Truly a hidden gem. We got the bun bo hue, #1 combination, and an avocado smoothie and all were some of the best I've had!Bun Bo hue - had so much flavor and all the goodies to go with it (tendon, pork hock, beef shank, beef patty, and pork blood). You can also ask for their homemade chili sauce and it's a game changer. At least I think their chili sauce was homemade because it was just that good!! Banh mi - the bread was so light and crispy and didn't destroy my mouth lol. Had the right amount of filling. Add some of the chili paste for it to be extra tasty Avocado - nothing spectacular but just a solid smoothie made with real avocados. The ambience is very unassuming so don't expect anything fancy. You order at the register and grab a seat (at least I did). Overall, I think I found one of my go to spots for a no frill, tasty Vietnamese food experience. :)

I HIGHLY recommend getting their avocado smoothie it's my absolute favorite. I get it all the time! The way they make it is so delicious and creamy, the flavor of avocado not overpowering but the perfect sweet blend and texture!Their banh mi and assorted ready-to-eat plates they leave out are cheap, pretty tasty, and very convenient, however I haven't tried their actual dishes. Usually pretty busy during lunch hours and the staff are sweet/hospitable! The interior is spacious and I like how the seats are separated from where people order and get to-go meals. Keeps it really organized and less suffocating during rush hours.Recently got their Banh Mi and I chose Korean Beef as protein but it was very dry and crumbly. It lacked in flavor and wasn't very appetizing. For a restaurant with an emphasis on their sandwiches, this reflects my rating due to my most recent experience.

Bread was so hard that it lacerated the inside of my mouth. It is unfortunate that this occured. I really like their sandwiches at their other locations. This location dont seem authentic.

My son and I came in craving for banh mi and smoothies. When we walked in we were so shocked how spacious it was and luckily for us it wasn't too busy. The employees were nice and helpful. The food was delicious we got a variety of items. There was so many choices, we ended up grabbing a combo pho, spicy Korean chicken sandwich, grill pork sandwich, steam pork sandwich, chicken rice porridge, pork rice rolls, steam pork bun, grill chicken thigh rice plates, mocha shake, mango shake, & of course Vietnamese ice coffee. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations.

A very big and spacious restaurant. They have packaged to go food on the side you can easily grab n go or you can sit down and eat. I was craving a banh mi and this was the closest spot to me at the time. Solid banh mi that satisfied my cravings, but nothing too crazy to rave about. I wish there were just a few more slices (even just one!) of meat as it felt like it was lacking compared to the other places I've tried. It didn't feel as balanced. Also, it's not a big of a deal but the fillings weren't evenly spread out. I forgot mine had any jalapeños until I was half way through, which quickly disappeared and showed up again on my last few bites. Overall, I'd buy a sandwich from here again and I'm also very curious about the rest of their menu!

A big meh.Their seafood soup had no flavor. The shrimp may look nice, and the broth looks red, but honestly no flavor. The thai iced tea tasted strange and I got sick afterwards. Maybe stale milk? The beef pho broth is watery and the meat is very chewy. This is cheap pho and you know it.Drinks have too much ice, and service is slow. The spring roll wasn't fresh....the shrimp was mushy so I removed it.You get what you pay for.

This review is for the sandwiches and my family members happen to go to this location to buy them. They're pretty cheap to buy though. It's most likely because they use less ingredients and that's based off what my friend told me. It's usually everywhere wherever you go to a Vietnamese restaurant to get some of them. I didn't get a chance to go inside but I would imagine that it's typically an ordinary atmosphere and nothing really special. Perhaps they may have serve other items to get rather than the sandwiches themselves

I love the grilled pork banh mi from here, it's one of my favorites. The bread isn't too crunchy where I'm making a mess and it's hard to eat. And it's not too soft where it tastes soggy. It's right in the middle, a slight crunch on the outside and a bit soft in the middle. I also love ordering their rice plates, desserts, and other goodies (sometimes it's discounted on the counter, which is such a steal). I've tried their sticky rice and banh not loc and loved both as well.

Why do I feel like I've given a review of this place before? Well no matter, let's do it now. L O C A T I O NHuong Lan Sandwiches is located in the old Service Merchandise in Newark. Yes, I'm dating myself a lot here. Does anyone remember Service Merchandise? Well it's now a Lion's Supermarket with a few restaurants. Huong Lan is to the right of the market. There's a large shared parking lot. It's not super hard to find parking but it can get tough.I N S I D EThere's a good amount of tables inside if you want to eat in. And it was quite busy during a Friday lunch time.M E N UThere's a lot of different items on their menu. We focused on the sandwiches. They also have some vietnamese to-go prepacked items as well and some grocery items.Of their sandwiches, they're not bad. They're now priced as much as their competitors and not less than $4 but you know what....inflation. It's definitely well stuffed with meats and filling.S E R V I C EIt's fairly timely in terms of ordering especially when they're super busy. They're nice and we were able to pay easily.O V E R A L LNot a bad option for Vietnamese sandwiches. Definitely will need to explore a lot of their menu one day. It's quite popular so make sure to order ahead or go early if you're in a rush.

Came here for lunch a quick lunch during the week. There was barely any line and plenty of seating inside. After we ordered, we received our food pretty quick. I got the 6D, which was the marinated pork banh mi. The sandwich is a little small, but for $7 it's fairly priced. The bread was crunchy and the pickled veggies were tasty. There was a decent amount of meat and the meat had no fat on it. This is a good place to pick up a quick lunch!
