I love this dance community.Community:-friendly-safe-fun-relaxed-good people-diverse ages-diverse life experiences-diverse skill levels-welcoming/people will ask you to danceVenue:-large floor-plenty of room to dance/not crowded-fairly informal, don't need to dress up-not too loud-good mix of fusion songs (great for blues dancers looking for something a little different)-variety of DJs -variety of instructors -run by people who dance at their venue & engage with their community/strive to improve-snacks :)This and the Wednesday dance at La Peña used to be my regular East Bay dance diet.

This is one of my favorite dance venues in the Bay area. It's fusion partner dancing, but you don't need a partner. Most people show up alone and either ask people to dance or solo dance. Just make sure you get here in time for the lesson if you're new to this type of dance!

East Bay Fusion is my favorite place to fusion dance -- a really welcoming & friendly community run by some excellent and caring dancers. There isn't too much pressure to dance, which I also appreciate, and plenty of people hang out & chat on the sidelines, or even dance by themselves if they feel like it. Fusion is a very rich but accessible dance form, which allows for people to draw from experience in other dance, & dancing with different people can bring a sense of infinite variety. I highly recommend coming by to check it out, & coming to the lesson at the beginning if you're new :)

I'm completely addicted, want to go every week. Fusion dancing mixes styles -- partner dance kind of like swing, ballroom, blues or tango... more for fun than for show. It's beginner friendly, just come to the lesson beforehand. You change partners every dance -- don't need to come with a partner. For me East Bay Fusion stands out as small and welcoming compared to weekend or San Francisco events, a gentle place for people new to partner dancing.
