First time trying Nigerian food and wow the food is good. It took me some time to get used to the texture of the fufu but I got it.From pulling a piece of fufu to dipping it into the soup and swallowing it whole, is such an interesting experience. Blessed to try foods from different cultures. We ordered both Egusi and Ox tail soup, and they were hot and flavorful. The meat is tender and cooked perfectly. Ahhh the meat just falls off the bone. Not much space to dine but great for take out and bring home to eat!

*update: While I appreciate the owner reaching out via review response I have to politely decline the invitation to come back and try them out again. We spent almost $80 and got hardly any meat, cold food, burnt ends of fish...all provided in the photos. No refund was issues. No kind of credit was offered. Do I want to go and waste another $80? No. Not in this economy. I understand the bank issue but that doesn't address the lack of quality in the food being served. I can't recommend this spot, at all.

Ordered the Egosi soup with yam and jollof rice.Could see that both plates were heated in the microwave. Soup tasted burnt and the jollof rice was oily with a few slices of onions. Tomatoes tossed on top that got reheated all together. Not worth the $50 for two plates.

I was introduced to this place by my Nigerian brother in law. He loves it and now it's a staple for me too! Their Jollof rice and suya is BOMB! The owner is really sweet and the food is incredible! Not too much seating, so I would definitely take it to go. It also conveniently located across from West Oakland BART.

This review is strictly for the service, not the tast and quality of food. I order online at 12:30 pm and it said my order would be ready at 1:09, but then at 1:09 the pickup time changes to 1:29pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 to give them some time and he was still preparing it. This was my lunch break and since the order was prepaid online I stayed till he finished at 2:20. I must say this is the absolute WORST service everIt's only one guy running the show and I respect that but he tries to accept every Uber Eats, Grub Hub order that comes in and he not staffes for thisI come here 2x a year because it's never fails that you will wait a life time. Time is money and he just wasted mine.I would never recommend this place till he stop being stubborn and hire help.

Absolutely nasty . I came down from Sacramento to pick up my kids from the airport and wanted some African food . I walk in and saw two Hispanic people (the workers). One didn't speak English . The vibe of the place was not good . They microwaved my food . The most horrible Egusi and Okra soup I have ever had . I am definitely going to request a refund . Yall should be ashamed of yourselves . Hispanics warming up African food. That was the first .

Food was hot, flavorful, and fresh out of the pot. The portion (for the soup) was not fitting the price. The owner went to get a bowl of water that looked like something was smashed in it and urged us to wash our hands in it. I declined and he looked in and noticed it was dirty. Went to swap out the water and it still had stuff in it. I couldn't quiet figure it out but inferred later when I ate the smashed yam. The smashed yam tasted like the bowl it was smashed in. It was disgusting. After one bite, I spat it out and threw the rest of the yam away. I ate the stew alone but without the yam, for substance, I was hungry a short while after. Not worth the money. Maybe another dish would have satisfied but the hygiene was questionable. I cant recommend off of my visit.

As an individual who has never tried Nigerian food, I was extremely excited to do so with my colleague! However, the experience was quite the opposite. We ordered the following:- Stewed Beef- Egwusi Soup w Oxtails and FufuThe side of stewed beef had three burnt, overcooked pieces of beef. The texture was comparable to stale beef jerky, except it was inedible. I will note the stew that the meat was cooked in was extremely flavorful. As for the Egwusi Soup, the oxtails were tender, but were naked since they barely had any meat on them. It is unfortunate to write this review since the flavors of the food were super good; however, it did taint my colleague and I's first experience with Nigerian food.

It was my first time trying Egusi soup, fufu, and jollof rice - and this place did not disappoint! The owner was very kind and gave me more fufu than usual. Omg, the flavors were flavoring!! It tasted a lot like the Filipino stews I grew up eating, except that this was heavily spiced. Although the egusi was a little oil ladened, I did not feel lethargic afterwards- which is usually the case for me personally when I have oily foods. I was glad to have enjoyed a heavily vegetal cuisine. The oxtails were gas too!! My favorite thing was the jollof rice. The interior isn't much but there is seating and feels homey, like I'm eating in someone's dining room. I'm excited to come back!

The food is unfortunately incredible. Most of the time it's the most delicious food you can order from a restaurant. I always get the jollof rice platter with oxtails. The rice is spiced perfectly, the oxtails are incredible, tender and flavorful. The accompanied plantain, cucumbers and onions are perfect antidotes to the spice. I say unfortunately because the service is wild, they stole $30 and gave me the runaround about it.In December I put in an online order for lunch. Google says they're open 10am-9pm and the website let me order for pickup at 11:45. I have to get the kid down for a nap so we're on a tight schedule. The restaurant is closed when I get there at 11:45, I wait until 12 and it's still closed so I leave. I call the restaurant which goes to the owners cellphone. He says they don't open until noon. I tell him the website says differently and they should change it and can he please just refund me. He asks me to text him so I do. He is slow to answer my texts. Finally at 8:30pm after 8 hours and many texts to check in he says that doordash has refunded me. I was busy at that point and hadn't thought to check until today because I just went back and had a delicious meal and remembered I should call instead of putting in an order online. Turns out doordash had never refunded me and I just had put in a dispute through my bank. Oh and sometimes the food is inconsistent. Like 2/3rd of the time it's completely fresh and delicious. 1/3 is microwaved (still good) and there's barely any meat. Like $8 for two bites of oxtail. Anyway, this place in a mess. I'll probably be back though. tldr place your order in person or on the phone. The hours on google and the website are wrong. You can't trust the owner to refund you when we says he did. Sometimes the food is the best thing you've ever eaten and sometimes it's way to expensive for what they give you.
