stronger - soup was not piping hot, but rice cakes and a few other items were overcooked

Was so excited to see a new Malatang spot in the area, and an authentic-looking one at that! My family and I ordered a huge customized malatang with the "very spicy" level, along with a fried spicy chicken gristle for an appetizer. The fried spicy chicken gristle was not at all spicy and pretty plain; probably wouldn't get that again. The malatang itself was very flavorful and super tasty! Everything was cooked to the perfect texture as well. However, it was not that spicy considering we ordered the spiciest level (not to say the spice wasn't there at all, just not enough). Also, some ingredients weren't as warm as I would have liked. The Malatang we got was quite expensive at over $80. It fed my mom, dad and I but I could see it not being enough for those that tend to eat more. We did choose quite a lot of items to put but the portion for each item is very small. The service was really slow but I'd like to think they're still new and working on it. It took around 10 minutes for our appetizer and another 20 or so minutes for the malatang. It was quite a big order but perhaps they can work on efficiency. Cute and unique interior inside; very casual dine. I wanna come back to try some other dishes!

The restaurant is spacious, and the service is fast. Unlike some other malatang places, they don't have a self-service station for selecting ingredients. Instead, everything is ordered from the menu, with portions that are quite large. Unfortunately, a couple of items were unavailable when we ordered. My friend and I both opted for the brothless versions--one spicy and the other non-spicy. The food was tasty, but it was a bit pricey.

Ordered both the dry pot and Malatang with soup, and enjoyed both a lot! The dry one wasn't really what I expected (was expecting an actual stir fried thing), but it was still really good!Servers were really nice and the portion size is pretty generous. Overall would recommend if you're looking for malatang near the area

I recently dined at Old Street, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. As a fan of malatang, I was excited to try this spot, and it did not disappoint! The malatang here is fantastic, offering a rich and flavorful broth that perfectly balances spice and savoriness. They provide an impressive selection of fresh ingredients, from various meats and seafood to a wide array of vegetables and noodles, allowing you to customize your bowl to your heart's content. One of the highlights of my visit was the brown sugar mochi. Served as an appetizer, these little delights are slightly crispy on the outside and deliciously chewy on the inside, with a subtle sweetness that isn't overwhelming. They were a perfect start to the meal and a great palate cleanser before diving into the spicier dishes. The service here was top-notch. The staff were attentive and quick to assist with any requests, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a modern yet cozy decor that makes it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy your meal. The vibe is friendly and welcoming, whether you're dining alone, with friends, or with family.Overall, this place is a gem for anyone who loves malatang or is looking to try it for the first time. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a great ambiance makes it a place I'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommend!

My friend and I ordered the malatang, and the portions are HUGE!! You order through a QR code on your phone and select the ingredients you want. I got the pork bone broth, and it was yummy! The portions are almost double the amount you'd get at the pay by weight restaurants. The service is quick! They weren't too busy on a weekday night. I'll be back!

Really really good service. The people are very kind. The mala pot it really tasty and definitely get mild unless you really like spicy. There's a station in the back where you can get condiments for the dry/wet mala pot. I highly recommend the sesame sauce (slightly bitter and salty) with some green onion and cilantro to temper the spiciness. Bathrooms are very clean and try not to sit next to the door if you want to feel a draft and hear the order bell going off.

Ordering was simple with the QR code and you just order what you want. Personally I thought the meat amount wasn't enough espically since I ordered 2 orders of lamb but it didn't look like 2. For the veggies and everything else that they added was plentiful. I'd be wear of getting double portions of the same meat because of this. Soup was delicious since I ordered non spicy. Their own self service bar had the essentials but I thought it was interesting that they did not have chili oil but instead had fried chili flakes. One of the things I do appreciate is how this place literally chops up their garlic and you can tell. I respect the freshness they provide for the customers. Service was great and the restaurant was really clean and bright when we were inside. The servers were able to get what we wanted pretty quickly. They were nice enough and allowed me to also take their chili flakes to go cause it was so good!
