Namastey Patio Nepalese and Indian Cuisine

I LOVEEEE goat curry (bone in is a MUST!) and this place hit the spot. The gentleman at the front was super nice and I think he over estimated my "medium" spice tolerance because it was very spicy, but delicious! I still ate it all up. I will ask for mild next time for sure. Got the garlic naan to scoop the yumminess.

Excellent naan. Good pieces of goat with fat bits and tendon in the curry. Nothing was overly salty or seasoned. Everything else was basic. Butter chicken was a bit rubbery for me, sauce veered on the sweet side. The dal tadka consistency was a bit overcooked and watery. But for the price - good $20 for basmati rice, samosa, dal, naan and chicken. Skip the asparagus tandoori, super woody. Mushrooms were good though - meaty and hearty. Brown rice was just not the chewy texture I like - this was more like pilaf. Would not order from here again. This was a DD order.

This place is huge! I came in the middle of the day so it wasn't busy, but I did notice a big patio with heaters, and lots of space inside too. The waiter did not seem to know the specifics of Happy Hour, which the menu states is 4-6pm but did not say that it was Monday-Friday. We asked what was included in the happy hour and she shrugged. Later she came back to say it applied to appetizers and drinks, but we asked "What applies? Is it a discount? How much?" before she guessed 20% off and left. Not sure if it was her first day or what was going on, but the signage wasn't clear. We got an order of the dal makhani, plain naan, and papadum.The papadum came out first. It was crispy and came with a cilantro chutney. I wish it also came with the tamarind chutney. Exactly as expected. 7/10.The plain naan was a pleasant surprise, warm and a nice crackle when you bite into it. I really didn't expect to be so impressed, but it was fluffy and chewy in all the right ways. The dough itself was a little sweet, in a nice balanced way. It was dry on top, which I liked. Sometimes I think places put ghee or oil on top, but this one was dry and that made it better. 10/10.Dal makhani was good, but not what I expected. I don't know if it's a regional recipe, but it was far creamier than I am used to. We got it medium spicy, and that seemed appropriate for the cold weather. I didn't taste much of the tomato/ginger/garlic though, mostly just the heat. 7/10. I'd be open to coming back to try other dishes.

Pros: - this place has some of the best naan I've ever had. And plain instead of garlic!- it's spacious- bathrooms are clean- plenty of neighborhood parking nearby- excellent music at a comfortable volumeCons:- you will definitely have to ask for them to refill your water- the waitress didn't know what the Happy Hour specials are, nor what hours they took place (the menu mentions times, but not days. HH is from M-F and is only applicable on appetizers and drinks. She said she "thinks the deal is 20% off")- papadums are nice, but only come with the cilantro chutney instead of both cilantro and tamarind like other establishments- the dal makhani is...not what I expected. It might be a regional recipe? If you're craving a classic/dark dal makhani, I would not order the one here. It is good, don't get me wrong, but didn't hit the craving.

Ordered delivery from here and tried the Dahi Puri Chaat appetizer and Chicken Chilli Momo dumplings. Both very good and flavorful. The Dahi Puri Chaat was light and refreshing and still held its form after being delivered. I'd eat this right away so you still experience the light crisp of the outer shell. The chicken chilli momo dumplings were at a medium level of spiciness so I'd imagine palatable for most people. They were tossed in a tomato/chilli sauce with sauteed onions and bell peppers. Hearty serving as an entree or enough for 3-4 people to share as an appetizer.

The best Nepalese restaurant in Oakland. the food is reliably delicious, no matter what we've ordered we've always enjoyed it. We recently had a dinner party and got to giant order of yellow spinach Dal, chicken biryani, palak paneer, aloo gobi, Chana masala, samosas, garlic naan, and a mess of other dishes. Everything was delicious. Service is kind and prompt. They have a huge outdoor patio that is great for groups, and it's rarely crowded. Highly recommend.

Namastey is a great place for Indian Food. All the staples such as Tika Masala, Lamb Korma, Aloo Gobi and naan!A must try!

got takeout from this spot. We ordered Jhol momos , some naan and curry. The momos were a bit hard and disappointing. Maybe they taste ok in person at the restaurant. They have a nice patio seating and staff was friendly when i walked in just before closing time for pickup. Its a bit off our place so I am not sure I would drive just for this but if I am in the area, I dont mind trying it again. The naan was so good when it was packed. cold naan is not amazing though and its not their fault.

Remember when this used to be Pasta Pomodoro years and years ago. They have a beautiful sunny patio, but I opted to sit indoors. It was a very lovely and peaceful lunch, and everything was absolutely delicious. Came on a Tuesday afternoon since I was craving Nepalese food. My hunger admittedly got the better of me, and I ordered:1. Jhol momo chicken stuffing2. Chicken curry with garlic naan3. Gulab jamun Yes, I ate EVERYTHING in one sitting, even though the portions ended up being bigger than I expected. The momos were flavorful and juicy, an absolute dumpling delight! Chicken curry was fantastic, and you can't go wrong with naan. For dessert, the gulab jamun was a sweet, syrupy indulgence. The staff was super nice, and they were really sweet with great customer service. A great gem in Rockridge!

Their chicken tikka masala was excellent.. so was their naan bread.. location and atmosphere was great... service was great also. I hope this restaurant makes it... I am particular with food and come all the way. here from Moraga to have their excellent Indian cuisine. Everyone I've brought here loves their food.. never heard anything but raving reviews. Please keep up the great cooking!
