New Dumpling

New dumpling is the best dumplings I have ever had - even in China or Japan. The space is easy to get to with parking in the back or right on the street. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The chicken and corn are my favorite. My favorite lunch spot in El Cerrito.

First time eating here and it was super good! We got there about 30 minutes before their break, and the staff was super accommodating. Tried a bunch of dumplings: tomato and egg, sweet corn with chicken, cabbage with pork, and the wonton soup. Also had some shredded potato salad and the cucumber and black fungus. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The wrappers were just right, and the fillings were packed with flavor. My top picks were the sweet corn with chicken and the pork dumplings with the wonton soup.Overall, an awesome spot and definitely staying on the list!

My god. There is a reason why this place is Michelin rated.The menu is small but mighty - and packs massive flavor.We ordered Green Chive With Shrimp And Pork Dumplings, Green Onion Pancake and Beef Noodle Soup. All of which were reasonably priced and very filling. The pancakes were so flavorful and had the best crunchy texture to go alongside their hot steamed dumplings. The dumplings too with amazing flavor and the perfect balanced of soft wrapping over a textured shrimp/pork mix inside.Food preparation is very quick and the staff very attentive to customer needs. I'd say the only thing that may be a buffer is that it is a smaller space, they appear to be busy but it seems a lot of people also order takeout so they didn't seem to have any issues with seating while we were there. It's also on a busy street so prepare to park just a bit further and to walk over. There's plenty to see and do so you're not missing out on anything!I cannot wait to come back! I can already foresee it being a new favorite treat.

Well I find Michelin not always accurate but this place rocks! Yeah I love mom and pop family run dumpling joints but this place is pretty innovative with regard to dumplings. No it's not a fussy venue and neither is their wrapping technique or plating. Just get the pork and shrimp dumpling close your eyes... it's mind bending. Loved the seaweed salad. Really different than Japanese seaweed salad. Service is awesome also.

Went a little out of our way to try New Dumpling. We like how it's one of those small family run stores. We also like the simple menu because we're all just here for dumplings and beef noodle soup. The food was overall okay. We don't have any complaints. The service was very good though. The lady was very attentive and proactive. Not the typical service one would expect from Asian restaurants. This place was an easy 4 stars for us.

It was Yelp that took us to dine at New Dumpling in El Cerrito after my mom's cardiologist's appointment in San Pablo today. We arrived almost noon and it was quiet. Looked like we were the first customers. The dining room was small and clean. The wall was simply & nicely decorated. I noticed the frame on the wall that Michelin recognized the restaurant in 2021. We were greeted with a smile of Gloria's when approaching our table. I told her it was our first time dining at her restaurant and she responded "thank you". We ordered the Green Onion Pancake, Pork Wonton Soup, Napa Cabbage with Pork Dumplings and Mushroom with Chicken Dumplings. She said it was good enough for the three of us. My mom was happy eating the crunchy Green Onion Pancake that came first. Then the dumplings were served next. Gloria told us the sauces on the table to use like soy sauce, vinegar & chili sauce. We had small saucer plates for dipping sauce. I asked for wood chopsticks since I was not good with plastic ones. Our hot teas were complimentary. She always came to refill our tea cups not even calling her attention. Our mom just had warm water instead that she refilled too. The boiled dumplings were so real tasty. The wonton soup came last and the broth was balance in taste since mom cannot eat salty soup. We were all happy with our meal. I even ordered the Napa cabbage with pork dumpling for take out for my mom & sis dinner. Gloria told me they also sell the frozen dumplings and instead of 14 pieces they add 4 extra dumplings for the same price. She gave me a postcard with the menu and the instructions how to boil the dumplings at home. She told me her mom makes the fresh dumplings along with a friend. I took the video when they were working on the dumplings. Also they are from northeast in China that was why they don't serve dumpling with soup (XLB). Our dining experience warranted by the Yelp reviews. I told Gloria when my mom has her next appointment, we will return and she appreciated it. I highly recommend eating dumplings at New Dumpling.

absolutely delicious, and the service was wonderful. they were able to accomodate my garlic allergy for any item, which of course means that the food is made to order, i.e., FRESH! we had the peanut celery salad (perfectly seasoned with sesame oil), wonton soup (simple and lovely), green onion pancakes (WOW some of the best i have ever had! sooo crispy), and three different kinds of dumplings: sweet corn, shrimp chives, and zucchini egg with shrimp. each thing we ordered was perfect, and i can't wait to go back and try Every Single Thing.

We love this hole in the wall - what a gem! The menu is small and simple but they do their dumplings well. We also really enjoy the chive pockets (I usually don't even really eat chives!). The skin on the dumplings makes them so good. Would totally come back and eat more!

Solid dumpling place - the dumplings are comparable and maybe even better than a lot of places in South Bay where there's a ton of competition. We always bring back the frozen dumplings and it's such a great staple to have at home at all times. Grateful to have this place so close to where we live

Great little restaurant. Delicious and authentic. The service was really welcoming. Fresh made dumplings and noodles. Lots of good vegetarian options.
