My God. You have to be a misanthropic self-hating pretentious deplorable to give La Val's a bad review. I avoided La Val's for a year even though I lived right down the street.Excellent pizza and pasta (good enough wings) and some of the lowest prices in Berkeley. Please support La Val's or watch it turn into another soulless pan-Asian fast casual.

Average pizza, but really good sandwiches. However, rather worn, not-too clean furniture and freezing cold inside.

Was our go to place during lockdownQuick in to order and out to picnic tables in courtyard. Hazy IPA and the pizza was good too. It all still is 4 years later!

The La Val's Pizza location on Euclid Ave in Berkeley was the pizza I ate the most of (it was part of my routine) when I attended the University of California, Berkeley (2015 to 2019, inclusive). I enjoyed the pizza in take out form at various department events on-campus as well as in original form dining in-restaurant. Windows overlooking the avenue and sidewalk provided a means to people watch while dining. Workers were consistent and reliable. Per my tastes, I enjoyed a variety of the flavors/types, preferring ones with more than just cheese as toppings.

La Val's is a solid place to get pizza in Berkeley! Ive visited them a few times and have never been disappointed by the food or the workers. The first time, I tried their mozzarella sticks which were perfectly fried and delicious on their own and with ranch. I've tried their margarita style pizza, veggie pizza, and most recently the cheese pizza. I really like a thin crust and La Val's nails the thinness of their crusts. The sauce could be a bit more flavorful, but again it's pretty consistent. My least favorite of the three i've tried would be the margarita. It was too many tomatoes for my liking. My favorite would definitely be the cheese, it's a classic! I also appreciate that their pizza isn't super greasy. I will definitely be back soon! The establishment is pretty spacious and there are some benches outside in a really cute area which I very much appreciate. I definitely recommend checking them out!

Walt from Walt's Adventures here and my adventure today lands me in Berkeley, California. I found myself at La Val's Pizza. Parking is on the street, they have a great but shared picnic table area for their outdoor seating, and this place rocks! Inside, they have a pool table, Fooz Ball table, pinball machine, and great food. 4 stars because, for me, I think a thicker sauce would be better. I cannot wait to return.

I ordered an XL sausage, roasted peppers and mushroom pizza. Considering the price and no delivery fee, it was a good pizza. However, the sausage was barely noticeable and as the pizza cooled, the cardboard character of the crust became more noticeable.

La Val's is a no frills budget student hangout. The decor is rickety, there's a pool table in one room and a sports large screen TV in another, and greasy picnic tables and benches outside in the courtyard. And, candidly, I've had better pizzas in several Berkeley spots. So why do I give them five stars? This place is an incredible value. Their toppings aren't as gourmet or elegant as Rose or State Flour (2 of my local faves), but they make an excellent New York style crust, thin, crispy with a little char. And the toppings may not include burata,or wild mushrooms, or arugula, but they do the basics very well. I like the sausage with garlic and onions, but there are all the usual options. And the pies are half the price of their more elegant competitors. The value includes beverages. They have about 8 taps with artisanal beers and ciders. Washes the pizzas down very nicely. They also have excellent chicken wings. I haven't tried the sandwiches, pastas, or salads yet, but what I've seen looks pretty good. And although the furnishings are very modest, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Bottom line: not a great choice for a first date or a business meal, but perfect for a delicious meal without hurting your wallet.
