Went here because I read such stellar review about things to experience in SF. However, just like some other things in SF, it is sadly overrated. Went here for the Tipper, Dance; it was indeed a new experience. You're basically put in a room without any seats or instructions. Nobody told you whether you can sit or stay standing up. The music is hella weird, that is if you can call whatever's playing as music. Great audio, but sometimes too high of treble it hurts my ears. Apparently in dance session, you're supposed to dance your soul away, but with the awkward music that was presented, how can I dance. I guess I am just not a good dancer... all in all, very awkward experience, nothing impressive about it. Oh, and I forgot to mention: we went in the middle of summer, and oh. My. God. They smoke the living heck out of that room (it's so foggy and you can barely breathe properly), and seems like they forgot to turn on the A/C or something. It was steaming hot, especially as people dancing. At the end after we stepped out of the room, I felt like I just came out of sauna. Would not recommend.

Very interesting concept. Cool place and an okay experience. If you plan to go here make sure that the music is made for this format and not just any music played on 32 speakers. We went here for Pt. Ravi Shankar's Chants of India and it was pretty underwhelming. I personally didn't feel enveloped in the music. At one point during the experience I started doubting my hearing capacity and it was really disturbing. Also it was just track after track with no connection. It could be much better.

Incredible experience and an absolute must if they are playing an album you enjoy. Listen to music like you've never heard it before. I also loved how it wasn't too loud. You can really hear all the layers of production and vocal tracks. Casual shoes off atmosphere with an honor system bar so bring some cash! Would be great if they had a venmo or digital payment option. Maybe sometime soon! Highly recommend Envelop if you're considering it!

2 requests.1. Somebody should introduce the album and explain about the sound system and then we get to the music. Like they do at some movie theaters and playhouses.2. More importantly, ya'll need to CRANK the volume. If you want to truly "envelop" but that sheet up! Much too quiet. I listen louder at home and I have neighbors.

Its definitely a nice experience. The shoeless thing is pretty cool. But it is definitely just a room with speakers, the sound experience did not feel any different. Could have missed this for the price.

A little expensive but what do you expect with San Francisco. Not too sure if I will be back . It's basically speakers in a room with lights that are dim. We went to listen to the Pink Floyd "wish you were here". Overall, the audio is wonderful just expensive

Envelop SF is a hidden gem of a venue located within the Midway. The 32 speakers literally envelop you in the most incredible and high-fidelity sound you've ever experienced. As soon as you step into the room, you are seemingly transported into another dimension. You take your shoes off, fill a cup of hot herbal tea, and sit on a cushion in the room. Once the album or sound bath starts, you relax and just deeply listen. No one is on their phones...everyone is participating and paying attention together. It's a true community experience.Come for the Listen or Dance events, a live performance, yoga, or a sound bath. One of San Francisco's most unique experiences!

Drove over in the rain waiting outside for 15 minutes, the venue was closed down, had purchased 4 tickets and drove 3 friends there. No email, txt from the organizer. Had tickets to the Nina Simone "experience" Is the company still in business ?UPDATE... the entrance is on Michigan St not Marin or Illinois St, tricky in the dark and rain, vendor offered me voucher to come back which I appreciate. I'll post more after I make it inside for a show :)

First off, they make you sit on the floor! Not everyone is able to sit on a floor. The Disabled. The Arthritic. The Obese. It's flat out discriminatory whether they realize it or not. Second, they sell overpriced tickets for their events Third, they don't allow refunds or changes Fourth, it's silly...
