Love this restaurant.. I think I've been going here over 35 years. Oakland has changed over the years, but this restaurant has remained the same delicious. I get the ninja roll. The salmon roll. The California roll with the real crab the bento box with teriyaki chicken and tempura. I don't really care for raw fish and they have a good choice of rolls that are cooked. I've tried other types of rolls there, but those are a couple of my favorites. Try it you won't be disappointed family owned business.

Some of the worst sushi I've had in the Bay Area. I haven't had salmon taste so fishy in at lease the last ten years! The 49ers roll was inedible- and the presentation was sloppy to say the least. The chicken karage looked undercooked, but at least could be eaten. Something that surprised me as well was at almost every Japanese restaurant I've ever been to where the chefs counter is in customers view- the chef greets customers. Didn't even get a second look from this guy. After we paid and left most our meal we went elsewhere for sushi....Only reason it's 2 instead of 1 star is the server seemed nice.

This is a true neighborhood gem. It's hands down the most reliably fresh and affordable sushi restaurant I've found in Oakland. The ambiance is quaint, the service is quick, and the fish is delectable. The agadashi tofu is the best I've ever had! It has the essence of ginger!

I have never left a yelp review before but I am just so sad and disappointed that I had to. I ordered my food to go and when I got home I noticed how bad it smelled. I literally could not swallow a single roll I tried. I spit it all out because it tasted like it's been left out for a couple days unrefrigerated. The purple looking piece in the roll is supposed to be spicy tuna... I have never seen spicy tuna look like that.

Have been coming Mijori since we lived in Oakland and still our favorite even after moving. We get the 49er roll and the Y2K.My only recommendation would be to have more options for the edamame-- they only do boiled. Would be nice to have a garlic edamame option. The place is small but intimate and wouldn't be a bad date spot. They get busy in the evenings, something yo keep in mind.

My favorite version of agedashi tofu. So good when it's hot!I got two special rolls - the Ninja, which I used t get several years quite often. This time, to me the sauce tasted like thousand island dressing (so sorry, did not work). I asked hostess if they changed sauce and she said No. but that's not how I remember it.Other roll I got was very very good (see photo). I don't recall name but it had cucumber, crab and I believe eel. Loved it!

I wanted to make this restaurant my new spot so because I m new to the area, love sushi and it out a lot. But 3 things turned me off not to come back - and one was a deal breaker. Before I start off - the staff was nice. 1. Got served Uni that smelled and tasted spoiled. I love love Uni and familiar with the Japanese sourced and California sourced flavors. I ate the first piece and it just didn't taste right. I smelled the second. It was like dead fish left out for days. While it was chilled it stank. I asked the chef what region it was from, he said Hokkaido and it supposed to be bitter. It wasn't bitter. It was slimier and stinkier that I had ever seen and I have eaten this a lot. I am a sashimi fan. My taste buds are conditioned to raw and different. I picked at the second piece thinking I will find a part that I want to eat - but my nose said absolutely no. Then the chef told me he got this today. And then he took my Uni back. And he was very nice and seared it and added extra spices and then gave it back. At this point I figured I already had a spoiled one so I won't be rude and i ate this crisped version where the smell was now gone (burned) and spiced to no recognition. 2. They serve Costco red wine. At least be slick and hide it. And then it made me think - did I just eat Costco tuna sashimi ?! Did I just pay for Costco materials made by chefs ? 3. Every container is plastic. My water cup. The soup bowl. The soy sauce holder. The chop sticks are the cheapest kind so watch for splinters. Overall - cheap operation with who know where the fish comes from. Also parking was tough. Will not come back.

I used to live across the street from here and it was my go to in the area for something quick and delicious.Service is great, everyone who works there is so friendly! It's a very tiny restaurant, so there is often a wait. They do their best to seat both small and large parties :) there's also a sushi bar area which is really nice to sit at.Recommend if you're looking for some nice sushi or other hot dishes right after seeing a movie at the Grand Lake Theatre!
