Ed's Liquor is an anomaly in the inner city of Oakland. the store is clean with a large selection of groceries, snacks, beverage, craft beers, other alkie drinks. there's a clean parking lot with many parking spaces.for the young at heart, there's ice cream by the scoop. there's also ready to eat tamales, chicken or pork, with jalepeno slices for added spicing. eats: chicken tamale (2) stiil warm 1/2 to hour later.-had a firm texture indicating it's mexican origins,-filling was chicken schreds that had a tasty marinade to it.not having salsa wasn't a problem at all. *really unique, premade offsite. definitely worthy of a repeat.takeouts:-finger got over the lens as i was trying to frame iphone away from sun's glare. maybe my fingers partially blocked some glare. *"garbage can" shows up in pics when glare is omnipresent.

Local liquor store that has nachos and tamales available. I really just go for their nachos if I'm craving them. Reasonable price and they are very nice! So convenient and it also has a small parking lot. Of course, if you're looking for liquor they have a sizable section.

My husband and I have been going to this store for 14 years. I check expiration dates on everything I buy and his food is always fresh. It's surprising to me that the ice cream here taste as good, if not better, than ice cream shops. He also has the type of Del Monte pickles that I love. I can't find those kind of pickles anywhere no grocery stores that I know of carry them. The owner is so friendly and professional. He doesn't allow people to stand around outside of his store. Which makes it a welcoming and safe place to buy what you need.

I love Ed's liquor store. I've been coming here since I was a kid, 14 years ago when we first moved into this neighborhood. The owners are super nice & I always find what I'm looking for. It's only a walk at round the neighborhood if we stop by the liquor store!

I love Pedro, and I love Ed's Liquor. For the past 11 years, my whole family, and any friend that wanders by for a visit, has been to Eds. It's about a 3 minute walk from my house and its a well worn path. We walk there for junk food, beer and brandy, for butter when I forget it at the store, milk, toilet paper, an onion, butane lighter fluid, delicious ice cream and now, Coffee!! We know the people who work here very well, and dare I say we go here enough that they're considered friends now. You wouldn't want to buy all your groceries here because the convenience of the store comes at a price, but for forgotten items or late night cravings, it's perfect. Since I've been coming here the stock has become more abundant and less about junk food. The products don't have a layer of dust on them either. Pedro takes pride in his store and it shows. The store is always clean, as is the parking lot. The local flavor is harmless and more than that, the older flavor are funny and awesome. As long as you're friendly, there's never a problem.

This is our local convenience store, walkable from our house, so it gets a lot of business from us. We have other choices, but we have always had good experiences here, so we keep coming back. The owners and clerks know us, and are welcoming and friendly when we show up to get our sugar fix. The selection is what you'd expect from a convenience store - sodas, snack food, household essentials, booze, condoms, batteries, etc. Ice cream, too, which is a nice touch for the kiddos. My weird complaint is that they don't get the "mainstream" flavors of Gatorade (fruit punch, grape, lemon lime) in stock very frequently - you'd think they'd order extra stock of those. It's made me try some of the others, but then they run out of those...The only real negative has to do with where the place is located, there's often some sketchy looking people buying booze too early in the morning, and occasionally there's someone in the store or parking lot (or across the street selling drugs) that gives me a bad vibe and makes me want to get out of there. But mostly it's fine, and the store owners make me feel safer about going there.

Ed's Liquor Store is a classic and classy neighborhood fixture, complete with questionable clientle, inflated prices and bold florescent lighting. They have every libation one could imagine and a decent selection of chips. I was however disappointed my last two trips that they had run out of the ever popular Cool Ranch Doritos. The service is always with a smile and half time with a creepy pick up line, I'm giving them four stars for not having quite as much sketchy flirtation as I normally am used to. However all this aside, the shining star of Ed's is not the average liquors, it's the addition of nacho cheese and jalapeños to any bag of chip you desire. Wow. So authentic, so fresh, and for the the low price of $1.36. Just a short walk away, I recommend this fancy dish to foodies, old and young alike.

This has to be one of the better liquor stores in this neighborhood, not only does it appeal to the over 21 crowd with its wide selection of beer, wine, and hard alcohol, but non drinkers of all ages also enjoy stopping by for hard packed ice cream and other junk food treats. I never buy alcohol here because I usually find better deals elsewhere, but almost everyday my kids beg me to bring them here for nachos and juice boxes, and since they endorse this spot and love it so much; I guess I'm a fan too :)

Very clean, safe store, and parking lot. I feel comfortable walking to this store with my baby. Great staff. Little bit high priced for a convince store but understandable considering the economy.
