New Sang Chong Market

This market has never disappointed me. Tons of fresh produce and seafood to choose from plus a hot BBQ station. There's a mini meat department. It's limited but has enough for the carnivores. Service remains friendly and efficient for me. The store is packed kind of tight. Recently remodeled. But I'm learning about different foods each trip. I didn't know there was more than one furikake and the noodle section is the broadest I've seen so far.

I've been coming here for my fresh crab for years. I would pick out my crab, they'd weigh it, give me the receipt to go pay for my crab BEFORE they would cut it up for me. I come back showing the paid receipt and then they'd take of me. Well while I was waiting for one guy to take care of my crab, at least 4 other customers came up, picked out their crab and was allowed to walk away with the bag before paying. Strange that I was the only non-Asian purchasing crab.

Short Story: A good place to get Asian groceries that's comparable to 99 Ranch and Marina Market.Long Story: I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was a bit crowded. The aisles are narrow. The fish market has a wide selection but the fish is not fresh. The vegetables are okay as well. The prices are cheap though!Verdict: I'll come back if I need to.

Quality/Quantity - This is the best Asian supermarket in this area. If you know another that is better, please message me!!Grocery & frozen - this is the main reason we come here. We stock up because in Reno, there are ZERO good Asian supermarkets.Produce is ripe, so it is good if you plan to eat them soon. Otherwise, shop at one of the national chain brands.Meat - Fresh and frozen; also great job having directions for a "line." In the past, it was who can scream the loudest that gets served first.Seafood is FRESH, and many live options.Deli is pretty much closed except for a very small selection of BBQ, see pictures.Atmosphere - Again, the best Asian supermarket in this area.And now with a new remodel of the produce expansion, sheltered outdoor produce area, etc., it made them even better.Well stocked, we can usually get 100% of what we want or need.Not sure if they have sales...? With our current lifestyle, we only buy what we need immediately.Overall clean.Plenty of mall parking.Don't expect a shopping cart in front, so grab one when you park.Usually they have security at the entrance.Open 7 days a week from 8:30am to 7pm.The entire mall is still going through a remodel (for 2+ years now).I believe they are also getting solar...?The entire mall is also going through some turnover; hoping for the best.Service - Do not expect service, similar to Home Depot, it is pretty much self service.It is best to know what you want and need, but you might get lucky and find a good employee every now and then.Price - Reasonable.Owner Suggestion - Not sure if it is the same ownership in Oakland...? If yes, congrats on your 2 locations. Some additions that might better your brand: Full deli? Website? Advertisement? Sales? Basic customer service - Greeting and thanking customers?

It's unfortunate to have encountered this situation and I'm only saying this because I've been a long time shopper at this market. I've purchased 2 baguettes from here and was disappointed to find out that one of them have started to mold. Although this is an imported item from another bakery I hope the grocery responds to this issue by correcting the placement of the item and checking for quality daily to ensure that this doesn't happen again. We love baguettes from Bui Phong! But please have proper spaces for delicate items like these.

Definitely cleaner than 99 ranch. But the prices of a lot of items are a bit overpriced. Then a few things that were on sale was a good deal. Then going to the meat department having to deal with a not so personable butcher who doesn't seems like he even want to do his job. Even made it easier for me not wanting to spend money on meat there. I spend maybe just about $75 which seems like my cart would be twice as much filled with items at 99 ranch. Still would come for certain items but just not for all my regular Asian items.

Love this Asian Supermarket! Their vegetables and meat is always fresh and well priced. I often come here for their Brown or Guaifei chicken -- always so fresh and you can taste the difference.Be sure to look for their weekly specials for best prices on many items. :)

New Sang Chong Market, aka 魚肉王, is one of my fave local Asian supermarket without having to go to Oakland Chinatown or Ranch 99. It's super crowded and cramped and small. It's not as large as Ranch 99, but it's a nice neighborhood market.When I'm here, I'm able to find lots of vegetables and great produce for affordable prices! Some of my favorite finds include:1) Thousand year old duck eggs2) Chrysanthemum greens3) Various fruits and veggies4) Hawaiian purple yamsEveryone wore masks, and during Covid, it's required upon entering the store. Would still recommend wearing masks indoors since it's kind of crowded.

Local and fresh fair prices for Asian products. The place is huge with nice people. Seafood section is always my go to. Crab is what I usually get.
