Eden Plaza Cafe

When I do come by Edens, its when I need a quick bite or I don't feel like walking too far from work. Its a decent cafe that serves various kinds of bites:Bagels, sandwiches, burritos, tacos, pastas, salads, and im sure im missing a few other things but hopefully you get the gist. Oh, and how can I forget they also serve coffee and espresso drinks. For the amount of times Ive gone to Edens, Ive gotten mixed experiences; some days are better than others but overall pretty consistent. For example: Some days my bagel is more burnt than usual or theres barely any cream cheese or the meat in my sandwich is less than usualBut im not going to let those occasional days bring down the star rating. Its a decent cafe and itll get you what you need for food.

This review comes a few months late, but I had bought a Too Good to Go surprise bag for Eden Plaza Cafe. It came with a pastry (a Danish), soup (I believe it was minestrone or something similar, it tasted vegetarian) and a sandwich. All of the food was decent quality, though not mindblowing, and tasted fresh. I felt it was a good value for the price. (I haven't seen them on Too Good to Go lately, so they might've discontinued particpating in the app, but the cafe is definitely still open.) I appreciate that they offer a variety of foods including baked goods, sandwiches, burritos, and drinks at reasonable prices. The cafe is pretty small but they have a little bit of outdoor seating right outside.

I have only tried the parfaits & tuna sandwiches. I read the reviews but I'm a stickler that watches how ppl make my food lol. If I see there's not an enough tuna on my sandwich while she's making it I simply ask for more. They're nice about it & I tip. Don't wait until the last minute to say what you need. It can get busy in the mornings & with all the orders she moves quick as to not keep anyone waiting for too long. The area seats about 8 ppl at time and isnt that big but also have outside seating for . I love being able to get in/out. It takes about 5-15min depending on how busy it is but I highly recommend if you love tuna melts as much as I do.

I came here for two surprise bag pick up orders a couple of days ago. It was a fast pick up and the food was nearby to the cashier. In my orders came two ham sandwiches, two tuna sandwiches, a slice of marble cake and a slice of coconut cake. Am I the biggest fan of coconut? Not at all, but it was actually tolerable. The marble cake was alright as well. Want some honesty? Neither of these types of cake are my fave, nor do I particularly like cake. I don't hate cake, but if I could only have it once a year for whatever absurd reason, I'd be quite alright. That said, these baked goods would probably be delightful to someone who likes cake. Also, this place is like a small coffee shop setting that serves light breakfast items (you're not getting pancakes here) and lunch, closing at 2 PM daily. The tuna sandwich was good. Fair. I think it must be quite hard to mess up a tuna sandwich considering the easily ingredients, so it's what you'd expect. I especially liked that they served it on a brioche roll, my favorite. Now let's talk about location. I imagine people that live and work around here are the average customers. If you're interested in trying it out, it's about two blocks down from Lake Merritt Bart and across the street from OMCA. Parking is a hit or miss.

This place has pretty decent food but I will never go back there again because of poor customer service. I went there today just to grab one of their pre-made salads because I was in a hurry. The older male cashier saw me standing behind the previous customer waiting to pay for my food. He continued chit chatting with the man for 5 minutes despite me standing there. It wasn't until the customer chose to leave that he finally served me. I don't know if he just doesn't like black women or what, but I'd rather starve than deal with such rudeness again. Plus, the salad wasn't that great.

Food not good, pricey and skimpy on the cream cheese. Bagel not really toasted. Check out the pic! Owner rude threw my items in the bag and didn't even say hello. I can imagine how he treat his staff.

The lady who made my salad was super sweet. The man who runged me up didn't even say hello, repeated my order or voiced out my total. He simply symboled with his hand to give him my card. He didn't even ask me if I wanted a receipt. No words out if his mouth to me whatsoever. Super rude. The worse part about this whole scenario was that I found two bugs in my salad after eating almost half of the plate. I wanted to throw up. Pictures attached for reference. (The bug on the right looks like seasoning but I promise you it's definitely NOT. ItJaír soaked in dressing.) I definitely won't go back there.. bummer because it's close to work too. Check your food when you buy from here, or just don't risk it and make yo own! (I should've brought lunch!)

Eden is one of those last choice spots if you work in the area. Honestly go somewhere elseI have worked in the area for 8+ years and eden has always been there. I recently got a sandwich, soup and brownie from them. The sandwich was nothing special and had an overwhelming amount of Mayo and mustard on it. After finishing it, I had an itchy throat. I suspected it must have been the sandwich. I looked at my brownie and I noticed there was mold growing in it. Definitely not fresh. Very disappointed in eden cafe.

I got the chicken supreme and it was absolutely scrumptious. people were very nice. nice vibe, would recommend.

Picked up Too Good to Go and it was a container of salad and 2 smaller containers of pasta salad. The food was average, nothing special to write about. I wish it had more variety but it is ok. The service was fast, ready for pick up.
