This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the entire Bay Area. Really my favorite - and what got me so excited initially with this restaurant - is the apricot and Sage gnocchi... they haven't offered it in a couple years, but I'm still optimistic. It's worth bringing back!In general, the quality of their pasta is on the higher end, though - so you can't go too wrong. They also have decent cocktails, which is relatively rare for Italian restaurants, and have the best butter cake I've had in my life, which is probably why I continue to frequent the place in spite of missing the more creative/delightful gnocchi options...

Should be called Mangia Meh Came here for dinner with a total group of 6. Husband and I ordered charred corn salad, lasagna, and a spicy pesto pizza. The salad was good-if I were to ever come back, this is what I would order and add chicken. For an Italian restaurant, you would think the lasagna, of all things, would be good. It was meh-flavorless and cool. What a disappointment bc almost everyone at our table ordered this. The pizza was soft, limp, and needed to be cooked longer, to make the crust a bit crisp and help each slice hold its shape. It was spicy, but again, just okay. The service was also meh. Our server was nice and it was busy, but the time it took to get our drinks was too long, and the food took even longer. I wouldn't have an issue with waiting, if the food was worth the wait. We also had to remind the server repeatedly about drinks we had ordered but hadn't received. There should be a procedure in place to ensure this doesn't happen and if it does, it's infrequent. All in all, I would say skip this place and save your money. There are so many better options out there.

My wife, daughter and I ate here for the first time tonight and were impressed. We split an heirloom tomato and burrata caprese salad that was good. I had the lasagna, which was excellent. My wife had the carbonara, which both she and my daughter loved. My daughter had the gnocchi, which I did not try but my wife said tasted fresh and fluffy. The service was attentive. All around a great experience, hence the five star rating. It is a casual place. There are no tablecloths and there was a TV showing college football in the kitchen, but it was great for a family dinner out. We will go back.

I dined here with my mom last Friday night. Despite it being the weekend, there was virtually no wait around 6:30 PM, a pleasant surprise, and the hostess led us to our table almost immediately. Soon after getting seated, our waiter welcomed us with a complimentary bread basket, cups, and a bottle of water. I use the house bread as a litmus test for the quality of an Italian restaurant, and Mangia Mi's is pretty damn good. It's a baguette which comes warm, moist, and crusty: the holy trinity of baguette traits. To share, we had the spinach and butternut squash salad, the seared scallops, and the pasta con vongole. With all due candor, skip the butternut squash salad. The bacon bits came out a tad too burnt making it almost too brittle and difficult to chew. The butternut squash also had a weird marinade rendering it cloyingly sweet and masking its natural sweetness. The main dishes were pretty decent on the other hand. The pasta con vongole, immersed in a white wine sauce, was potent in garlic flavor yet a tad too salty than what I would have preferred. The seared scallops were served on a bed of risotto with corn kernels adorning the top. The corn kernels were an odd addition, adding a needless sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Overall, Mangia Mi was pretty good! Definitely a solid Italian spot for the Danville area.

LOVE THIS PLACE!I'm an Italian au pair currently living in the States and tonight I came here to have dinner with my host family. First time having dinner out since I got here.I couldn't have had better night.I had Gnocchi al Gorgonzola and gosh, those were delicious, almost tasted like home if it wasn't for the parmesan cause there was too much but I LOVED them! Then I fell in love with the Buttercream Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream on top.The kids didn't eat everything so we bought the leftovers home! The staff was so nice and kind and we had so much fun talking with them!Alexandria served us and she was amazing! This is the kind of staff I like to meet when I go to a restaurant.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US!I'll definitely be back to have that buttercream cake again!

First time here. This is a cute intimate Italian restaurant. Best to make reservations as the place fills up fast in the primary part of the restaurant. We had reservations at 5pm on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday party. Half of our guest were 15 min late, but they were kind enough to sit the ones that were there on time. Our server, Carter, was very attentive and prompt the entire time. All staff was very nice and worked together, making sure we always had plenty of bottles of water toHe was quick to bring us the amazing, warm delicious sourdough bread to start us offFood ordered:Beet Salad (side), enough to be shared. They are generous with the toppings and balsamic dressing. Short Rib Raviolis- Favorite dish of the night. oh my goodness. Yummy! Every bite. This was a plate full of raviolis with a flavorful meat sauce. Was able to bring 1/4 of it homeLasagna- coming in a hot 2nd. Large portion that easily could have been shared. They do not go light on the meat sauce, which I loved. The flavors were robust. Brought 1/2 homeSpaghetti & Meatballs- once again another large portion. Think there were about 4-5 large meatballs. Margherita pizza - she said it was good. Looks good but was too stuffed to try it. When we thought dinner was done- Carter reminded us not to pass up the desserts as he was packing up all the left overs and boxing it for usDesserts:Must Have- Cale Bread with gelato . This is similar to a soft baked vanilla cookie served with vanilla gelato. We were melting eating thisCannoli- 2 large size cannoli stuffed with a pistachio filling. They were ok. Good presentations, but thought they were going to be softer- these were hard to eat. And Carter was kind enough to even sing Happy Birthday. As busy as they were, service was really good. Food was served quick and hot. Has a nice welcoming feeling. 2side salads, 5 meals, 3 desserts, 2 sodas. No alcohol $230.

My family and I had a reasonable meal at Mangia Mi that was unfortunately marred by a pretty subpar experience. We walked in on a Friday evening and figured we'd try our luck without a reservation for a party of five. We felt quite lucky when we were actually able to be seated within a few minutes! They told us we would be seated in their "cottage" area... Unfortunately, this small room was clearly not originally intended to be used as a dining area, as it is very echoey. We were seated next to a loud family and the acoustics of the room made it extremely difficult to simply hold a conversation amongst ourselves. It also lacked any of the ambience of the rest of the restaurant (excessively brightly lit), and our table was right next to the restroom, which was... less than ideal. It took almost 15 minutes for our waiter to get to us (we thought they'd forgotten we'd been seated here). We ordered blood orange and pomegranate martinis, which were pretty tasty. They also brought out bread and dipping oil, which helped satiate us until our entrees. We ordered the rigatoni alla carbonara, lasagna di carne, and the gnocchi gorgonzola. All three entrees were pretty tasty (the lasagna was probably my favorite), and the portion sizes were ideal. The gnocchi was a little overly chewy, but still good. However, I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that a couple of us felt a bit queasy and unsettled when we got back home...The prices are a bit steep, particularly given the middling quality of the food and service. Overall, while the food is pretty decent, the inconsistency of the service, quality of the seating/ambience, and steep prices made this just an average dining experience. I might return if I have a strong craving for Italian, but I'd love to see some of these other issues addressed to elevate the experience.

My family & I managed to get a reservation here for Mother's Day & the place was very busy! We got a seat out on the patio, & the weather was perfect. To start, we ordered the bruschetta: Oven-Roasted Red Tomatoes, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano, Basil, Grilled Bread. That was essentially gobbled up in no time because it tasted so good! My aunt & I then ordered two dishes to split: the heirloom tomato & burrata caprese & the Funghi pizza. The pizza came with Maitake, Oyster and Crimini Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Caramelized Onions, Truffle Oil. Both dishes were full of flavor & absolutely delicious. My parents ordered the Lasagne di Carne, Fresh Pasta Sheets, Bolognese Sauce, Béchamel, Mozzarella, Parmesan, as well as the Rigatoni all made Carbonara, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Pancetta, Applewood-Smoked Bacon, English Peas, Pecorino Romano. Both really enjoyed their meals, & since I don't eat meat, I had to take their word for it! The food takes a bit of time to arrive at the table, but they make everything from scratch & you can taste the time & effort they put into every meal!

It was my first time at Mangia Mi and I was pleasantly surprised by how cute the restaurant was. It literally feels like you're inside of someone's home. They have a front porch with a few seats outside. My group and I sat inside at their private room which had a cozy dining table. I ordered the Short Rib Ravioli al Forno, but it was extremely salty for me and covered in cheese. The portion was quite large, but I probably won't order this dish again. Overall, the food was a bit underwhelming.

Had a nice Valentine's Day dinner with my wife, had an overall mixed experience 1. Food - appetizer of burrata and prosciutto was amazing, but lobster ravioli felt underwhelming and burrata chorizo was tiny, undercooked, and 30% crust. $25 for that pizza was rough2. Service - William was great! We were the only table out on the patio and he was checking on us right between courses and we never felt forgotten. Unfortunately the manager felt it was necessary to berate him in front of us for being slow and not helping his tables. Meanwhile we watched said manager just hanging out at the bar with regulars while they were busy.3. Shady practices - they want to charge a 3% fee for credit card charges, which according to California law is illegal for restaurants to do. They better be careful before somebody reports them.Overall, seems like the place has gone downhill in the quality department. They want to charge $35 for dishes that feel literally and figuratively half baked.
