Nice campground with restrooms and showers. Alot of scenic ocean views. You can take a walk along the beach and enjoy the view of plants, sunset, sunrise, waves etc.

What a beautiful place! Plenty of parking and areas to have a picnic. Wonderful trails for walking/running. You can explore around and walk all the way to the local restaurants /coffee shops. Pretty close to Ritz hotel. A lot of people close to the parking lot but if you walk a bit further, more likely you will be on your own. So peaceful and recharging. Overall, it's one of my favorite places!

Awesome place to camp if you can find a spot. Most sites have electric hookup. Except the best sites (tent only) 36 & 38. 37 is a bit back Hot showers (quarters) nice beach. Can get really windy during the day.

Weekend getawayWe are from Sonoma county and thought we would venture camping at this location. We loved the Panoramic ocean views and lovely sunsets. Also enjoyed the Coastal Trails that pass through the park. Several walking and biking opportunities in either direction (with many inviting spots) to take in the views. Only negative not used to the crowds and everything it brings! Note: Dogs are not allowed on the this particular beach and never have been. However, just down a mile south -you will find --Poplar Beach, which is dog-friendly! Use this link to view other local dog friendly beaches we found. https://www.bringfido.com/attraction/beaches/city/half_moon_bay_ca_us/We worked around the dog beach limitations at camp: walks and biking. We rode our bikes down the beautiful extensive stretch of bike trail along the coast. Luckily we brought our dog caddy -for when our pup got tired running along side of the bikes. We intended to visit the beach by our camp but ended up biking (on a daily basis) to get to the dog friendly beach. Our daily outing ended up a (perk) because we rode away from busy and loud day use section located next to the camp location. Perk: The campground offers electric hookups to 40 of its 52 sites. Note: book early and camp away from the day use section! It is crowded and you do get day use people walking through the camp sections and at times --your camp!

Francis Beach Campground in Half Moon Bay is a lovely campground and the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The Francis Beach Campground is very close to the downtown of Half Moon Bay. It is less than 5 minutes away from driving. You can find many restaurants and stores selling some featured items you can only find in the area. The campground itself is immaculate and well maintained. The campsites have a lot of space between RVs. The campground is not very big, but right next to the ocean. You can bring a chair set in front of the Pacific Ocean and watch a gorgeous sunset with your significant other or your friends and family! The only thing I have to say is this campground is very windy most of the time. Make sure you bring enough clothing, or you will have a Half Moon Bay jacket when you're going home! Lol!

Francis Beach Campground is part of Half Moon Bay State Beach, so one can reserve a spot by going to the State Park website. Reservation fee is $7.99 and the weekend rate is $35.00 per night. The showers are pretty clean , there are four shower rooms in each building ( there are two separate buildings). Restrooms are pretty clean also. Campsites 36, 37 and 38 are right on the beach front which means the views are spectacular but it can get pretty windy and cold especially at night. I personally prefer sites that are not right on the beach front at this particular campground because of the chilly nights. Camp host lady is friendly and helpful, she had no problem giving us changes (quarters for the shower) for $5 bills. You can purchase firewood from her as well. This is a very well maintained campground in my opinion, the ground is well kept , fire ring is a good size and facilities are clean. I also absolutely love the Tuolomne Campground in Yosemite but there's no shower there. (But the views are spectacular)Just like at the San Simeon Campground, you can hear the sound of the waves inside your tent here as well. So far this place is one of my favorite campground. My other favorite campgrounds - Tuolomne at Yosemite San Simeon State Beach New Brighton Beach Big Basin Redwood Costanoa at Pescadero Mammoth Lake

We made reservations on Reserve California to stay here either in August or September 2023 with the anticipation of a 2 night stay close to the ocean. We did arrive later than we thought we would it was 9:30 on a Friday night after driving 2-1/2 hours we pulled up to the entrance to find a gate across the entrance and an sign stating campgrounds full no sign a phone number to call for assistance. We drove down a dirt road directly across from the Guard Shack and did not see anyone in the building. Their was another vehicle that did the same thing as us as they went to the gate to see the campground was full and the gate shut . Upon turning around to much disappointment we decided nothing else to do but drive 2-1/2 hours back home.Saturday morning we did receive a call from a lady named Bessie asking if we were alright as they noticed our spot was empty. This was nice that she did that and she asked if we were still planning on coming today. I was not very friendly I am sorry to say and informed her that we got there to find the gate closed and the sign stating campground full. She informed me that the gate was not locked and that we should have opened it and drove on through. We didn't know it was not locked nor did we have any idea if they had already given our sight to someone else as again it was 9:30 at night.Bessie did apologize for the inconvenience and would refund our money. So our guidance is that they notify the people prior to their arrival informing them of the gate situation or a phone number of someone to call.
