Mahogany Soul Food

Food Let's start out with 2 things you need to know... they have Crystal hot sauce and you'll wait a hot minute (or 20) for your food... that means you're in for a home-cooked soul food treat!!To be fair, we were there during a pretty busy time of Saturday night to go orders. As we sat watching order after order come in and to-go bags go out, we just knew it was going to be worth the wait! Oh man!!! It was SO GOOD!!!- I had the pork chop plate (it comes with corn bread & 2 sides of your choice). My chop was beautifully prepared (lightly battered and juicy). It was so good, I left that bone clean! My sides (greens and red beans & rice) and the cornbread were yummy companions to that beautiful chop.- My wife had the veggie plate (3 sides) and added an extra because it all sounded so good! Her greens, mashed potatoes, cabbage, and mac 'n cheese were all SO GOOD! - I ordered the Salted Caramel Banana Pudding. It came before dinner but I was afraid to fill up and miss out on the pork chops. I'll eat it tomorrow and let Y'all know.For the record, after the food showed up, our table was pretty quiet. LOLThey offer canned sodas, homemade sweet tea, Kool Aide, hot tea, and water. Customer Service They get 3 stars for customer service, for several reasons:- Since it was our first time there, it was unclear if it was a seat yourself, order at the counter, etc. - It appeared there was only one chef & one person on the register working while we were there. - The cashier seemed overwhelmed between the to-go orders, DoorDash orders, and the 1 or 2 of us dining in.- When we asked questions about the menu and desserts, the cashier was non-descriptive.- Our refrigerated dessert came out 15 minutes before the food. Overall, the vibe was set for people to hang out while they waited for to-go orders. Totally worth the wait though!!!!

This was my first time trying this location and I was so excited. We don't have many places with good soul food in the area (they're also open late). We ate inside the restaurant (or you can order to go and on DoorDash). Everyone was very nice and attentive before and after we ordered.We ordered the catfish plate w/ yams and mashed potatoes, Basa w/ greens and mac, and Basa w/ cabbage. And a sweet tea to drink.Everything was seasoned perfectly! I'm so glad to have this restaurant close by where I live and I will be back again!Ig: Oohdearfoodie

Our 2nd time getting Mohogany's food delivered. Fiending for soul food in our area I ordered the catfish dinner with yams and dirty rice. The fish is good but different - fried from frozen maybe? The dirty rice is good and has that typical dirty flavor with ground beef. I liked the yams but the portion was mostly juice. Also there was way too much vanilla used in its preparation; and a little less sugar might go a long way towards being able to taste the actual yams. The meal is served with a small corn bread muffin which has a nice (Jiffy corn bread) taste but it's so crumbly you can barely pick it up. Overall the food and prices aren't bad. I can't speak to the service or ambiance since I've never been to the actual location.

This was my first time ordering from Mahogany Soul Food. I am very underwhelmed. I ordered Basa fish and shrimp combo. It was extremely salty. I ordered dirty rice. It was cold. The meat was hard inside. It was old not fresh. I ordered cabbage. It was OK. It was old as well but it taste good. It wasn't Very hot. There was no condiments. No tartar sauce no ketchup no hot sauce no napkins. This was a DoorDash order I was called because I guess my order got mixed up and they wanted to make sure I have the right order so that was nice, but I wouldn't eat here again! Nor do I recommend it!

Ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of candied yams. Also ordered for my Hubby and son fried chicken. In addition, I ordered peach cobbler. This was ordered through DoorDash.The shrimp and grits was okay. There was a lot of grits. I think it could have used more sauce. I saw the option to smother it for another $2. I tried the peach cobbler and for a small 8 oz container of it at $9.99, I think that is expensive. The flavor was really sweet.I may have to give this place another try. They left out my candied yams, which I had my Hubby pick up. That was too sweet for me too.The person on the phone was accommodating about my missing yams. I was not completely impressed with the food.I may try to give it another shot, but very expensive.

Let me start by saying that the fish, shrimp, and fries are really good. The Basa, Catfish, and shrimp were all crispy, well seasoned, and fresh. It's a small restaurant with a big personality and a friendly host. There are physical menus available on the tables but all of the ordering is done by QR code, which would be okay if the online menu was updated in real time. My suggestion would be to ask in advance if your selections are available prior to placing your order.

Food was good, nice ambiance, chill vibe. The host and cook were both friendly, flexible and my friends and i felt welcomed & right at home. Would Reccomend !

Food is a 10/10. My favorite was the pork chops, dirty rice and gravy and anything fried. Everything is good. I love the service and the overall home feeling of the restaurant. The kool aid is good too. I'll be back for sure.

I have ordered twice with Door Dash from this business. Both times the orders came without the side dishes.Their resolution is for me to drive down there to pick up the sides.If I wanted to drive down to pick up anything I would not have paid DoorDash to deliver it.Once is a mistake, twice is incompetence. I gave this Black Business two chances, and have been disappointed both times. There will not be a third time.

First, I really like the decor and the nice touch that it brings to the area. Very pleasing. I was very excited to give them a try.I was immediately greeted and as it was my first visit, they were super helpful with the menu.So I ordered a Catfish & Chips Basket, Chicken & Waffles, Mac, Greens, Yams, Red Beans, Crunch Cake, Lemonade & Red Koolaid.Catfish Basket - juicy & flavorful and the fries were good.Chicken & Waffs - chicken was juicy and kinda crispy but the waffle was limp (as opposed to fluffy) and uncooked in the middle;Mac - sauce was broken in the Mac so it was giving a texture that I didn't find appetizing;Greens - Smoky w/turkey flavors;Red Beans & Rice - Seasoned well;Yams - Good but a little too sweet & way too much juice;Crunch Cake - Delicious;Lemonade - Tastes like lemonade made from Lemonheads candy;Red Koolaid - we don't drink it often so it was nostalgic.
