Grand Express

Picture this: I roll up to Grand Express, and the first thing I notice is a guy in the parking lot, set up with a folding table, casually selling marijuana and liquor. As if that wasn't enough, there's a fight breaking out just a few feet away. Quite the welcoming committee, right?Despite the chaos outside, I decided to brave it and step inside. The Nipsey Hussle mural on the wall was actually pretty cool and added a bit of local flavor. But it did make me wonder if it attracts a certain type of crowd, considering the commotion outside.Once inside, my hopes of grabbing some fresh fruits or sugar-free drinks were quickly dashed. The selection was pretty limited, which was a bummer since I was hoping for more variety.One thing Grand Express does have going for it is the late hours - they're open until 2 AM. Handy if you're in desperate need of something late at night. However, the crowd it attracts during those hours might make you rethink whether you really need that midnight snack.In conclusion, while Grand Express might serve a purpose for late-night needs, the overall experience left much to be desired. Between the chaotic scene outside and the limited selection inside, it's not a place I'd rush back to. Stay safe out there, folks!

I came by to trade in my winning Lotto Scratcher ticket for more tickets. There was a constant flow of customers coming and going at this popular store. The cashier was quiet but efficient in taking care of my transaction.

The only liquor in downtown Oakland which is stillopen after midnight . Staff is friendly and price is reasonable .

This is my preferred conveinience store to go to for the area. They're more than likely going to have what you need being that it is a convenience store. They don't have hot foods ready like 7/11 but that's not why I'm rating them a 4-star.Parking can be tough and there could be folks kicking it outside and in the parking lot which can make manuvering through the lot tougher. But the employees are cool and I've never had an issue whenever I visit so id recommend em over the corner store across the way because their prices are more fair.

Decent place, not exactly a 'market', but a good place to grab some snacks and drinks while you're in the Lake Merritt area.The parking lot is small, but that Nipsey Hussle Mural is an all-timer!!!

This is our favorite family owned and operated store! They have theNEST prices, wont gouge you on prices, honest place! Our family will be going here for years! Way more honest and warmer than than others in the area.

Oh yeah.Great place for all your late-night needs in the Adam's Point 'hood. Sure, it ain't no 7-11, but hell....it's 1:00 am and you're drunk and hungry. Does it really matter anyway?

Friendly Staff! I have to say it is places like this that make me believe that Oakland has a chance in rebounding, keep up the outstanding work. We have to help out our local businesses if our community is to survive.

pros: family owned, not 7-11, open late, wide selection cons: employees often don't wear masks, mask usage by customers is not enforced, there always seems to be something wild going down in the parking lot or in the storewhile i'm glad we have a late night option in case of emergency, this isn't somewhere i enjoy going nor do i feel totally safe shopping there. just get your stuff and get out, i guess?
