Mäksē Restaurant - Vacaville

The ambience was great and very elegant. Although we didn't experience the live piano playing, we still enjoyed our time. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.I found my beef braised short ribs to be disappointing, but the mashed potatoes were full of flavor. My husband enjoyed his ribeye steak a lot. We look forward to returning for the dueling pianos on Saturday nights.

My girlfriends and I wanted to try somewhere new and local for brunch. It had been a while since I last tried Makse so why not give it another try? My friend set up a reservation for our party at 11 AM on a Sunday. We arrived early to our reservation to an almost empty restaurant. Our server seated us quickly and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered the bottomless mimosas that are advertised on the menu only to be told that they were out of champagne. The server was apologetic and did offer me the option to purchase prosecco by the bottle or the glass. I declined and decided on the espresso martini. Another friend in my party tried to order a bloody mary and we were also told their shipment of bloody mary mix never arrived. Disappointed in the lack of availability of brunch drinks, we decided to cut our reservation short and find somewhere else to dine. I do understand things happen but Makse fell short once again. Our server was very sweet and I know it's no fault of her own that items were unavailable. I was just expecting more of a high end experience from this establishment. I don't think I will ever be back.

UPDATE: The mananger was on duty in fact. It's the same bald guy responding to all the comnents. What in the world? Please, stay far away from this place! Terrible experience. Mosquito. YES A BUG was in someones food (no sincere apology btw) cold food, and long wait time, no manager on duty, SLOW SLOW SLOW SERVICE. Beautiful place, but horrible customer service and food. No integrity. Don't waste your time, it would have been better for us to go to AppleBees. We were told there was no lobster than magically there was lobster? HmThey also turned off the lights before we could even leave. Yes, they closed at 9. But we didn't get our food until about 9!

With a new baby, my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary somewhere close by where we didn't have to drive too far away from our little one. We were so glad to learn that there is a cute restaurant in town--perfect for a little date night. Our server was Tom. We appreciated him kindly sharing his impressions of the items on the menu. My husband enjoyed his braised short rib and my salmon filet was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. We also both really liked the Bananas Foster, which we ordered per Tom's recommendation. We look forward to having brunch here next!

I love this place, love jazz music and the bartender Alexander is the best and so kind. I'm surprised not many people come here. The food is absolutely delicious.

We love strolling around downtown Vacaville, and Makse caught our eye as a nice spot. We decided to stop in for a cocktail and ordered a couple of Old fashions, which were well-made and enjoyable.However, as we're plant-based, we didn't find much on the menu for us beyond fries or a side salad, which we don't consider a full dinner option.That said, Makse is a great place to meet up with friends for drinks, and we'd come back for the atmosphere and cocktails.

My husband and I ate here for a date night the other night and went to the dualing pianos show. He ordered the Makse Burger with fries and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with garlic cheese bread on the side. The service was so busy to the point where the server forgot my garlic cheese bread and I had to end up taking it to go. The people next to us were also getting impatient because they were waiting a while for their order too and had to remind the waiter. The restaurant upstairs is nice and sleek but downstairs can get pretty chaotic and crowded when you are there for the dualing pianos (which is a good time and show for sure!) Overall, would probably go again to eat in the upstairs area rather than the downstairs.

My husband and I went here for Valentine's Night. The food tasted good, but the wait was painstaking. We arrived at 715. The entree came at 830. Dessert came about 930 as well. During those long periods in between they could have asked if we needed drinks or anything else. These wait times didn't make sense because it's a prix fix menu and we ordered what we wanted when we made the reservations, assumably for the process of stream lining. It was also pretty cold inside.

It's a great place. Went there last Sunday with my family - service was great food was great. We will be back. DG

5+ starsThe moment we walked in to the moment we left was such a great memorable experience! The restaurant and ambiance is such a vibe! It's very much family friendly yet can be a great place for a romantic date. The service was amazing, very efficient and quick. The food and drinks = perfection! Devoured it all. I must say the humus is my favorite, it's authentic, I haven't tried anything like it. I highly recommend Makse!
