A highly underrated grocery store, Monte vista is small but has a surprisingly broad selection of produce and ethnic/international foods. The place had a farmers market/Sprouts kind of feel and carried predominantly organic produce. They have almost every type of product but maybe only 1-2 brands for each. I liked that there were many plant-based options, from cream cheese to frozen meals or sweets, but I was disappointed that they specifically didn't have nondairy yogurt which is one of my go-to's for breakfast. Almost everything is organic, and the price reflects that; a regular 15oz can of tomato sauce was $4. Besides that, it seems like a safe and convenient place to shop with their wide selections. The staff member helping at check-out was also very friendly.

As fans of Asian cuisine know -- regular basil just won't cut it for Southeast Asian dishes. You need Thai basil, which most markets don't carry. Fortunately, Monte Vista is a nice, local produce market that does!In addition to Thai basil, they also provide ingredients like Thai chili peppers and even Makrut lime leaves. Shop here to your Thai-and-Vietnamese-cuisine-loving heart's content.Friendly, helpful staff.Only downside is that that are occasional quality issues, such as an iffy leaf here and there.Overall, it's a nice, neighborhood produce market that offers Asian ingredients and has a friendly staff. Happy to support it, while it supports my curries and sweet-and-spicy stir-fry dishes.

A small - medium grocery store that makes great use of shelf space, Monte Vista has everything you might want. I was particularly impressed by their vegetables and preserved foods, which included 5 dollar mixed bags of organic in-seasons and favorites like kewpie mayo. The owners are very kind, and they're open on Christmas!

I've been a customer for 10 years but sadly today was my last time shopping here. me: I'm pretty sure I gave you a $20cashier: no you gave me a $5me: hmmm as I peer into the cash register; knowing I didn't have a $5 because it was my last $20...I leave without incident because I know small businesses are hurting but I won't be back.

Love this place and the people. I started going here during covid to support a local business also owned by an Asian-American family who are super friendly.

Sweet corner grocery with excellent produce. For a small space, I'm often surprised at some of the more obscure grocery items I can find here. The owners/workers are always kind.

They are selling Producers milk for $9/ gallon and toilet paper for $6/ single roll! They are price gouging and profiteering off a pandemic and should be shut down

Bottom line up front: I was charged $700 for about 3 items, beware of using your credit card. Ensure you get a receipt. Me personally, I won't be going back. It's a cute, clean, intimate store that I tried for the first time because I needed thai chili peppers and couldn't find them at Sprouts, so I was very excited when this store had what I needed. HOWEVER, I checked my credit card bill today and I was charged over $700 for peppers, tomato sauce, and thyme. Clearly some sort of scamming is going on here. I would have to buy almost that entire store to buy $700 worth of groceries. I do not recommend.

Good organic options, awesome neighborhood food source in these troubled (COVID-19) times, well-stocked, and half the price of Piedmont Grocery. Hardworking people, family owned.
