Nido's is a hidden gem wide out in the open! After having just returned from a family function in Guadalajara we were looking for something similar to the outstanding restaurants they have down there to celebrate my son's birthday. Nido's fit the bill to the tee. Great ambiance, great taste and the quality of the food was top notch. Add to that the outstanding service (special shout out to Craig!) and it truly is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the Bay Area. The prices definitely are a little higher than what we would pay in Guadalajara lol, but we found them very fair for here, especially given the amount of meat in the dishes we ordered. I highly recommend Nido's BackYard!

Sad brunch food, but good drinks.First, we were told to wait 10 minutes for a table to be available and was redirected to a small market in the lot. It was a cute market, but we walked through for 2 minutes before returning and were immediately seated in a fairly empty restaurant... We only had time to take off our jackets and pick up the menu before the waitress asked if we were ready. We asked her to give us a few minutes, but this was a MISTAKE. She seemed to have no intentions to come back because we had to flag her down after 30 minutes (it was not busy at all). I tried to order carne asada tacos and make it Ollita de Pobre (add avocado, rice, beans, salsa and tortilla for $6), but she said I couldn't without explaining why. Instead, she said I could make it a Taco Plate which is adding only rice and beans for $6, now why would I do that? Ordered:Tostada de tinga - 2/5 we ate it right away but it was already soggy from the beans. Not enough seasoning.Carne asada tacos - 1/5 took one bite and there was no salt or seasoning at all. Theres no hot sauce or salt on the table to add + did not want to flag the waitress again. Finished it only because I was hungry. Can't believe each taco was $7..Chilaquiles picantes tronadores con chorizo - 3.5/5 thank god we had this to make up for the other 2 dishes. Beans were flavorless.cocktail: tormentas tropicales - 5/5 maybe would only come back for drinks because this was really good.Vibe: if you're coming for brunch, I would skip the food and just drink tbh. Seems like groups were there having fun on a rainy day but plates were not ate.

One of my favorite spots in Jack London! I mostly come here for brunch, they have fantastic drinks and seasonal pancakes which are always delicious. I'll get the pancakes, my boyfriend will get chilaquiles and we share, it's the perfect way to start a weekend. There's not a bad spot in the open air restaurant, but I do prefer it in the warmer months. But fret not, they have ample heaters around to keep you toasty even in the cold months. The staff are always super friendly too. It's also a great spot for larger groups as long as you place a reservation, there are plenty of nooks and areas they can place a larger group. My friend had her graduation dinner here after coming to brunch with me once and it was lovely, the Nidos team did an awesome job! I'm very curious about their Tuesday movie nights so I'll have to go to one and report back, I really appreciate that they host so many community events! Thanks Nidos!

Came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner. I was going to make reservations online, but was deterred by the potential charge if I didn't show up ($10 per guest on the reservation). After all, it was pretty empty so a reservation wasn't needed anyway. - Fish tacos: I remember these being better. This time, they were a little disappointing flavor-wise - Queso Contigo Dip: comes with a lot of chips and a pretty good size serving of queso. Miscellaneous:- There is a "secure parking lot" mentioned on their website that is a little bit of a walk from the restaurant (if you are facing the restaurant entrance, it is to your back right across the street. There is a $5 charge for parking and a person working there - There are really cute holiday decorations up right now from string lights to ornaments - The heat lamps throughout the outdoor area are so clutch with this cold weather!

We had the best time! This past weekend was my first time eating Mexican food in the bay and Nido's was a solid choice! Vibes are great for brunch and dinner, it's very colorful inside and I love how they set up the whole outdoor space to actually look like a backyard. The atmosphere is upbeat and the staff is friendly. They offer modern Mexican food with an upscale hip flare. Started off with a Guavacita- there a plenty of drinks to choose from and if you like tequila and mezcal then this is your spot. I wanted to order everything on the menu but had to stop myself. I settled for the queso contigo dip, potato flautas and the chicken tinga tostada. Can't go wrong with any of these. My favorite may have been the potato flautas and the chicken tinga tostada. Potato flautas in general are underrated and I felt like they did a pretty good job with the potato filling and the tomatillo salsa. Chicken tinga tostada came with black beans and a whole bed of cheese. Bomb! Next time I'll be back with a bigger group so we can order everything on the menu. If you're looking for a good time, with good food, good drinks, good music, cute ambiance.. then visit Nido's BackYard!

Came to Nido for lunch and endedup having the Caldo which was to die for! It had cilantro oil on top and it was the perfect addition. Tasted like my grandma's chicken soup. The coco flan had a more custardy like texture and taste. It was delicious but slightly different in that it seemed like it was made with real coconut. I want to go back soon!

Came here for a weekday lunch this past week, party of 2. Our order: crispy yukan potatoes (papas pasadas), carne asada taco ($7), baja taco ($7), caldo ranchero half order ($10), 2 chicken tacos, as well as a vegan horchata and another drink. The total cost was $78 after tax and tip, and including the $5 parking fee if you park in their secure parking lot across the street. Pros:- Really fun vibes and nice atmosphere, the decor and music is a really festive. The outdoor seated area is also great when the weather is nice, and it's good for larger parties since there's a lot of available seating.- Happy hour available- The papas pasadas were very tasty and warm, and I liked the crisp and spiciness of the baja taco.- It's nice that there's a secure parking lot if you want it and it has security, but there's also street parking available that I would recommend you use during the day time if it's not crowded.- Really polite service all around from all the staff.- Food is very photogenic haha, very beautifully platedCons:- The food was very overpriced in my opinion for the quality and quantity. $7 for a taco is too much and it was regular sized. - Unfortunately the chicken tacos were cooked, but came out cold.- Horchata was also good, but also expensive in my opinion. Overall, great place for vibes and drinks if you're in the area and want really nice atmosphere with friends, but overall a little expensive for my budget. Was worth the experience since we had a $30 gift card from a friend. Wouldn't mind coming here regularly if I made more money *wink*

I have been to Nido's Backyard a few times for events. The food has always been very well-prepared. Nido's has a great vibe. It could be a vacation vibe. The cocktails are unique and a bit pricey. On this particular visit, I was there for a group (10) get-together hosted by one of our contractors (from SF).We ordered several items to share. It was a great choice and enjoyed by all.
