Food is good here: fish tastes fresh and grilled entrees are cooked well with a light yet flavorful teriyaki sauce. Wait staff are friendly and attentive but not well organized (e.g., one staff will come up to take our beverage and food order and a few minutes later another would come by and ask to take our order again). The parking lot is confusing with most spaces marked off in green with time limits varying from 15 mins to 60 mins. And, they're not good spaces either, all of them are drawn as compact spaces. All in all, it's a good restaurant worth returning to.

I was so excited to try this place after all the hype and recommendations. Finally had some time to try. Located in the same plaza as Ox 9 Lanzhou Noodles and Hot Love Cafe with plenty of parking in the plaza. It was a hot hot weekend afternoon and we were hoping to cool down with some fresh sushi. The restaurant was small and the air was warm. I am not sure if it is because they had no AC or too many people in the restaurant, but it was warm. At first it didn't bother us as much so we got seated. We ordered our dishes and they came in okay time but took a while for my boyfriend's dish that I had to ask if it was coming out soon. The food was okay. Nothing really stood out for me. I keep seeing the viral sushi in a bamboo box but didn't look worth it to me. We ended up eating so fast because the warm/heat in the restaurant was getting unbearable. It was so bad that we were all sweating and felt so much better going out and feeling the slight breeze. Our waitress also seem inexperience and confused. She would give just one of us water when we all needed refills, would forget some components on our dishes, gave the meals to the wrong people, and just overall a bit rude. Overall, I don't think I will be coming back unfortunately. Might be going to Satomi or Mioki when I want some Japanese food. I hate to be mean on these reviews but my visit was not very good.

The food is always high quality here at Kiya- it's my go-to sushi spot! I usually opt for my favorites: Under the Sea, Tuna Mango, or Sexy Lady Roll.I will say, the 'Monkey Brain' dish had only a small portion of spicy tuna, as you can see in the photo. I was looking forward to trying this dish and was underwhelmed. The service is always spot on and I love the cozy feeling inside, so I know the next time I dine here will still be delightful!

Great sushi place. Rather small but the friendliest service. Fresh fish and a variation of other foods as well. Only been twice but have been satisfied each time. Small and busy shopping center and parking lot but worth a visit. Great selection of rolls. Because it is a somewhat small spot, it can get loud and feel somewhat stuffy, you are packed pretty close to other diners, so if that's not your vibe, just be aware. Doesn't bother me though and would still recommend.

Note: this is a review on their lunch specials (11:00am - 3:00pm) only. My bf and I came on a Friday during our lunch break for a quick bite. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating. Service was standard. The server did check up on my table twice. As soon as we sat down, they brought us edamame to munch on as we look through their extensive menu. The lunch special is a GREAT value! I ordered the sushi lunch roll combo (spicy scallop, avocado hamachi, and avocado unagi) for only $15.95! Filling to rice ratio is pretty decent but the sushi rice does fall apart really easily. My boyfriend got the salmon teriyaki special and it came with a generous amount of salad. The teriyaki sauce is on the sweeter side compare to other restaurants and the salmon was a tad dry. For the price, I think the quality and amount of food is unbeatable in today's economy. I think if you looking for a quick affordable lunch meal, Kiya sushi is great! I would say the sushi didn't wow me and everything was pretty standard. Probably will be coming back to try their other items when I have a chance.

We got the mango spider roll and the Dream Box!Mango spider roll was great but the Dream Box was very memorable. It was my first time trying uni (sea urchine) properly; it was light and sweet! The price was reasonable for how fresh it tasted and filling it ended up being, as well as being accompanied with a hefty bowl of soup! It's a great opportunity to try a variety of seafood they have to offer! Towards the end they give you complimentary matcha ice cream which was so delicious we had asked them for the brand they used.

You will leave here happy! A nice little sushi place in a tiny strip mall.I ordered the sashimi and nigiri it was a bit pricy but man it was a so delicious. It is chefs choice so it's kinda of a mini omakase experience on a budget! I just wished for otoro or maybe chutoro. I definitely will be back with more friends!

*4.5*Another one of mom's favorite spots, Kiya Sushi is the latest restaurant to inhabit a storefront that has been home to a handful few businesses in the last few years and is hopefully here to stay. At 8PM on a Wednesday, Kiya was still pretty full, but we were seated right as we walked in. Their decor is typical of your average local Japanese restaurant and so is the service - polite but not too overbearing. After ordering, our food came out within 10 minutes, starting with a complimentary bowl of unsalted edamame.Big Scallop Roll ($14.95): more like baby scallop roll to be honest. Scallops were fresh, firm, and sweet, made sweeter by the sauce, and with a California roll base.Deluxe Chirashi Don ($36.96): I surprisingly haven't had much in the way of raw fish in the East Bay, so although I initially balked a little at the price I decided to try this item to my great satisfaction. The sashimi was all fresh and firm, save for the wonderful creaminess of the tuna, but my favorite elements of the assortment were the amaebi (sweet and salty from the tobiko + fun deep fried shrimp head), the scallop (nice with lemon juice and black tobiko), and the fresh and flavorful uni. The seasoning on the sushi rice was also above average, which made finishing my bowl easy. Complimentary mango ice cream for dessert! I'm sure we'll be back soon.

Visiting the in laws during Christmas week, and we happened to come across this amazing sushi spot. We wanted to stay in and keep it cozy so we decided to order to go. As we looked into their menu, they offered not only sushi itself but there's also bento box and sushi platters! We all came to an agreement and ordered a mix sushi platter, the amount of sushi it came with, it fed up to 3-4 people. The service was great even though it was for a pick up Togo. The waiter told me it would take another 5 minutes as they're packing it up in the back.Sushi quality was fresh and everything tastes so good that I wished we had ordered more. Next time we will definitely try to dine in!
