Knudsen's Restaurant-Ice Creamery

The service is great, the owner is hardworking and hands on! The shop is a buzz with laughter and smiles. I am a big ice cream fan and love their mint chip. The food service is quick and the food quality is good.

Definitely reminds me of Thrifty ice cream. They have a plethora of flavors from the tried & true Cookies n Cream, to more unique ones like Knudsen's Toffee Nut, & more. They are very generous with their scoops.They also serve candy.

We have been going here since we have had small children who are now twenty something. It's nice to go back and things are still the same. It's no frills but it's old school Castro Valley as we know it.Parking is in the back.On this visit, Santa and Mrs. Claus were making a visit, so we got out in time before families came in which goes to show you how much Knudsen's represents the Castro Valley community.

Knudsen's wasn't part of neither my teen nor childhood days. My childhood in the ghetto didn't have any ice cream shops. My teen years i liked BEER!Didn't seek nor know of Knudsen's @Southland mall. K's been here for years. Selling more than ice cream i.e cakes, burgers, chilis, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, kid's meals, sides.Lenghty floor space with many tables, booths. Waitresses waiting to serve me. Looked at menu, passed. Went to ice cream counter.Licks: double scoop-cherry vanilla, rainbow sherbet (10)-generous scoops, cherry frozen stiff, tasteless. vanilla flavor faint. Sugarness overpowering.-sherbet colours(cream, orange, green, red) dazzling. Flavors nil, sugar plentiful.4 stars great value. Not my kind of ice cream. Kids will lick it to the last drip!Parking in the back.

As someone who grew up in CV, nostalgia brought me back here to try it again but it definitely doesn't feel the same anymore with the new renovation. It's half as big now and they no longer have the candy counter in the back. The quality of service is also a lot worse too so I'd recommend taking your ice cream to-go. We waited over 30 minutes just for someone to scoop our ice cream and our waitress never brought us water on a really hot day :(The ice cream was still good though and luckily their portions are pretty massive. But I won't be dining in if there's a next time I'm here.

We were craving ice cream a few weeks back and decided to try this spot out since we were in the area for grocery shopping. No designated parking lot so you will have to try your luck with street parking. You can opt to dine or do take out. We decided to get a small cup of ice cream to go. The employees allowed us to try a few flavors before purchasing which was nice. We ended up getting the coconut ice cream. Portion size was decent but it is a bit pricey for ice cream. The coconut ice cream was creamy, mildly sweet and filled with coconut chunks. They have a good variety of flavors so if you are around the area and wants some good quality ice cream, spot by and try it out.

Yummy Jersey Whip!!! I was in the area and remembered how I'd come here for sundaes back in the day...10 years later hahah I am back and ordered my Sundae with Jersey Whip Topping. The cashier asked me what's that?... and apparently it's called Malt Chocolate Whipped Cream now. The taste on my tongue was exactly what I remembered still perfectly delicious and ice cream is nice and creamy.

The best ice cream sundae around! And I'm picky, lol. First of all, the ice cream is perfectly creamy and delicious - cookies n cream is a favorite of mine, but you can't go wrong with any of their many flavors. They also use real whipped cream (none of the store-bought cans here), have thick and rich hot fudge, and a bunch more toppings to choose from. My go-to is a cookies n cream hot fudge sundae with whipped cream at minimum, but the chopped almonds are also really tasty with it. The savory food is a little more hit-or-miss, but the crab sandwich is fire! There is quite a bit of parking available behind the restaurant - you have to compete with the other businesses nearby, but can usually find something quickly (even at peak times). If you have been in the past, they have reopened in a smaller format. They still have the coin machines for the kiddos in the back, and a good amount of seating available. The servers are always very friendly and welcoming, and are happy to fix anything (ex: an incorrect order or a coin machine that eats your change).

Delicious ice cream treats at Knudsen's. Good place for families to gather for eats and ice cream desserts and flavors.
