Our photographer sent us a sneak peek. The rest i have posted were sent to me by our guests.
Just a glimpse of the clutter. I wish I had taken more photos of the inside, but please, take a look for yourself.
This place probably looks better in the spring and summer time.
Cute dog, but unprofessional to give us a tour and have your dog roam around. #sorrynotsorry
Mission on the Hills Beautiful Bar!!

We recently hosted an event at Mission on the Hill venue, and while there were some positive aspects, there were also frustrations that left a sour taste in all of our mouths. Our experience took a downturn when dealing with the venue owner, Dave Roth. Initially, in our first meeting Mr. Roth offered the use of the TV in the main area, which was perfect for a special, short video we were planning to show at the event. However, on the day of the event, he suddenly changed his stance and informed us that he couldn't allow us to use the TV because he needed to generate revenue, basically pay up or don't ask. This was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, as we had relied on his initial agreement and had made arrangements accordingly. To add insult to injury, we had also paid for bar service, which we ultimately didn't even use. It felt like a wasted expense, especially considering that the main reason for the TV denial was to prioritize revenue. This inconsistency and lack of transparency in decision-making left a negative impression on all of us.While the venue itself held potential and offered a pleasant ambiance, the frustrating interactions with the owner significantly impacted our overall experience. I would caution anyone considering Mission Hill venue to be prepared for potential changes in agreements and difficulties in working with the owner. It's a shame that these issues overshadowed what could have been a more enjoyable event. In the future, I hope that the venue and its management can work on better communication and consistency to provide a more satisfying experience for their clients.

The year my husband and I were searching for a wedding venue, Mission on the Hill looked promising to have our reception at, but everything changed once we took our tour with the owner. He seemed like a nice man, but there were some things that were total turn-offs:- During our tour, his dog was just roaming around with us. His dog was adorable and all, but it had me worried about the place being unsanitary. - In magazines, the photo opportunities looked great, but up close, there was so much clutter! It looked like a storage area in the fitting room where the bride and bridesmaids would be. It was just an eye sore. - While he was giving a tour, there was already a wedding party setting up, and he was more focused on giving us a tour than helping them and answering their questions. The place is very nice especially for photo opportunities, but it just wasn't the right fit for us.

One doesn't take their 300th review lightly. First you contemplate on the fact that you have completed 299 reviews already. You can no longer be counted as a procrastinator. You have proven wrong all of those teachers who admonished you for not completing a task. What better occasion to review a wedding location? My 300th review and my 89th "First to Review." This weekend we were invited to a wedding at the "Mission on the Hill." My initial searches for the location brought up a church. I knew that I didn't have the right location when it didn't match the descriptions that I was given. It took awhile, but I finally found their website. Based on the few photo's that I saw, I was intrigued. I realized that I had passed this location before and had mentioned to my husband what a beautiful home it was, but what a weird location. You enter through beautiful wrought iron gates up a cobbled driveway. The building, courtyard and patio are Mission Style, hence the name. The courtyard has a lovely fountain and a beautiful covered walkway. It leads to the patio with a fireplace in the center. This is where the ceremony was held. The setting at sunset was breathtaking and only paled next to the beautiful bride, Sheena. Dinner was served in the dining room and the patio, and later the tables were moved to turn the patio into a dance floor. We were able to take beautiful pictures in the large dressing area located downstairs as the bride dressed. There was a spacious sitting area, stained glass window, bathroom, kitchen (which we didn't use) and a beautiful heart built into the wall. Be sure to check the terms of the agreement carefully, as the times for use are very specific. So if you need extra time to clean up, etc., make sure to take that into consideration. You will also need special Insurance (Event Insurance). You can get it online, just check around for the best price. I'm not sure who catered, but they were awesome! And I'll find out who it was, you bet'cha!

We had a celebration of life here for a family member and they were awesome!Very helpful, gave us tips on what to do and how to plan for the number of people we had attending. It went really well and was a great venue! They had a kitchen to keep the food warm until it was time to serve it and they even helped out when we had forgotten a few things! They have a sound system all in place and a large video screen for us to run photos. Dave and Marcia and Robin were so amazing during a very difficult time! If you are looking for a full service venue - think of Mission on the Hill!

FIrst of all, how weird is it that this is the 3rd Sheena somehow involved with MOTH and Yelp. Not a common name..so I thought.Anyway, I'm writing this more for Dave, because what I have to say about him and the venue is too embarrassing to me to discuss with him face-to-face, or over the phone. That's usually how I am: straight forward, I'll tell ya how it is. But in this case, ugh...I'll keep it short. The building out side is nice enough, but the day time dead on view of the giant Good Will sign across the street was huge turn off considering we wanted a day time venue. He raved about it being meant as a nite venue outside, and I see why...so you don't see that sign.He kept telling us "how weddings are done today", and that was a turn off. It's our wedding, not his. Additionally, he was kinda full of himself, and talked A LOT. He was on and on about how the whole building outside is the perfect back drop for photographs. Yes, I looked at those pictures, and yes, they were nice, BUT, that day isn't about the pictures, its about the over-all experience. Which, I doubt, I would have enjoyed.I don't know if he lives in the building, or just has his real estate office in there, but the inside was a cluttered mess. In order to get to the wine cellar he raved about, which is where the bride dresses...you have to go thru it. If that's not bad enough, it turns out he is the president, or something, of the SPCA. FIne. Actually, good for him...BUT, he had kennels inside the back part of the building (although not part of the venue, a big turn off), AND THE WHOLE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING SMELLED OF DOG URINE. yes, even the BANQUET HALL.to make the whole visit that much worse, he took us into a room to show us photos of other weddings, and right next to the table was a big DOG PEE PAD that had obviously been used by the small dog that had been following us around (Rusty) for the whole tour, and the smell smacked you in the face as soon as you entered the room. Yes, he invited us in the room, told us to sit at the table, RIGHT NEXT to the soaked dog urine pee pad. It was so bad, I could taste it, and I had a headace immmediately. Then, he held us captive, never apologize or ask to be excused for the urine, either, going over photos and blabbing on and on about how great his place is.If you don't mind the behind the scenes mess, and you can't smell, and don't care about the daytime out door view, go for it. Dave....if you want a return for that $2 million you apparently put into that place, clean it up, and wrap it up!

I was really really interested to tour here becasue the mission style really intrigued me. You can't really find that around here. The banquet room was a little lacking...white wall, white linens... you can probably do alot (decorating wise) if you were super creative. Too bad I'm not!! =(The courtyard was BEAUTIFUL!!! Stone flooring, palm trees.. I fell in love with it!The thing that really turned me off was the location. Its sandwiched between a McDonalds and Burger King and right across the street from the Goodwill Store. For some reason that really bothered me.But please tour the place before drawing any conclusions. The place is indeed a 'diamond in the rough', it just wasn't for us.

My husband were on the hunt for a place to hold our daughter's baptism reception and found this place because we went to the McDonald's next door. The beautiful gates and mission-style decor and it immediately attracted our attention. Upon googling it later, we were pleasantly surprised it was a event venue! We soon met with Dave Roth, and we could tell he really put a lot of passion and detail into this building. He was very friendly and took a lot of pride in his work. We immediately knew we found our place. He was easy to keep in contact with and always answered any questions we had. He and his wife were both a pleasure to work with!My daughter's baptism was at the end of January. Luckily weather held up and we were able to make use of the wonderful patio and fireplace. Dave had 3 or 4 patio heaters going as well. Our guests LOVED being outside even though it was a cold January night! To this day people still talk about our event there and we couldn't have picked a better location. We will definitely keep Mission on a Hill at the top of our list for events!

I went with my friend who is getting married in the Bay Area. The building is beautiful, and the courtyard would make lovely photos. Best yet, if you get hungry, you can just walk over to mcD to pick up a burger. (lol just kidding: not!)

The venue was a great place to have a baby shower. The decorator Ms. Coco did her thing made the place look like a fairy tail just beautiful. And Lux crusine - food, Baby when I tell you, you haven't had lamb and Blackened salmon or her Honey glazed salmon until you had this lady's food . Rasta Pasta shrimp, Garlic noodle, when I say her food was every bit of delicious. Thank you both you did an amazing job. Would I give another event here ? Yes but Mr. Dave just need not to try and involve his self in an event that is private . When you pay to use a venue it's not for the owner unless you invited him to stay. But in all it was wonderful.
