Krispy Krunchy Chicken

This chicken place is inside hometown market, a convenience store right in front of Lake Merritt Bart station. I was planning to go either Chinatown or Lake chalet by the lake but since I arrived on hot day (90 degrees), I decided to cross the street and come inside this store to have a bite and to cool down a bit.I just wanted a small bite so when I saw a sign by the entrance that you get free fries when you order a crispy sandwich, I thought that will do. Wrong! The place has no AC and it's hot as hell! The place is a mess and needs cleaning. I should have turned around but I can't make myself walk in this hot weather. As soon as I placed my order, cashier just grabbed a bag with the sandwich for who knows how long had been sitting in the counter. And no fries? Cashier said sign is old and promo was over. What's the purpose of the sign then? To mislead customers? I took a bite. It wasn't crispy at all. Took another bite. Gross, I can't eat it. I threw it away and left. Do yourself a favor, please don't come here! Not even for free.

The chicken: some days it's good, some days it's bad, most of the time it's just ok. The donuts: always good. Coffee: usually decent. Unfortunately, it's Oakland so there's always trash outside.

Pretty fun no frills fried chicken. I got three pieces dark meat. Near the Lake Merritt Bart. They have other items on menu like fried fish and shrimp. Fun and easy. Comes with a biscuit. They didn't have sides today.

Now under new ownership, they totally remodeled what was just donuts and Chinese food prior to the change in management. It has a wide range of products that you would find in a convenience store like toiletries and everything else under the sun. They also still have the awesome donuts, so maybe they worked out a deal to have donuts still made by the previous owners. Along with that, they added the Krispy Krunchy franchise. They have a special for 8 pieces for $8.49. Unfortunately they don't make good fried chicken. It's too salty and overcooked. Hometown donuts/Krispy Krunchy/Convenience Store has decent donuts but pass on the chicken. As Charles Barkley would say: "it's turrible".

However, I'm not a fan - chicken is tough and dry, and the biscuits have an almost lard-style taste to them. They also keep their stuff under a heat lamp for an extended period of time, which could lead to things being all dried out.This is one of the few options for chicken in the area, but those looking for something a bit better should just make their way over to the Popeye's in Fruitvale.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken is one of the many names for this location. offerings: typical KKC menu. most food ready to go under heat lamps. .eats: 4 chicken tenders, i dip, 1 biscuit (5.79)-biscuit tasted odd, more than just butter, maybe lard too.-tartar sauce tasted very mayo/vinegared based.-tender thickly battered, slightly spicy taste: faux cajun.leftovers:-indian food no longer seen on steamtable-service was quick. ordered food that i saw under the heat lamp.-parking lot has no empty space.

This is not a food review. Just about their service. I placed an order on their online order system and it was charged on my credit card. I was waiting for the order getting ready for half an hour. The order status is still "IN PROGRESS". I called them. No answer. I went to the pick up counter. They said, "the restaurant seems closed today". I tried to cancel the order but I could not find the way to do it online. They did not answer my calls. They never tried to reach out to me, either. I would never get back to this place even if their food is super good which I could not even taste.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken is more affordable compared to other fried chicken options. It's not the best I've ever had but it's pretty good for the price. I really like their honey biscuits.This Krispy Krunchy Chicken is part of a larger liquor store which has a lot of different drink, snack options as well as a full donut shop. All of those can purchased at the same register.They have those Chicken Sandwiches. I've never had the Popeye's one, but people have not caused a riot/robbed anyone for those.

The shrimp was horrible They don't know how to cook shrimp Plus they charge you extra 99c for credit card or debit card & they take forever for your order This is basically a little corner trying to specialize in everything donuts , chicken , beer , groceries Basically a jack of all trades Ruining everything else

WORST fried chicken ever ! I be had krispy krunchy chicken from other locations many times and we're always good. This place's chicken were dry and hard -- leftovers from other KK locations the next day were better than this place .... If you really have a craving for fried chicken -- keep going, even KFC on its worst day is way better than this place
