It was hot hot hot this weekend and I really wanted halo halo so we decided to try it out here. It was $7.50 for a cup, filled with all the goodies - ube ice cream, jellies, puffed rice, shaved ice, red bean, flan, etc. I've only had halo halo a few times before this but I thought it hit the spot. Each spoonful had a bit of everything after mixing and did wonders to cool off! There are a lot of different textures from all the ingredients, which I can see being off-putting if you're not used to it, but it's delicious! We actually ended up getting the taho as well, after seeing a sign for it. This was $6.99, $5.99 + an additional dollar for the flan. I was a fan of the halo halo more, though the taho wasn't bad. The tofu just wasn't as silky smooth as expected, maybe not the freshest or a tad overcooked? The brown sugar sauce seemed a bit thinned out a bit as well. I think I'll stick to the halo halo for now. But it was definitely a much needed treat in this heat wave.

My first time here and I have the adobo and laing. The chicken adobo was good. The laing was not. It tasted like soap. I was very disappointed. The service was good though.

Went for LunchFood - 4/5. Pork BBQ had good grill marks and was tender. The sauce was sweet with bits of sourness and the generous amount of glazing made sure that each piece had plenty sauce. Dinuguan was a treasure trove of different parts of the pig and each piece was pretty tender. Sauce was thick as expected but the flavor could've been more sour and spicy. It wasn't bad, but felt a little plain after a few bites. Rice was a little soggy in the center, but not detrimental.Service - 4/5. Line moves quick and the staff is friendly.Value - 5/5. What I like about turo-turo style establishment is that you get to try a variety of dishes without fully committing to a massive entree size. Grill city offers a good variety with individual portion sizes. Our combo came with a grilled meat selection, another entree choice and two scoops of rice for only $11! Excellent budget and stomach space friendly option for Filipino food.Parking - Mall Lot (Free)

After our hike, a member of our group suggested that we have lunch at the Grill City. I didn't know about Filipino stores located on the Hesperian side of Southland Mall. In this building, there's Jollibee and Red Ribbon in front and Seafood City as the main business inside and Grill City is one the restaurants inside.Grill City is famous for its Filipino-style pork and chicken barbecue skewers and other grilled choices such as grilled pork belly, stuffed squid and tilapia, pompano and bangus, adobo, kare-kare, sinigang, nilaga, bopiz, kaldereta and menudo.Grill City is turo-turo or cafeteria style and the line went relatively quick. They were running a 4 for $16 special on the bbq pork and chicken skewers. Since I love the skewers, I decided to get 8 pork ones to eat at the dining area and bring home. The pork was nicely grilled and they were moist and tasty. I will be again for the skewers and try other items they offer. For sure, I want to try to foot long turon.

Grill City is one of the food stalls located inside the Seafood City Supermarket and features a grill for meats and seafood, as well as a huge selection of side dishes and fried items. From the grill menu, I tried the Jumbo Squid and the Stuffed Bangus (Milkfish), both stuffed with chopped tomatoes/onions. For my sides, the Kare Kare was a thick peanut stew made with green beans and chunks of beef; the Laing was a salty mixture of taro leaves cooked in coconut milk; and the Ginisang Ampalaya was a stir-fry of bitter melon with beef and egg. I also got a side of Bihon Pancit, made of vermicelli noodles stir-fried with a variety of ingredients including celery, carrot, egg, shrimp, fish balls, and chunks of meat. They also had a special Banana Langka Tropical Halo Halo for $1, made of bananas in syrup in the bottom of the cup, topped with shaved ice, candied banana, a piece of flan, and a scoop of mango ice cream. Overall, the food here was decent but average in quality and freshness. The grilled seafood was a bit burned on the outside, the beef in the Kare Kare was tough, and the Laing was very salty. Nevertheless, everything came at a good value and with quick service!

Grill City: A Hidden Gem Near ChabotBeen coming to Grill City for the past couple of years while completing my education at Cal State East Bay, and it has become one of my favorite local spots. This place offers incredible value for the quality and quantity of food you get. I usually go for the pork skewer meal, which is absolutely delicious. The skewers are perfectly grilled, tender, and packed with flavor. The meal comes with a generous serving of rice and an additional side choice. My personal favorite side is the chicken adobo - it's rich, savory, and just melts in your mouth. To complete the meal, I always get the cantaloupe drink. It's refreshing and the perfect complement to the savory dishes. The combination of great food, friendly service, and affordable prices makes Grill City a standout spot.Whether you're a student like me or just in the area, I highly recommend giving Grill City a try. You won't be disappointed!

This place has gotten worse over the years. all the grilled foods are either cold or too hard to chew. all other dishes don't really look like appetizing anymore. or is it just this location? The grilled fish here is the worst grilled tilapia i ever tasted. Where is the magic that once made them known?

Terrible fish that stinks! bought this fresh gaspergoo and had them cleaned. Scales still in the fish and even waited for 40 minutes just to clean them! While frying, the smell is sooo bad that I had to stop frying them! Seafood city, your fish sucks!!!

I was in the area and saw there was a nice looking Filipino supermarket, so I decided to give it a look. I was kinda in the mood for some pork/chicken bbq skewers, which typically is relatively easy to do right, but I feel like grill city routinely buys the near expired meat scraps and fatty bits left over from another vendor and marinates and cooks it just to avoid spoilage. Every time I get skewers from them they're either too cold, hard as a rock, or chewy as a boot. It's really sad to see a brand like this do so badly and continue to hinder the reputation of Filipino bbq. This is a terrible representation of what could've been so good, but the way things are managed and cooked in huge batches and then left to cool for hours makes for a really disappointing experience. Unfortunately the service also felt just as cold as the food was as well, it's clear they operate with the sentiment of "minimum wage, minimum service". I'll definitely be patronizing businesses that are proud of their food and actually like what they do.
