My mother in law sent me here for the halal hot links, it was my first time. Wow, was this a nice and clean market. I had accidentally gone to a store a few stores down thinking it was this store and was taken back at how badly shaped the other store was in comparison to this store. Like night and day. It was well stocked, everything looked clean and very organized. The lady at the door didn't say hi to me until I said hello but whatever. So I go to the back to buy meats and the hot links. They had so much different varieties of meats, halal pepperoni, etc. The guy behind the counter seemed annoyed and kind of rushed me, maybe he had a long day? Regardless, I got what I needed with no wait time. The hot links were about $15 dollars for a dozen. I mean it's a little pricey but it's worth it. They are super yummy and not too spicy. But they are pretty greasy. Grab the napkins! There is no parking garage, so you have to find something on the streets. Good luck with that! Overall, it was a good store and I'd go back again. Now, to make time to visit the restaurant next door!

This is the only store we can find fresh goat and since it is one of the best meats you can eat we are always looking to buy it fresh. As far as fat content goat is better than chicken and it is more sustainable than any other red meat. The store has so many amazing cultural cuisines and it is fun to look around at everything you think you couldn't get in the US.

Good grocery store for spices, rice, canned food and of course halal meat. They have a wide selection from goat, beef, lamb, chicken. Also sandwich meat, hot links and hot dogs. Prices are very reasonable. Service is decent. Just be aware other customers might try to cut the line. " wait for your turn" does not apply here.

The young cashier lady mischarged me $50 for $13 worth of food, then refunded me $96 before asking me to pay another $60. What? Am i wrong for feeling uncomfortable using my card for 3 consecutive transactions, being charged over $110 total for $13 of lamb? I said "just void it all because I don't feel comfortable getting charged again after multiple mistakes, with growing transaction amounts!" The young woman made no apologies either, and believe it or not, suggested i was responsible for some mistakes, then finally accused me of trying to "rip off the store"?! No way!!Watch your words!! The boss literally sent her away after that. The boss lady was professional however, deescalated and resolved the situation. Sad to miss out on the lamb that was recommended by a coworker, but that woman crossed way over the line!!

This used to be my regular go to place, specifically for any meat items. However, yesterday I am completely disappoint with the service I received. I specifically asked for Goat meat to the person in meat section. Everything went smooth. When I begin to cook, it completely smelled so unusual to me, that I asked some one from my family who do have much better idea about cookery than that of me. To the surprise that I came into know, it was not mutton but lamb meat. It's so disappointing ,when you pay the higher price than the other supplier assuming you will get the best one and at the end you just feel you got betrayed..

This place is wonderful! The staff is helpful and friendly, and the meat counter is very well-regarded in the area. A wonderful source of local lamb. Why is lamb imported from New Zealand? It's crazy, when Bay Area lamb tastes so good! There is a special kind of hot sausage they make here better than any other place, but I forget the name. People come from all around to buy it. And the meat is halal, so you know that the animals have met their end in a kind way with regard to God. Not a small thing. What I like is the variety of Middle Eastern and South Asian foods that are available, from Persian to Lebanese to Pakistani - all over that part of the globe. They have spices in bulk for those of us who use a lot of them, fresh Indian and Middle Eastern breads, and frozen and refrigerated foods as well, such as Bulgarian feta and the bindi/baby okra that is so tasty. Indus is a very popular market, so things aren't left on the shelves very long. That means freshness is not ever a problem. On street parking is easy, even though Indus is very close to the intersection of University and San Pablo in Berkeley. The prices are really great, too.

Unfortunately, they seem like they just don't care!! You may be from another country but that does not mean that you can run your business any way you want to. Your meat is supposed to be allowed and I have a fact that it's not your side step in the rules because you think you can get away with it. You lost a darn good customer.

I requested lamb chops from the butcher and I ended up with bones and fat. The lamb chops had barely any meat.

We discovered this place because it was convenient. We were always able to pick up a few things while we were in the neighborhood. We keep coming here not just because they have what we're looking for at reasonable prices, but because we are always met with a friendly smile and a pleasant, helpful attitude. I love family businesses!
