Visiting Heidrun Meadery was an unforgettable experience. Set in a peaceful, scenic spot with rolling hills and flowers, it's the perfect place to relax and sip on something unique. What amazed me most was how the mead's flavor changes with the seasons, depending on the flowers the bees pollinate. Each batch is a reflection of nature--like the California Orange Blossom, which was light and citrusy, or the tropical, smooth Hawaiian Lehua Blossom.I loved that you can bring your own picnic and enjoy it on their beautiful outdoor grounds. Sipping crisp, bubbly mead while surrounded by nature made the experience even more special. Keep in mind you can ship the meed back home if you're traveling ! Whether visiting in summer with everything in bloom or in fall for a different flavor profile, Heidrun Meadery is a must-visit.

Mead & Honey TastingAnother highly recommended spot in Point Reyes! The space is absolutely lovely, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We learned so much about mead during the tasting session!Theirs isn't like ordinary mead, which is typically very sweet and heavy. They are the only place that produces champagne-style mead, which is light, dry, and refreshing, with subtle aromas from the honey. Depending on the type of mead you taste, it can resemble champagne, cider, or even beer--super unique and interesting!Another thing I loved was the artwork on the bottles. Each flower on the label represents the type of honey used, and every single design is beautiful. I'm even repurposing the bottles as flower vases--win-win!They offer a few different tasting options: an essential tasting flight, a mead & Dandelion chocolate pairing, and, for non-alcoholic drinkers, a honey tasting. We fell in love with several honeys from different regions and ended up bringing a couple of jars home.

Beautiful place with interesting products, but shockingly rude and unwelcoming customer service. My friends and I were on a birthday day trip and were excited to visit this place for the mead. The shop itself is charming, and we were all planning to buy something and try the mead tasting. Unfortunately, the visit was ruined by the dismissive and condescending attitude of the older blonde woman at the counter. When checking our IDs - something we fully understand is necessary - she rejected my friend's CA ID because it had a punched hole. Fair enough. My friend then provided a valid CO ID, but instead of simply checking the DOB, the woman began quizzing her on the zip code. My friend (28yo) explained that she's born and raised in California, had only lived in Colorado for 1.5 years, moved frequently while there, and had recently moved back to CA. Despite this reasonable explanation, the woman continued to interrogate her and quiz her on the address, making the interaction unnecessarily uncomfortable.Checking IDs is about verifying legal drinking age, not interrogating customers. The least she could have done was be nice and polite when turning us away, but instead, her demeanor was needlessly rude and dismissive. It's disappointing when an otherwise great place is overshadowed by someone who clearly doesn't value customers. We took our business elsewhere and had a fantastic experience at another establishment that actually appreciated its guests.

Such a cute and fun stop on a road trip through Point Reyes. You can pick from a variety of tasting options that include 5 mead pours. My husband and I did the classic and seasonal tasting and shared. It's such a cute spot to wander around while you enjoy your tasting. I saw that some people brought picnics and even Tomales bay oysters while enjoying their mead. Definitely a spot I would return to with friends. They take reservations, but it wasn't needed. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of space and tables.

What a gem of place to visit in Point Reyes. Upon our impromptu visit to Marin, I knew I wanted to visit a winery. Such a great find, a meadery in the Bay Area. Had a tasting for $25 which is waived when you purchase 3 bottles. The time when we went they had raw oysters for $3 the lowest around the area --- so good. Tasting bar was inviting with knowledgeable staff. As pours come in, I could walk around enjoying the garden or walk around the tasting room with honey selection and cute merch. Yup, got 3 bottles to go and looking forward to enjoying at home. I'll definitely be back.

I absolutely loved the mead here - the mead is not too sweet but has a nice variety of floral, fruity and herbal scents/tastes, and is carbonated, which is amazing. Probably one of the best ones I've had.I honestly really wanted to give 5 stars, but took off one star cause the service was not the best (or what you would expect from a Meadery/winery that offers tastings). Super disappointed leaving the place cause I really wanted to love everything about it given the great mead. Long story short, was trying to buy 3 bottles, and was debating between 2 different options for the last bottle. Asked to try a splash and got a "well at that point it just becomes another tasting" comment and the lady honestly looked pissed off. Was pretty taken at back at that, given most winery's are usually very happy to have guests try different options. TLDR; was considering getting the membership cause of the great mead but decided against it cause of the weird encounter with staff

My friend and I thought we would do a girls afternoon in Marin but everything closed by 4! Heidrun was thankfully open until 5 and was everything we wanted and more. The meads were light and bright. I felt that they were overall very floral on the nose, citrus on the tongue and with varying aftertastes. Sometimes they tasted a little bit like beer! My favorite was the California orange blossom, which happens to be their best seller. I feel that this is a great place to take seasoned wine drinkers as it's so different, but also newbies. Their meads are made with a traditional French method using honey instead of grapes. They cultivate a beautiful wildflower (or maybe just flowers?) garden so their honey bee colonies can thrive. Their honey bees are hard at work making so many varietals for honey and mead!I was blown away by their garden, which was everything. Gorgeous inside and out. Idyllic, picturesque, rustic - such a vibe. Everyone was so nice there and I really enjoyed my time there! I was so thankful about the explanations, kindness and patience given to us. Definitely coming back with more friends to share this amazing spot and to try the honey tasting flight!

I don't think I can do this place justice. First taste was of the seasonal Hawaiian Christmas Berry and I was HOOKED! My thought was, "I don't think I'll ever buy another bottle of champagne again!". This mead has so much more going for it between the beauty of being honey fermented wine, the botanical nature of them from the flowers, and the Champagne style Methode. Of course I then wanted to try all of them which isn't quite possible on one trip so I've come back and will come back again! My faves so far are the above, the Oregon Pumpkin Blossom, California Orange Blossom and the Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Blossom. But hey, buy me any one of the bottles and I'll be happy. I think it was the Dakota Chokecherry that may have had a slight clove taste - whichever it was, that was my least favorite. The "Mead Angels" (my name for them) were wonderful - tip them well. It's a low key, more rustic and relaxed alternative to wine tasting with beautiful grounds. Bring a picnic. They have honey tastings and also some cheese boxes but not always available.
