This place used to be such a hit but for the last 3 times, they have messed up my cake. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed but it's been an embarrassment to present these cakes for big events. I will permanently have to cancel this bakery off my list. The cake I got last weekend was disgusting. You could straight up taste the granules of sugar in it. I got a mango flavor which was no where to be tasted. It tasted like a vanilla cake with little pieces of mangoes in it. These are extremely pricey cakes which I don't mind paying for but their standards have dropped quite a bit and it's just no longer worth the money and hassle. I have given this place three separate chances and it's been a let down all three times. It's finally time to say goodbye La farfalla.

We visit this strip mall often when we find ourselves in Newark, and occasionally pop our heads into La Farfalla. They offer a pretty good deal on bulk refrigerated buns and frozen dumplings, and have a pretty good assortment of breads and pastries to choose from.On our last trip here, we bought a pistachio bun. It was definitely our LEAST favorite bun of the batch we chose, and highly regretted getting it. Overall the flavors here are ok, but they never seem to hit it out of the park from the ones we've bought so far. Service was friendly, and shop is pretty clean looking from the exterior.

I bought their rainbow swiss roll cakes, which come in different flavors. I never saw any shop doing this. You get to try a different taste. I like their swiss roll, if you are not sweet. This is a must-try cake to get. The cake is soft and spongy. Also, I had their frozen food, like shrimp wontons and beef dumplings. Both are also good, and the price is very reasonable for the packaging. I will come back here more often to try out others.

Review for baked goods only!Stopped by here after visiting the Lion Market as a newbie to Fremont. The store looked tiny but they do sell frozen dumplings, drinks and cakes along with baked bread. Their assortment of bread included pineapple bun (which I got), hot dog bun, taro bun, cream bun, toast... etc. I quite enjoyed the ones I got.Didn't get a chance to try anything else but definitely in my plans to visit here again.

Came here for the individual mousse cake and was pretty disappointed when they didn't have any. There was a box of sliced fluffy Japanese cheesecakes that I opted getting, but soon regretted it because of how expensive it was for 4 small slices ($15). Each slice was a different flavor: matcha, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. They were light and fluffy, and filled with whipped cream which was surprising since Japanese cheesecake doesn't have cream in it. Each flavor was distinctive and delicious, but it seriously wasn't worth the price.

GREAT FROZEN CHINESE DUMPLINGS HERE. If you have frozen dumplings on your grocery list don't get them from the grocery store, get them from here. Review is only for the frozen dumplings and not their baked goods. They taste fresher, the skins are thin, and it's bursting with fillings. They are located in the freezer on the right side when you walk in, they will be in black takeout containers with clear lids or in bags. They were almost sold out around 2:30 pm which means tons of people are buying them. Some pricing for the ones we bought:-Pork wonton = $6.99-Shrimp, Pork, Chive Wonton = $7.99-Shrimp, Pork, Chive dumpling = $x.xx (forgot pricing)The dumpling we pan-cooked gyoza style with oil and did the other half boiled. Both were really good and tasted home-made and fresh, like something an older relative would make.Wontons same high quality, very good in leftover chicken soup on a cold day.If you've never been here it's inside the Lion Market, just look for Lion in the plaza and walk in, it'll be down the entrance walkway on the left.

Buns. Buns. I should say 'Bao'. I love their meat baos and taro baos. 6 bao-s in a bag and I always get 2-3 bags. I got their roll cakes once (the rainbow one) where is a slice of different flavors in a box. It was rather dry but I do like the taro and green tea flavor. They sell individual buns and frozen dumplings too.

Ordered two cakes for my bf's birthday: durian and peach/mango cake. They were able to accommodate making two smaller cakes which was nice, a few places I called couldn't do it. When I got there, the place was really hot and there were barely any bakery items on the shelves. I was a little nervous for how the cake was going to turn out. The cake wasn't ready as promised but it was delicious! My bf enjoyed the durian cake but not so the peach/mango cake. I didn't even try the durian cake (yuck!) but the peach/mango cake was delicious! Both cakes weren't too sweet. I'd definitely come back and order more cakes from here.

We ordered cakes from La Farfalla twice in October 2021 - Black Forest Cake and Strawberry Shortcake. They were both very good - light, not overly sweet. The black forest cake used maraschino cherries rather than fresh (which may be due to seasonality). The ordering process was easy - we placed the orders over the phone a day or two before we needed them. They wrote what we wanted on the cakes and had them ready for pick up on time. One thing we absolutely loved and appreciated was the box the cake came in -- it was beautiful and very functional with handles built in. Made quite the impression and was very useful!

My friend picked up some goodies from this location and I am obsessed! Their pork buns are so juicy, plenty of meat, and the bun is so soft, melt in your mouth! Their white toast bread was also so fluffy and fresh, and I ate about 4 slices in one sitting! Tasty by itself or with butter! Prices also seem very reasonable and will be a frequent spot for me!
