If you're looking for authentic Nigerian food, this is the closest you will get to it in the Bay area! Had the pleasure of coming across this food truck at a neighborhood outdoor market event, and saw the line so knew it had to be good! Important to note: this food truck is halal! I ended up getting the chicken platter with jollof rice and plantains, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It all looked and smelled delicious! Despite the line, they get through customers pretty quickly (love that they text you when your food is ready!) My chicken platter was literally heaping (they definitely are generous with the portions, which is a great bang for your buck!) The rice had a nice smokey flavor to it and the chicken was super tender. And those plantains! I love a nicely cooked plantain with a little crisp at the end. Such an amazing flavor sensation! Definitely follow this food truck on social media if you want to find them or know where they will be next. They are pretty much a staple at many Oakland events, and also cater.

With an abundance of taco trucks, it's refreshing to find some Nigerian food. As the name implies, the focus seems to be around Jollof Rice with various protein pairing options. Haven't had much Nigerian food before, but left a fan.Jollof Rice w/ Chicken: 1 chicken leg, 4 pieces of plantains and a bunch of rice. It's super tasty. The jollof rice had a nice smoky and tomato-y flavors, with undertones of other great spices going on. The chicken leg had nice firm edges, like it was BBQed just right, with a tasty red sauce on top. The plantains were sort of sweet. Very satisfying, albeit quite carby.Vegetarian Jollof Rice: No meat, but still managed to be $23 when all was said and done. I heard other people complain that the goat was really tough, so glad I went veggie this time. The jollof rice was smoky delicious as always. The spinach was really good too, like how did they get so much flavor in that? And the protein was black eyed peas with nice flavoring. Plus a few fried plantains for a sweet edge. A really good mix of flavors and no tough meat to gnaw on!

My first time trying Nigerian food and it was so good! The Jollof Kitchen food truck was at the Tavaral Night Market in SF so had to check it out since they're usually in Oakland. I got the jollof rice, chicken and plantain plate. The jollof rice and chicken had so much flavor! And the plantains were sweet and the ends were a little bit crispy, it was so good. Great meal, I really enjoyed it.

I was excited to see a food truck with Nigerian food. I ordered the beef, jollof and plantains and the taste of the rice was smokey and delicious. There is cow skin (ponmo) in some of the beef dishes. The food wasn't hot at all when I got it so this is always a major let down. Especially when you're excited to grub down so it made me wonder how long it had been out of the hot temperature. The beef was incredibly dry and hard. You'll see the burnt pieces I was given. This was disappointing because as delicious as how the sauce was, I wouldn't serve dried, and burnt meat to customers. I was very let down because the quality just wasn't there. It was very tough and would not recommend this dish.I'm hoping it was an off day because I got this dish since another review mentioned the tender beef they received during a festival. The staff were nice and you can order through a tablet at the front. Nice to see more diverse food trucks in the bay, especially since there aren't many African restaurants.

We had this for lunch today at Tesla and let me tell you, I was pleasantly suprised. The rice was so flavorful, but bland at the same time, in a good way. It was not overpowering. It was so rich and thick, and the flavors were really blended well. The fish was fried perfectly, and it was seasoned like crazy! It was so good. It tasted so good together. The plantains were a nice way to finish off the meal. Hands down one of the best lunches I have had here in 7 years. I will absolutely eat here again!

Snagged one of the last plates at Black Joy festival. Worth the long line. They said they only had the chicken plate left but I asked if they could make mine vegetarian so they gave me more spinach instead. A said his chicken drumstick delish. Rice was pleasantly smoky and flavored with a generous hand, a little lumpy being the end but tender bite, not mushy. Not for the spice-averse. Spinach was also well spiced and still bright green. A little salty if you're watching that in your diet. Def will get again - already planning next visit with other veg/ans. Truck so food comes in plastic take out containers, with plastic sporks.

Just had their special plate with chicken at the 4th of July block party in San Francisco via the restaurants food truck. I've always wanted to try jollof rice so I was so excited to try it from this spot! I saw that they won an award for best jollof at a festival recently so I had high expectations lol it was really good! I loved the jollof rice and the beans especially. I feel like they gave a good portion of the plantains greens and carbs. The only thing I wish is that I had more chicken! But other than that, it was super yummy and I will def be back!

I saw Jollof Kitchen's truck at OMCA's on Friday evening and decided to order their vegetarian plate with jollof rice, beans, plantains, and spinach. It was $20, so not cheap sadly, but the food was quite good and savory overall. The spinach was probably the saltiest part, and my personal preference would've been for the plantains to be crispier, but I did really like the rice and beans. The food had a smoky flavor. I'm glad they offer multiple options of proteins so those who eat mat or seafood have several options to choose from.

I picked this truck to try based on yelp reviews, it was a failure for me. I got the beef platter, it was $29! If the beef was moist and delicious, I wouldn't care about the price as much. I paid for super dry inedible beef pieces that were super hard and stringy dry. The rice was just ok, a bit too salty for me. What i did like was the plantains, those were perfect.

Wow, it was my first time trying this food. It was so delicious! We finished everything. The seasoning was so rich and flavorful. We truly enjoyed the rice, beans, and fried plantains--my staff had chickens. All were amazing, especially the fufu, which was so soft, chewy, and absolutely delicious. I will definitely follow you.Monique, Bellissima Day Spa 510 390 4799Bellissimaberkey.com
