The bacon broccolini cheddar quiche goes very well at home with a nice, actually spicy/not too salty chili crisp (not LGM). But the highlight for us was the passionfruit lime icebox pie. Some whipped creams linger in your mouth, and not in a good way; here, the whipped cream on top is light and pleasant. It pairs very well with the rich curd, which isn't overboard with passionfruit and has lime zest. I'd love more zest on top for cosmetics, as it's already in the filling. What I don't get much of is acidity from the limes; perhaps more zest than juice, proportionally, was used. I loved the no-nonsense salty crust. It was more than half a centimeter thick, so didn't shatter at the first (or fourth) cut. Would get again. The prices are reasonable. Also, Edith's bundles the full cost of labor into the price, so no tipping is needed.

Short wait when we arrived, ordered and quickly received our generous slice. Cute little place with limited seating in Uptown. We grabbed a slice of sour cherry pie and dug in. Though the crust was overcooked and a little bitter, it was well seasoned and the filling was delicious.

From sweet to savory, they've got their pies down pat at Edith's Pie! Located in a building that houses a number of other small fast-casual restaurants where 22nd and Franklin Streets converge. Edith's Pie is an all-day cafe that comes from owners Mike Raskin and Jeffrey Wright, who began their journey as a mobile pop-up for years evening running things out of Raskin's Oakland apartment before finally opening their own brick-and-mortar storefront in the spring of 2023 in which was previously Taiwan Bento. Now with two levels to play with and a sizable place to actually bake their signature pies, Edith's Pie is ready to become a local stalwart for both the holiday season and anyone craving a slice at any given time. I have wanted to visit Edith's Pie ever since the buzz started happening from their opening, as who doesn't love a good rich slice of pie and a cup of coffee. But what makes Edith's Pie stand out is that they serve their pies with a variety of options from coffee and tea to more unique options such as cocktails, beer and sparkling wine.On a warm weekday afternoon, I managed to make my way down to downtown Oakland and Edith's Pie's location. They weren't too busy when I arrived post-lunch hour, but thankfully their pie case, which stands firmly as their ordering counter, was filled with plenty of savory hand pies to choose from and multiple slices of sweet pies to order. There were some savory pies that really caught my attention including their Japanese Curry Chicken and their Spiced Lamb and Date pies. There was something about their Sausage, Egg, and Cheese, which was their traditional hand pie made with eggs and pork that caught my eye. And their sweet pie slices like Caramel Apple Oat and Chai Custard sounded intriguing to me, it was their traditional Caramel Banana Cream that sounded perfect for me. For their savory pies, you have the option of getting it heated even if you are ordering it to go, or unheated, which is what I ended up ordering. Both pies are placed in compostable boxes for takeout ordering, and my total bill would be $19.02, which could be considered on the higher side, even in these times, as gratuity not accepted here at Edith's Pie, as they have signage that says they have raised the wages of their staff in order to remove tipping as an option.Upon returning home, my unheated savory pie made it home in one piece, but that could not be said for my sweet pie slice, as it turned into an ooey broken mess upon transport home, of which there wasn't too much mobility so this tells me that everything is pretty delicate when it comes to their pie slices. This helped me to make the call to enjoy my Caramel Banana Cream and it was a lushly made delight. You could tell that after tasting just a few bites that the crew at Edith's Pie really puts a lot of foresight into how they craft their pies. And my savory hand pie was a real delight as my Sausage, Egg, and Cheese was two meals in one, as after reheating it on my own it had a nice balance of savoriness and greasiness that is good for the taste buds. Would I return to Edith's Pie in the future, yes to at the very least sample their cocktails, which looks like that things have been suspended on that front as their menus say Sold Out with everything is crossed out at this time. With a menu that even takes Pi Day into consideration, Edith's Pie knows where their audience is at, and I for one am so glad that they seem here to stay and succeed in downtown Oakland.

A friend brought few of Edith's pies over for dinner during the summer time. Pies were delicious. I mean, we were full from dinner but overate because they were so delicious. Absolutely loved the buttermilk and lemon pies, so good, so rich!Would love to visit the store myself although the pies may be out of my reach since they are quite expensive for my budget. But the taste was so good!

These pies were delicious!! Unfortunately there isn't much street parking. I had to double park. Both of the pies I bought were amazing. I think the price of the pie is expensive though. However, you won't be disappointed once you bite into the delectable dessert.

Good pie! We swung by for dessert after eating in the area. We had a slice of keylime, it was limey and not too sweet. Crust was a bit thick for my liking but I still really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to coming back for pumpkin pie!!!!

It's only been one year since my first review, and I'm sorry to say I'll be removing two stars. It's sad that EP only took a year to degrade what has become your typical Oakland establishment, meaning overpriced food and a void of genuine gratitude for the customer. We arrived here after having a mediocre dinner, only to pay over 16 bucks for cold pie. It was 40 minutes before closing time, and the lady at the counter who took my 16 bucks told me sorry, I had already turned off the warmer thingy. If you have to turn off the small oven an hour before closing, I suggest purchasing a microwave. I get you believe it damages the integrity of your product, but so does cold fruit piesP.S. No Mike, you won't be missed, and it's only a matter of time. BB

I enjoyed a delicious Salted Caramel Cream Pie. My friend said her Cranberry, Pear, Ginger pie was excellent. We both are bakers. The service was friendly. When in Oakland I will return to try other items in the menu.

I love pies, and I love Edith's Pies.I had my first Edith's Pie, the strawberry cobbler, at the downtown Berkeley Farmers Market (Saturdays), and it was delicious! Not too sweet, well-balanced flavor, and flaky crust. I look forward to having more and trying their other flavors.

Possible hot take - pies are better than cake. Perhaps not in every instance, but generally speaking, the thought of a crumbly, buttery crust and a delicious filling is just so much more appealing than layers of a moist cake with whatever cream inside of it. That being said, it's not like I would hate the idea of eating the latter either...Given my clear affinity for pies, a hard sell wasn't exactly required when my friend suggested checking out Edith's Pie for dessert one night. it certainly didn't hurt that my friend has pretty good taste, but after scrolling through the photos of their different offerings, how could I say no to desserts that looked so good? Not only that, they looked just as tasty in the glass display case. The only unfortunate thing is that most of the more interesting flavors I saw weren't included in the half dozen or so offerings they rotate through each day. Booo...-- WORLD FAMOUS SCRIBBLE with a Walnut, Caramel, and Dark Chocolate Filling...$8I'd never tried a scribble before, so I was pretty curious about this, but I didn't care much for it. The caramel and chocolate complemented each other well, but it felt so thick, especially with the walnuts. What's more, the bottom crust was oddly firm/tough.-- RASPBERRY LEMONADE ICEBOX...$8All in all, this was pretty solid. The raspberry lemonade flavor was front and center, but not overpowering or overly acidic. I also liked how it felt slightly creamy and had a sort of refreshing element to it, especially in contrast to how heavy the scribble felt. Even though I can't say my experience left me as impressed as others have been with theirs, I actually think a lot of it simply came down to the type of pie we had, rather than Edith's Pie as a whole. Between the scribble and a couple of other recent experiences I've had, I'm starting to think I'm just not a fan of nut-centric pies in general (e.g. pecan pies). For that reason, I actually wouldn't oppose coming back to see if I have better luck the second time around. What's more, the vibe and ambiance here feels perfect for date night desserts and I still want to try their Key Lime Pie, as well as their streusels and savory pies.THREE AND A HALF STARS if I could, but rounded down for now.
