Decent Cantonese style cuisine. They offer dim sum during lunch. It can get packed on weekends. Service is friendly but hard for the wait staff to come around and check on tables, so ask for everything at the beginning - whether you want utensils other than chopsticks or a glass of water. This restaurant is located in an Asian shopping plaza near Lion Supermarket.

If you're not looking for anything super fancy, this place is okay to eat at. We were craving siu mai, tofu skin and shrimp dumplings. We ordered the roasted pork.. eh I wouldn't recommend. The fookin fried rice is good though.

My family had been craving Peking duck for a while so we decided to check out Golden Sun Palace in Milpitas for an early dinner. The 7 of us got to the restaurant at opening (5:30) on a Sunday and were one of the first parties there. It's a standard family-style Chinese restaurant in terms of decor and ambience - you're there for the food, the family, and not much else. We ordered the A combo and added their lobster noodle on the side. They use the duck bones left over from the crispy Peking duck to make into a thin but richly flavored broth that acts as the appetizer. Then came the Hainanese chicken, boiled and served with a garlic-ginger sauce, the rich and oily lobster noodles, the fried salt and pepper fish filet, the bok choy, and finally the star of the night: the Peking duck. After smearing oyster sauce on the provided steamed buns, sandwich a piece of duck skin and a few green onion slivers between the sides and dig in. It's so oily I usually give in after 2 or 3, but it's more than worth it. At the end of the meal they provide a plate of house baked butter cookies in place of fortune cookies (as if the meal couldn't get any heavier). Grab a takeout box for leftovers and you're set. Parent approved!

The last time my family and I came to Golden Sun Palace was on 12/16/2019, right before the beginning of the pandemic. That was a good day because we got to hang out with some close family friends and relatives over dim sum. Exactly five years later to the date, my family and I made our return here for a dim sum outing. The place was pretty quiet when we walked in at noon. One of the staff greeted us and she led us to a table by the windows. The interior was clean, and did not appear to have gone through any renovations since the last time we were here. Our server got us tea while we perused the vast dim sum menu. As soon as she returned, we placed our order. We ended up getting eight items plus beef chow fun. Our food started to arrive in 15 minutes, in stages. The first thing we noticed was that the dim sum items were made in-house instead of premade. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality. Everything was on point for the most part, and they did not skimp on anything. If I had to nitpick, I would say the beef chow fun was a bit greasy and the har gow skin was somewhat mushy. Service we received was very good. Our server was friendly, polite, and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. Dim sum items ranged from $4.95 to $9.95, and the beef chow fun was one of their daily specials at $11.95. Tea charge was waived. The total, with T/T, was about $77. Based on this experience, we will definitely return! BONUS MATERIAL:- Ample parking on site.- Major credit cards accepted.- Their tip suggestions are based on post-tax amount.- Check out their weekday daily specials, which include noodle/rice dishes, entrée items, and dim sum combos.- No tea charge.

New favorite spot for dim sum! The service is great, the food comes out hot, fast and authentic Cantonese flavor! I've been here 3 times in the last month for dim sum! Pro tip: Some of the favorite items that have pastry in them are only available on the weekend. Weekends get busy, come before 12pm or call ahead.

It's been 9 years since my last review so I thought I'd post an update. I dined here recently and was able to try a few new items I didn't order last time. We got here around 1:30PM, near the tail end of lunch and the restaurant was still about 1/3 full. Although the restaurant did age the last decade, I feel like the the food quality actually increased! We ordered the staple dim sum items: pork sui mai, shrimp har gow, beef rice roll, egg tarts, chicken feet, steamed bean curd skin with pork and shrimp. The dim sum items were pretty good with the steamed items coming out fresh and hot. In addition to these items we also ordered two dishes - chicken chow fun with gravy and dried scallops fried rice. Both were great and were of a generous portion. The only letdown was the plate of roast pork - the skin was a bit stale and chewy, not crunch and crisp as you'd expect. The dim sum is ordered via the waiter/waitress whereas the baked items are on a cart that is wheeled around the restaurant. Those items can be picked ad-hoc. The sticky rice on that cart can be heated up, just ask them to warm if up for you.Looking for a dim sum deal? After 2:30 PM, you can score a buy-one-get-one-free deal on baked goods like bbq pork buns and egg tarts. Just be quick, as these goodies tend to fly off the cart and others may be waiting for 2:30 PM to strike too.Golden Sun Palace was cleaner than I expected for an older Chinese restaurant. The bathrooms were surprisingly nice, and they even cleaned the dim sum carts before closing. The service was great! They refilled our tea, cleared our table of dirty dishes, and helped us cut a birthday cake. For all these reasons, I'm upgrading my review to 4 solid stars.

Came in little before noon on Sat.. not too busy yet. Seated right away.Waitstaff was friendly.Interior is pleasant. Bright enough and chairs-tables looked nice. Note that some items not on menu, served as general dim sum items from carts rolled around.Chinese broccoli veggy- nicely done, stems a little crunchy, but to me seems maybe a little chemical flavor? Maybe what they washed the veggies in? Didn't deter me much. Kept eating.Chive dumpling- different textures and flavors. I'm not a chive fan, but liked it. Chive flavor not over powering.Crispy shrimp balls- lots of shrimp with very light crunchy fried coverFried fish- little fishy tasting but nice quality, well done and no bone Chickens feet- perfect example! Almost fall apart and mild but definite flavors.Porridge- again perfect example. Nicely cooked with decent amount of materials inside Sui Mai- pretty good, but had too many gristle (tough) spots inside. Maybe we got a bad batch? Flavor and other textures were great.Lastly was tung yen. Rice ball with sesame paste inside, lightly fried and with peanut crumb topping- oh dang! If you have a sweet tooth, this will fit the bill! Definitely more sweet than most restaurants would make but a nice end of the meal! Overall a great experience and would come back.

You know... the more and more I come here I find myself simply leaving unhappy. Business never really seems that busy and for staff to be unfriendly and even attitude-y @ times... really leaves me flabbergasted. With my most recent visit for dinner our family of three placed orders for:*BEEF CHOW FUN*SEASONAL VEGETABLES w/ BAMBOO PITH & MUSHROOM*SHRIMP DUMPLINGS*PORK & SHRIMP DUMPLINGS*ICE TEA x3First and foremost, the initial iced tea I received legit tasted like the staff member popped open a can of Brisk and poured it over ice. I flagged down one of the ladies and asked for a plain, unsweetened version. A different cup is provided and everything is good- tea was clearly the typical hot tea you normally receive but the cup was topped off with ice. The staff jazzed it up with slices of lemon which is great but my issue is being charged $4+ for each cup I received!! That's uncalled for IMO.Secondly, I placed an order for seasonal veggies with bamboo pith & mushrooms. My fault for not seeing the word "pith" so when I received the dish, I flagged the staff down asking where the bamboo was. She immediately went into defense attitude mode and kept pointing at the brown spongey like pieces. Thirdly, the white doughy layer on the shrimp dumplings were overly thick AF.2 stars. The food here isn't good enough to be dealing with so much of this bipolar-ness. I'm gonna have to second guess whether or not I come back.

This is a small dim sum restaurant. The plaza is easy to find parking space. We arrived at 11:30 so have a table immediately. The dim sum items are okay, not fancy. But the Poached Clams with Vermicell is tasty. They don't charge for tea which is nice. Overall, here is a good place for your weekend brunch.

Golden Sun Palace is one of my parents' favorite dim sum/Chinese family-style meal spots, but personally, it wouldn't be my first choice to stop by if you're looking for quality authentic Chinese food in the Bay. There are always plenty of tables available without reservation when we stop by, but this restaurant definitely feels a bit old and dirty, with lots of flies, and live seafood tanks with dead fish that need some love and cleaning. The price point at this restaurant is very fair, considering how expensive the Bay Area has become these last few years. A serving of dim sum runs you up to less than $5, although New Hwong Kwok across the street has better dim sum in my opinion. They also offer an extensive menu of traditional Chinese dishes such as walnut shrimp, lobster noodles (although these weren't made that well), sweet and sour soup and more. Service was on the nicer end for an authentic Chinese spot, but if you're not a native Chinese speaker, ordering and communicating with your server might prove to be a challenge.
