Fremont is lucky to have such great Ethiopian food. Solomon and Haleluya prepare the food like they're making it for their own family. It's every bit as good as the fine Ethiopian restaurants in Berkeley. If you've never eaten Ethiopian food before, relax and get ready to treat your senses. Wash your hands, and dig in. You won't find better Ethiopian food anywhere.

Haleluya Ethiopian is a hidden gem and a must try!My husband and I are from the DC area and accustomed to authentic Ethiopian food. Since moving to the Bay Area we have been having a hard time finding good Ethiopian food, especially Awaze Tibsi! We stumbled upon Haleluya and couldn't be more pleased! We tried their awaze tibsi and veggie combo for 2! Every thing was delicious and decently priced for the portions. The owners were very helpful and provided fast service! We will definitely come back to try other dishes!

I finally got a chance to try this restaurant the other day and I'm glad that I did!Prior to my visit, I had never tried Ethiopian food. Once my Eritrean friend found that out, he offered to treat me. So we ended up here.Once I entered the restaurant, I explained to the nice lady that was working (I think she's the owner) that Ethiopian food was new to me and that I'm also a Vegetarian. She then explained to me what each item was and made some suggestions...both of which were very helpful. Once I was seated, I was promptly offered a drink, I chose ice water. My friend and I ordered immediately, thankfully, as I hadn't eaten all day; I chose the Vegetarian platter.I'm not sure if the service is always fast, but our food was on the table in 10 minutes or less. The first thing that caught my eye (obviously) was how my platter looked. Everything was so colorful and fresh looking. Being that the restaurant is a small store in a shopping center, I wasn't expecting much in regards to the presentation of the food...I was pleasantly surprised. The food was plated very nicely on a square plate. There were 2 pieces of injera bread rolled up in one corner, a small salad on another corner and down the middle of the plate was another piece of injera bread acting as a "runner" of sorts. On top of that was the 4 items: a red lentil dish, a yellow split-pea dish, collared greens and a potato/carrot/cabbage concoction. Everything was EXTREMELY good. Without getting into every aspect of the food, I can sum it up like this: generous portions, fresh ingredients, cooked just right and nothing was overly-seasoned. I'm glad that I waited all day to eat: I ate everything except for the plate!I'm so glad to have this business in my neighborhood and I will definitely be returning!5 out of 5 stars

Great hole in the wall spot. We came on Christmas Eve and only the owner was working. He was clearly very busy but he was still very attentive with our table. We ordered the meat combo and everything was delicious, generous portions even for two people. Our favorite has to be the chicken and lamb.

This place was really great. It's located in a large strip-mall kind of area across the street from a larger mall area and I'm not sure I would have noticed it driving by if I wasn't looking for it. There was plenty of parking in front. They are definitely set up for take-out orders but they do have tables where you can sit and eat. I thought the service was very good - you can tell this is a family-owned kind of business and everyone was pitching in.I like how they have options for getting a combination plate for one person or for multiple people. I think most places I've gone to, the option for having a combination for one is less prevalent. I think the serving size of the one I got - two veggie and one meat - was a good size for dinner if you are hungry. My friend got the meat combination and ended up taking some home since it was a bit larger. Everything was flavorful and good.

This time I had the 2 veg 1 meat platter. Finger licking food again! I was very tempted by the Ethiopian spiced tea but it was too late in the day for me. I will try next time for sure. I took the red lentil, yellow split and chicken stew. Yummy.

Ambiance seems nicer casual take out atmosphere. There are tables and such inside.Service was friendly and all. Pretty quick as well. My only issue is that I ordered a veggie bowl with rice $11.75 and a kitfo (medium/medium spicy) with injera. I was in a hurry picked it up since I was on a quick break. It didn't dawn on me why my total was $54. I realized they charged me for a veggie platter ($19.99) and kitfo. I called to see if they'd fix it but I was unable to go back as they'd have to cancel and have it charged again. Veggie bowl was 3/5 so it was good. The kitfo was a bit saltier and was well done than I would expected. (May be the steam cooked it more, not sure) 2/5. It came with three rolls of injera. Their injera didn't have as much tang so in case you are expecting that it isn't. The teff may be a bit milder suits more people who aren't used to it. As much as I was excited to see an Ethiopian spot near one of my employers because I LOVE Ethiopian food. I'm a bit on the fence if I'll go back since I was overcharged and food was okay. I don't doubt they'll improve so I'm sure they'll update processes. I guess I'll take the over charge as a loss. The service was nice and the gentleman was chatty. He did mention he was busy. I love hearing small business are busy. This just may be one hiccup.

Good portions and great flavors. Fluffy and tangy injera with good texture to support packing each bite with delicious toppings. We ordered takeout and were satisfied with the amount of food and heat retention. It tasted just as fresh after a 30 minute drive. We ordered the meat combo, veggie combo, and lamb tibs (although they ran out of lamb, they substituted with more beef). The meat pieces were juicy and incorporated well with the sauces and the veggies were abundant in flavor and aroma. Each combo is definitely shareable, maybe 2 or 3 people per dish, which makes their food quite affordable for the quality you get.Given that good Ethiopian food can be difficult to find around this area, I'd highly recommend giving Haleluya a try. If you're new to the cuisine, definitely open your palate and fill yourself up with a variety of dishes and if you're an avid Ethiopian diner, see how it compares with your favorites!

Small mom and pop restaurant serving some solid takes on classic Ethiopian food.Stop by here for dinner earlier this week on Thursday with my girlfriend. We arrived around 7:30 PM and the restaurant was empty. Most people seem to be coming in for takeout restaurant is quaint and has a few tables that seat up to four people in the vibe in general is very cozy. For our meal, we ordered the meat and veggie combo, which came with two meat, entrées and three veggie entrées all served on Injera with extra Injera on the side. The food came out very quickly, and overall was very solid. For our meats we got the chicken and lamb snd as for the veggies we had the potatoes, yellow lentils, and split red lentils (Misir Wot)Both meat dishes were cooked to perfection - the lamb and chicken were both very tender in the gravy with some of the best I've had in a long time. As for the veggies, the misir wot was by far the best. The potatos were solid and the yellow lentils while good felt a little undercooked.Service wise this place was great. Its run by a very small team , but with that said they are very attentive and very niceOverall, Haleluya gave us a very solid meal and I'd definitely Swing by here again when I'm in the mood for some Ethiopian food in FremontFood : 4.5/5Service : 5/5Total score : 4.75/5
