I have hosted several events at this location (an event for my business, a clothing swap, a class), and attended many more events and parties since the space opened in February. As a host, the space is reasonably priced, clean, well-lit, conveniently located, and most importantly - completely wheelchair accessible. There are very few venues in the East Bay where the entire space is accessible. In this case, this includes the mezzanine (there is a lift), and there are 2 accessible bathrooms (of the 6 total bathrooms). I have also found that the space has adequate tables and chairs, as well as a small stage, a projector, and sound system, so I don't have the added expense of renting those things.I wish it had a kitchen (it has a fridge), but other than that, this space is awesome for lots of types of events! I already have another event booked there in November.

The EBCS is amazing. This review is from someone that rents space from the owners AND attends regular events offered here. I rent space here weekly for yoga, and I have also been here for MANY events. From potlucks, to dance events, co-working, private parties, women's workshops with Airial. this space also has a SAUNA! whaaaa? That is true. Great sound system, couches in the upstairs lounge, and a cool community growing. Main space entrance is on 55th and the Co-working "telegraph room" entrance is located on Telegraph. Easy parking, easy bus access on Telegraph (6/18 lines) and bike parking. This is an amazing space, welcoming diversity in a BIG way, offering many sliding scales on ALL the offerings to make it accessible for all. Super sweet owners, and highly recommend working with them. See calendar on their website for details of events! There are A LOT! Also, some free events!

Neat little community space still developing its community. Saw CelloMadness here on St.Patricks day. They're looking to develop programming and gain volunteers to teach. As well as I believe have the space for rental. So, if you're around and want to develop something new for the east bay, look these folks up! One note though in case someone who could effect change could see it: having a guy putting away chairs while a performance is still going on is super distracting. I get that it was st pats and people probably want to peace out and party. But, maybe a little slower next time, yeah? He took people's chairs while they were simply up using the restroom. Anyway, look forward to what programming the space may develop.

I work here on the regular, and I love it. Lovely people and space; tea/flatware/microwave when I want to heat up my lunch here; and private room upstairs for calls.

Great spot for classes, it is my regular yoga spot and I'm excited to learn they have affordable co-working spaces. The sauna is also nice.

Funny how the owner David left this comment responding to my review when he wasn't there and all of their trash cans were full from the previous party. So we proceeded to ask the lady who he left in charge who pretty much knew NOTHING and she told us to just leave it out there and she would take care of it so WE DID and that resulted in them taking our deposit. Sounds like a scam from the business to me. Employee tells you one thing, owners tell you another. Please people don't even bother getting scammed and I'm sure if I left the place in a mess, he would've taken photos. We cleaned up everything and even swept the place. These people are full of it, don't waste your time. Also took him a year to respond, never responded to any of the emails or calls. Scam likely , bravo!

I've hosted a film-screening and a book talk at the East Bay Community Space and I will return there for any such future events in the Bay Area. They are at once the most professional, friendly, affordable, justice-seeking venue I've found around here, truly committed to the well-being of the community, accessible to all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, and ability, and I can't recommend them enough.
