Hands down the best place in Oakland to get your meats! Me and my bf were trying to figure out where to buy meat to bbq and heard good things about this place. We called in advance to ask about the meats. Unfortunately, they didn't have sliced brisket that we wanted, however the person on the phone (I think was the owner), suggested a meat that wasn't on the menu but would be great for bbqing. I believe he called it the hanger tenderloin, and it's something they were testing before putting it on the menu. It was around ~7.00$ per lb. We ended up getting 3 lbs of it, and wish we gotten more! We also got about a lb of sliced lamb, and 3 lbs of short ribs! The 3 lbs of hanger tenderloin, 1 lb of lamb, and 3lbs of short rib ended up being around 55$, which isn't too bad at all! This place did not disappoint, we'd definitely come back for more! Don't forget to bring cash because I believe its cash only!

I was looking to buy short ribs for a barbecue and I'm so glad I found this place! There is no price in the Bay Area that can beat Meatco! I will definitely be coming back here to buy all of my meat/poultry needs.First of all, each pound was less than $6 dollars (5.50/lb I think? Around that ballpark), which is remarkable considering the prices in other place is around $12. I called in a few days earlier asking for 5 pounds, and they said that even though they only sell by 3lbs each, they would specifically pack away 5lbs for me and save it for me to pick up! That was so nice of them! The meat was super delicious and soft. They ended up being a hit at my barbecue. I have meatco to thank for that! Just a tip: don't forget they are cash only!! Also they are Cantonese speakers but they also speak English

This is the most cheapest price of the meat in the town! They are a factory but open up for public to buy the retail pack meats. Tried fresh brown chicken..... It's just cost $9.5/pc, but the taste is so great! Fully recommend!!!

While looking for some hot pot ingredients, we came across this hidden gem. Meatco not only offers beef and chicken, but also has seafood as well! One of my favorite item I ordered was the beef brisket. It was thinly sliced and perfect for hot pot. Price was very reasonable as well. However, we had to order everything in bulk as it is a wholesale store.

Awesome! Got a lot of quality meat for a good price! I guess the only drawback is needing to buy in bulk, but works out great for large group activities. Doesn't take credit card, which is a downer, and no nice official looking area, but it works.

Edit: Upgraded review to reflect latest customer experiences.First purchase was credit card, second was check to spare the service charge. Jerry prefers cash but seems flexible and is very helpful and forthcoming.Small shop doing wholesale/retail bulk with affordable frozen shrimp salmon beef chicken pork lamb goat ox ?? If you do not see what you want in the retail freezer, ask for more choices from the warehouse freezer in back.Meatco beef is tasty, but you may have to shop elsewhere and pay approximately double for fresh prime rib steak with all that marbling. Grilling the steaks rare to medium helps preserve tenderness and leaner grade is healthier anyway. Works for us.The sliced lamb is quick and delicious. Cut slices in 2-3 pieces each and stir-fry in canola oil with medium-sized broccoli chunks, sliced mushrooms, crushed garlic, powdered onion, dried chive, salt, pepper, and dried rosemary chopped fine with a knife. Use equal uncooked volumes of lamb broccoli and 'shroom. Go easy on the seasonings so the flavors blend or they will overpower the dish. Preheat the oil on high heat, add everything at once, stir constantly, and remove from heat while broccoli is still bright green and tender but crisp. Never cover stir fry, not even to keep it warm. Serve immediately over whole grain rice or noodles. To reheat, make a large donut hole in the middle for even microwaving. The back ribs and salmon and shrimp are next on the menu. Planning on oxtail soup with barley and goat stew with miso. Yum!
