Mr. Mikey's Country Store and Deli

I've been going here for about a year now, and I must tell you, this family owned store is truly a hidden gem. Located in the heart of Nile's, I go here almost every other day for their coffee and off-course their tamales.Sam is always god blessing people with such a great positive energy! Also they have great deals! Regular grocery also not bad, fairly price and convenient. Their cheese danish is pretty good! Highly recommend this place, the lady that works in the counter is also very nice! I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about her, but I have never had issues with this lady, she's very nice and always telling me what's on sale! Always consistent and well mannered!

Came here after eating across the street at Skillet'z. We wanted some beverages and some Super Lotto entries, why not take a swing at over $1 BILLION DOLLARS (insert Dr. Evil laugh).I found this to be a fantastic family-run local institution of a small grocery market / deli / liquor / wine / spirits. One stop shopping! My eyes were also opened to a new entrant into the hard seltzer category, unbeknownst to me, Death Row records teamed up with Happy Dad to create a grape flavor hard seltzer. Who knew!? The lady working the register, whom I will call "Mom" will try to sell you baklava which she markets as being HAND MADE by her, with the upsell of using local honey. I LOVE baklava, but I also just gorged on breakfast, so I had to regretfully pass.I enjoyed the vibe here, don't hesitate to stop in and experience family-run values and attention to detail.

The sandwiches here are great and fairly priced. I stopped by here in the morning very quickly and got one if the premade ones. It was only $2.99 and it was great. The freshly made sandwiches are worth getting as well if you have the time. The worker is very friendly and will accommodate your every request. I tried something new today here too. I saw the Baklava everywhere in the store, and I asked the cashier if it was made in house. They make them fresh every other day, so I wanted to try it. It was delicious; I would recommend trying it out. He said once you have one, you have to eat another. And that was very true.

My go to convince store. Fresh sandwiches and pastries great selection of beer/alcohol. Some days they sell tamales which are fantastic. The friendliest staff provide excellent service. I choose Mikey's over 7-11 or quick stop any day. Support this local family and shop there too. Plenty of parking!

I have been coming to this store for years. The people that work there are super sweet. I will not be ripped off just because the people that work there are. I understand it's for convenience but when they charge $8 for 2 quarts of almond milk it's out of control.It is wrong and I will not be shopping there anymore.

The woman behind the counter needs to be watched like a hawk. She will add phantom charges to your total, and enter a higher price for an item, if you are not carefully watching the totals she enters into the cash register. Teenagers are especially susceptible! (There is no scanner to scan the prices into the cash register so all the prices are entered manually). Try to go there in the late afternoon when she's not around.As for the groceries, the prices are higher than other grocery stores. Since the store gets its inventory from other stores' discarded items, check the expiration dates, especially on the milk.

Little gem shines bright in this small hidden oasis. Mr. Mikey's is nestled at the edge of town in the quaint family friendly Niles neighborhood. Old time charm with modern conveniences, it's a true grocery and general store. Whether you're picking up a carton of milk, ordering a made to order sandwich from the deli, selecting a fresh muffin, needing to find ant spray, cleaning supplies, trash bags and or firewood - they have it all. Yes, firewood! It's a family owned and operated storefront with amazing customer service. Stop by when you pass through the beautiful historic hidden gem neighborhood of Niles.

What a great little store! The family who runs it have always been wonderful! Make you feel like they really appreciate you stopping in.Their hard work is clear, every shelf is beautifully faced, Super clean inside and out. If you need it they have it! From kitchen to bathroom they are always stocked. If your hungry, I highly suggest going in and visiting the deli! Sandwich's are delicious and as far as size, they dwarf the local chain places. Oh and... the fresh homemade baklava! Dear lord it is GOOD! I stop in every time Im in the beautiful Niles district, even if I don't need anything.Truly one of the last old school family owned businesses.

If the wife is behind the register do not shop here as she will overcharge you and try to give you back the wrong change. This has been going on forever and it's not okay. Thieves should not be accepted. It was happening 10 years ago and it happened again today. Surprise surprise.
