Kabana Restaurant

We were in town for a game and was craving Pakistani food. We ended up ordering a bunch of dishes like stuffed naan, spinach, nihari, seekh kabob etc. everything was sooo delicious that we're still talking about it a week later.Service was friendly. They also had chai and some desserts. Comfortably accommodated our party of four.

i've written a couple of glowing reviews of this restaurant over the years, and their tandoori fish remain supreme. But Kabana seems to have switched from (delicious) basmati rice to converted rice. I think it's converted basmati, so it's not as bad as regular converted rice, but this is a tremendous downgrade in quality. Rice, is very important to a meal of this kind, and frankly I don't expect to ever buy rice at this restaurant again. We'll have to make basmati rice at home and get Kabana entrees ad takeout to eat at home with our good rice. this will make it a lot less convenient for when we want to get takeout. Other than that I think their food is excellent and I feel sorry I've downgraded them a star. if you like converted rice, then you should add back the star I removed

This used to be our go-to place for Pakistani food - the flavors and food were outstanding. However, in the last year or two, the food has undergone a shift in quality: the dishes now lack the same punch of flavor and spice. We ordered the palak paneer and it seemed dry and not very tasty. The chicken curry was 3 pieces of chicken bone with no meat so a bowl of goopy sauce. Aloo begun was bland. The owner was in the kitchen so we were puzzled as to why the food has changed so much. While the service was never outstanding, the switch to lady servers has not necessarily been positive - they are less attentive and less friendly than the old crew. The one positive is that the Wells Fargo bank is closed so you can park in the lot next to the restaurant.

We went to Kabana with a friend whose mother is Pakistani. She ordered a dish her mother often made and she was impressed. We all loved what we ordered and can't wait to go back. The chicken karahi was our favorite.

I really enjoyed my takeout dinner from Kabana!! The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night which was a good sign to me. The staff is friendly and prompt. The food was ready for pick up when they said it would be too (25 minutes for pick up). I tried the chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, regular naan, garlic naan and basmati rice. Everything was great!! The garlic naan is incredible the perfect combination of fluffy bread with a great crispy crust on the edges and bottom. Both the tikka masala and Palak paneer had plenty of chicken and paneer. I really enjoyed the meal. Good portions too!

So I finally ate in the restaurant instead of ordering delivery. The food is crazy amazing delivered. Well it's even better when you eat it in the restaurant! Kabana is the best Pakistani restaurant I've had in the Bay Area. The food all has an addictive savory quality that just makes you want to keep on taking bites. The chicken biryani is so rich and flavorful with notes of lemon, nice and spicy, moist and delicious. Aloo Ghobi is a yellow cauliflower and potato curry type stew, also rich and spicy. The Chicken Boti is big moist boneless pieces of chicken grilled in a special oven with a red spicy, savory, sour rub that is just divine. The paratha is fried bread that is the perfect accompaniment to the dishes as an alternative to the Na'an or garlic na'an which is so good. Don't forget to order the spicy green chutney and a side of yogurt to cool your mouth between spicy bites. Support this Berkeley gem because we want it to stick around and thrive. Dining in, we got a chance to experience the warm & friendly family who own and run the place with excellent service.

Kabana is a Berkeley staple for some good halal food. I have been going here with family for many years and it never disappoints. I love their biryani, it's my favorite dish. They have indoor seating so it's a good place to go with family and dine in, and the staff and service is generally pretty good as well.

I have been going to this restaurant for years. They have the best Karahi Chicken - it is not too spicy, affordable & delicious. Highly recommended!

My family has been coming to Kabana for over 15 years, the ladies who run the restaurant are very friendly and efficient. The food is always delicious, try the specials on the weekends - highly recommend!

I got the " Goat Trotters " Curry. Goat's Feet Curry, or ' PAYA SALAN ' is a Delicacy from Indian & Pakistani Muslim Cuisine !!! It can be a ' Rarity ', but luckily for Locals Kabana do make it !!! It is a ' SLOW COOKED CURRY ' .The main Edible Part is the Gravy. There is Fat on the Bones if one wants to Ingest it. but the Bones are nice to ' Chomp On , or Suck on. The Gravy is great to Dunk thr Naan or Garlic Naan in. One may also Drink the Gravy lole a ' Hot Winter Broth ' ...Was ' Low Salt ', but a Wedge of Lime was provided for Squeezing !!! The Naan was Warm, Soft , Fresh & Fluffy pairing well with the Entree ....They also serve Carrot Halwa & Kulfi Ice Creams. A ' Very Centrally Located ' Local Indian-Pakistani Eatery to Relish !!! Excellent Goat , Lamb & Chocken Curries + Biryani Dishes. ( Indian Steam Frird Rices ). Good, Small Family Owned & Run Local Business to SUPPORT Post Covid - 19 !!! Enjoy It !!!!
