Over a year ago, I read about a southern Indian restaurant in Fremont (most are Northern Indian/Pakistani) so I was super curious to try them out. I came on a Sunday lunchtime to get takeout and remembered it was completely packed. I went again with friends on a Saturday night and it was noticeably much quieter (only a few tables dining in).For party of four, we ordered (2) butter chicken - tender chicken, tasty, wished more pieces of chicken like their menu photo online(1) Masala Dosa - I expected it to be more 3D triangular but it came as a giant flat triangle. Still tasty.(1) - Porrotta, like a roti or Chinese sesame pancake, crispy not too oily(1) Utthapam Dosa - like a Korean (seafoodless) pancake, slight tang to it(1) Basmati rice(1) Mutton pepper fry - very flavorful, packed some leftovers home for next day. Later I learned on Wikipedia that Mutton is goat in India. (Mutton is sheep in American English)(1) Fish dish wrapped in banana leaf - warning, red sauce on top is spicy, friend almost couldn't handlePortions were just right. Everyone left satisfied. The waiter also recommended us to come back to try the weekend lunch special Thali. However I didn't know about another's Yelper's review that the totaled prices doesn't match the menu prices so not sure if they charged extra.Plaza parking lot is very small, shared with a bunch of other businesses, very difficult to park, compact only spaces. Street parking available along Alder.

We love their weekend lunch thali, and their dosas are also great. The flavors of their authentic South Indian non-veg thali take me back in time to my college hostel mess in Vellore, India. One issue: The prices on the menu were outdated, and no one informed us about this when we ordered. After paying, I noticed the discrepancy on the receipt and pointed it out to them. They promptly refunded the difference and charged us the price listed on the menu. I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars because of this. They should update the prices on their menu if they have been increased.

Excellent South Indian food! Think Kerala/ SriLanka/ Tamil Nadu style. Highly authentic delicious and value! And the instrumental Tamil music was a nice touch.Especially like the kotthu parrotta. I'd recommend asking for it to be spicier if you want a more authentic flavor, but the way they make it is very kid friendly. The thali was also really well done. Basically a 3 course meal. And the rose drink with chia seeds was perfect. Not too sweet and robust rose flavor. We'll be back to try more of the menu! I was excited to see the appam on there :).

Came here with a friend who was craving Parotta as soon as he landed in the bay haha! The Malabar Parotta was nice and flaky & my friend who had the pepper chicken said it was pretty good. Aapam was a big let down - chewy with a sticky center and tasted bland.. the side of kadala curry made the dish a bit okay but still expected it to be better. The egg kothu parotta was very tasty and we finished it in under 5 mins! Overall, it was an okay experience but I expected a bit more variety in their veg items (Avial, kaalan, ulli theeyal, kappa etc) & I've definitely had better Kerala food.

This is a terrific restaurant. While I have not eaten in it properly yet, the food delivery is great! We love the food and service, though I will admit that their fried onion pakora needed to have been left open so the steam could escape...leaving it soggy by the time it was delivered. But it was very tasty! We will go and eat in one day to be able to properly comment on the atmosphere and ambience. Definitely worth it, though.

This is a review based on a few visits not a mukbang.F O O D+ Non-veg thali (combo plate): same as the veg thali but with sides of meat. Start here if you're unsure of what to order. +++ Mutton varutharacha: mutton in a coconut based gravy+++ Chicken idichathu: chopped chicken in a dry curryVegetarian options: plenty!+ Veg thali: Start here if you're unsure of what to order.+ Onam sadhya: special thali for onam (harvest festival from Kerala) with options of vegetarian or non-vegetarian. The non-vegetarian option is the vegetarian thali with extra sides of chicken and fish.+++ Malabar parotta: crispy, multi layered bread similar to the Chinese pancake minus the green onions+++ Appam: soft, thin bread made of fermented rice and coconut. I like it with korma (savory) or coconut milk (sweet).+ Kappa: cassava boiled with spicesS E R V I C E+ Overall great service other than during Onam, but that's ok considering they were bombarded with the unusual volume of people. Staff have always been helpful in explaining the menu and answering our questions. Normally, it's not too packed, and we get our food pretty quickly. We got there today an hour after opening and were seated right away as usual, but the crowd at the door grew a lot during the 30 minutes we were waiting for the Onam sadhya thali. The staff apologized for the wait.* Might help having only Onam sadhya thali vs the entire menu on Onam to reduce the work for the kitchen or self serve buffet style? Also maybe communal seating to reduce the crowd? We were only a party of 2 but wouldn't mind others sharing our table as we had 2 empty chairs.+ They accept card and NFC paymentsA M B I A N C E+ Clean and spacious+ Ample parking in the lot+ Restroom is always cleanT L ; D RThis restaurant is a gem in our neighborhood that has ample veggie and meat options from Kerala, a state in southwest India. There's also a lot of dairy free options for the lactose intolerant.Tips:* If you don't know where to start, try the thali to get a taste of a bit of everything. * They also sell fruit cake!* I'm grateful they're not atomic spicy. I like to pack leftovers, so we can split a mango bingsu (Korean shaved ice) next door to cool down.

We order from Madhuram for takeout regularly and absolutely love the food. It is our go-to place for Biriyani, it is delicious and the employees are friendly. Highly recommend!

This restaurant wrapped up our quest for good foods nicely. It was not crowded (people probably went out of town to celebrate new year). Madhuram was a clean and nicely decorated place to have the holiday dinner. The waiter recommended the house special Chicken Kisha Porotta, which was frequently featured in customers' photos. We added Chicken 65, Vegetable Khorma, Basmati Rice, and additional Malabar Parotta to complement. To indulge myself, I had a cup of Masala Chai. The flavors and the savory of Indian cuisines were fully captured in the order. I was particularly intrigued by the Chicken Kisha Porotta. It was presented in the aluminum foil w/ egg, chicken and gravy soaked Porotta. That preserved the smell and temperature of the dish. The Chicken 65 was a great appetizer to have. The waiter suggested the fried shrimps but we didn't want seafood this time. We also skipped the mutton biryani. So it means we shall return to complete the taste of Madhuram.
