Solid three stars for this spot. Has high opens especially for the outside saying "best dry fried ribs in the Bay Area" - bold takes deserve the harshest judgments. Pretty small for searing but there was some people eating there and also someone sleeping. Hot items are all presentable and reasonably priced. Pretty much the same price as Panda Express for lower quality but larger portions. My main issue was the dry fried ribs were incredibly bad - maybe it was an off day but they were really dry, stringy, and flavorless. They brought out a fresh batch for me but the little that was left in the hot tray looked way better. The portion I had was almost inedible and went to my dogs. The other items are pretty standard for a steam tray spot. Fried rice was good and actually had great wok hei somehow. I'll give them another shot soon as they seem to have a steady filling of regulars.

Let's start with the good.I ordered delivery and wanted to give this spot a try. The prices were good so I'd say why not. I ordered the beef broccoli, shrimp fried rice, vegetable shrimp and chicken curry with two egg rolls. The portions are grand. The vegetables were fresh, and the egg rolls were good. The potatoes had the perfect texture for curry. That's about it. To me, this meal lacked flavor. If anything, I at least expected for the chicken curry to have the most flavor, but even that severely lacked which was disappointing because it was made perfectly. The fried rice was undercooked which led me to rate the meal overall as a 2. I finished most of my vegetables and some of the potatoes but everything else was basically left untouched. About half went to waste.

"The dirtier the Chinese restaurant, the tastier it is", as someone told me this years back. Don't allow this location and surrounding areas fool you. A small hole in a wall, you will find your average Chinese spot where you point and choose what you want. The lady is super nice and gives you good portions. The food is actually good. Just good ol' Chinese food. Is it better than your favorite Chinese spot? Probably not. Will you get satisfied and get the fix you crave when you want Chinese food with "magic yum yum seasoning" (MSG), hell yes.

Too Good to Go order. Slightly different than if I actually ordered off the menu. The experience wasn't bad. Good quantity for how much I paid. I got a full togo plate of noodles, chicken curry, beef and broccoli and piece of black pepper chicken. The taste was just okay. There's also not a lot of meat in the stir fry. All in all, pretty decent for Too Good to Go. Probably won't be as satisfied if I paid full price but also not it'd be the same quantities I got. Staff were fairly quick even though I'm not sure if all the staff knew what my order was.

I mean like, what do you even want man? A life changing experience at New Big Daddy's Chinese Restaurant? Are you really searching for enlightenment at a chinese takeout joint one block away from an overpass? Get real, pal. You know what you're getting. You know why it's a staple of the neighborhood. Don't even try to judge this. Just eat the food and move on. Eugh.

Well, I still like the dry fried they could be a little fatter and meaty. Also, I just noticed a sign that says +2 dollars for salt and pepper. I don't particularly like that, but I still will come back.

I gave 1 star because of the noodles. A friend and myself visted big daddy tonight in hopes of getting some good food. Haven't been in a while and had a taste for it. I ordered egg foo young, I got nothing but fried dough, beef broccoli, I got a few pieces of beef w/mixed veggies, dried fried ribs, warm to cold, the bottom of the box portion was burned, and the top ones were hella salty and the thin chow mein noodles, those were the only thing decent! Spent almost $50 and got trash for dinner!!! I will NOT be going back AT ALL. The quality of the food TO ME in my opinion has gone way down.

Food is ok. The curry chicken was mostly potatoes with very few pieces of chicken. Curry sauce was tasty. The broccoli beef was mostly broccoli with just two very thin slices of beef. The noodles were delicious but too salty. Actually, everything was on the salty side.

Somebody's lying. There is always a line. The food is always fresh and hot. the kitchen is clean as it can be, and the prices are very affordable.I go here all the time and I'm never disappointed. Big daddy's is a small corner Chinese hot table that I think is one of the best well -priced places in Oakland.
