Little Skillet

Little Skillet is a cloud kitchen inside Jingletown Eats in East Oakland. I only live about 10 mins away, so I scheduled a 1pm pickup time and hoped to get the food home fast. I got a Grubhub msg that my order was ready for pickup at 1235pm. So the food sat for about 20 mins. But no harm was done as the food was fresh and tasty.I ordered a "2-pc Chicken and a side of Collard Greens." The fried chicken was moist and juicy. The crust was crispy, but not hard and crunchy. The pieces were a wing and a thigh . The collard greens were savory and flavorful. They tasted just like the greens I had in Georgia, when i was in the US Army. I also ordered "The Works," which was 2-pcs of chicken, 2 waffles, cornbread, and 1 side. My side was Mac n Cheese, and OMG it was good. It was blended well, no weird powdered cheese texture. The Chicken pieces were breast and drumstick. I usually don't like white meat, but this breast was juicy and moist. The crispy crust was an afterthought. (A hot sauce is included in the order).What's really surprising is that this food travels well as takeout. Because I would think the waffles might get soggy when packed with hot foods. Not the case. The waffles were crispy and slightly doughy. They come with a powdered sugar, and you pour on the syrup. Maybe you want to drown it with butter, but I liked it as served.So, if you like soul food, try Little Skillet @ Jingletown Eats. Remember, this is a cloud kitchen, it has no diningroom. It's strictly pickup or delivery.If you like it, it's worth the price.

My doordash order was missing half of the food. I got "the works fried chicken" with waffles, chicken, jalapeño corn muffins, and Mac and cheese for $18. Only the chicken and Mac came :( the bag was stapled shut so I know the missing items were the restaurants fault. Also no napkins or utensils were included. Seems like someone just threw my order together Disappointed

One bright side of 2020, Little Skillet gracing the East Bay with their presence. We placed our advanced pickup order and the food was hot when we got there. Definitely a plus coz some of these places just prepare it all and let it sit there and it's all cold by the time you start eating. Of course they still serve good ass fried chicken. Even the white meat which is normally gross anywhere is delish.They're only accepting takeout or delivery orders since they're in what I think is a communal kitchen?

If you like authentic Chicken'n Waffles, this is an amazing option. I used to work near their kiosk on Ritch st in San Francisco and missed it a ton when I moved to Oakland, so I was super pumped to see them open a delivery/pickup location in OaklandOrdered the family meal to feed my wife, toddler and mother-in-law. Guess who's not in the dog house anymore! :-).Crispy flavorful fried chicken; blackened chicken was tender and the hot sauce for dipping was perfect. Ordered Mac n Cheese, Mash potatoes, and waffles. Waffles were out of this world: moist, fluffy, and had just the right amount of powdered sugar. A poured syrup all over them (and the chicken of course).Also got some sweet tea and red velvet cupcakes for desert.Did I mention I'm the coolest dad/husband now? Will definitely be ordering again.All the food was well packaged, and for $60ish for the familiy meal, there was plenty to go around and plenty for leftover fried chicken breakfast :-).So happy to have Little Skillet in the Easy Bay!!!

I love shirimp and grits so I was excited to give the place a try. Sadly, I was left disappointed. The grits lacked flavor and were very bland. No attempt whatsoever was made in seasoning the grits. The fried shrimp was okay. The batter didn't really stick so that was a little disappointing. In addition, the shrimp also lacked flavor. I was looking for some sort of WOW factor but just couldn't find it. If this is how the shrimp and grits taste. I certainly don't have a desire to try anything else. If you're looking for your dishes to have no flavor, this is the place for you!!

Came to this Jingletown Oakland location after getting a few reco and I wish I would have came sooner. During the pandemic there's not much to do but if you can this is the place to support a bunch of small businesses. You can eat at a bunch of restaurants from one spot by picking up your food at the counter. We used doordash to order and thats the tricky part as you have to use mobile apps or yelp to pick your restaurant and order for pickup. When you get to the building, you check in on a tablet and/or the screen says your order is ready. I ended up getting the po boy chicken sandwich and it was awesome. It came on a roll with slaw and it had great flavor. It could have had more chicken but thats just me. It came with the best fries and they were well seasoned. I would definitely order here again and try a few other sandwiches that look fire.

This place is outrageously over priced. Yes the chicken was nicely made BUT to call a tiny wing 'white meat'? To get a half small empty cup of coleslaw salad that cost 6$?! After paying almost 30$ for lunch - we feel cheated and hungry :(

I recently had them delivered, honestly just hoping for the best. Typically when you order fried chicken for delivery, by the time it gets home is soggy and cold.But what a pleasant surprise, not only was the chicken crispy and warm but it was delicious! I also got some mac and cheese, seasoned fries, and a shrimp bowl, with cookies and velvet cup cakes. Blackened shrimp over mashed potatoes was vary tasty, I think they could do better on the shrimp count.Velvet cupcakes were.....meh, but the lemonade was off the hook!All perfectly packaged with extreme care, Little Skillet will be on my rotation!

Best Fried Chicken I've enjoyed since Covid happened! we got the Family Meal and enjoyed it at home for dinner. Their Fried Chicken was so crispy and moist and had great flavor Along with their waffles, fries, Arnold Palmer and red velvet cupcake, what a delicious meal and steal!

We met for lunch on a quiet Sunday. It was our first time there.Parking was excellent. We all parked in the alley in front. It was kinda confusing looking for the entry because there's another name on the building.Once inside, I loved the unique setting.We were able to get a table right away.We had to wait until someone addressed us, seemed a little unusual as it wasn't crowded. We ordered our meals.Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Next time, I will request an extra scoop because it wasn't enough for me.As we kept waiting to have our table cleared, my friend had to actually call out for assistance.Overall, it was a pretty good experience the food was tasty.We plan to go back on another day just to feel the vibe.
