Double Rainbow Ice Cream

A reliable scoop of good no-frills ice cream! Since 1976 and with its first store opening in SF, Double Rainbow continues to be family owned and operated to this day, with both retail and wholesale distribution across the country. This location was a little sleepy in one of San Pablo's many plazas. I decided to stop by after a dinner run to Koi Sushi. There were a ton of flavors but I gravitated toward my childhood favorites, mint chocolate chip and butter pecan. Portion was hefty, scooper was friendly, and the taste was refreshing, creamy and nostalgic. They also have yummy looking custom ice cream cakes in the display and booths on the side if you want to dine in.I would return to satisfy the local ice cream fix and try the other flavors!

The ambiance at this ice cream shop is awesome! They gave us 60s diner vibes with a great selection of flavors and other options! The service we received was solid too.

Cake was great. Ordered cake 2 weeks in advance. Cake was ready on time, was exactly what I ordered and tasted lovely. Will definitely buy here again

Solid ice cream. Roughly 5-6$ a waffle cone scoop and usually quiet so not a lot of noise. I would recommend the banana walnut!

Delicious fresh ice cream. Classic mom and shop that has been around for years. Can't go wrong with any yummy flavor in a waffle cone or hot sundae. They even have pints for purchase of any flavor!

Great ice cream spot. Good variety of items, like ice cream, custards, sorbets, soy creams, and cakes.

This business has been around for years. I drove there at around 8:30 at night, 30 mins before closing. No customers were around, so it was very quiet. However the owner and second employee were there and attended to me promptly. There were still many flavors to choose from. I ordered a brownie sundae with rocky road and a pint of strawberry ice cream. I devoured that brownie sundae when I got home and I saved the pint in my freezer. I've been eating the pint over the past three or four days and it still tastes good. I'm picky about strawberry ice cream and this was pretty good, had actual strawberries in it.

Love coming here with my kids. They get banana splits, while I stick to the mostly slept on pistachio ice cream!

Delicious pumpkin and pralines and cream ice cream. They agreed to give me both hot fudge and caramel toppings! Super helpful service, and they even have booths to sit in.

Love this place in downtown Benicia! Very cute area. The girls who work here are superb, very friendly, helpful and always have a smile on their faces. I especially love that they're the only ones who serve soy ice cream - love the soy very cherry chip! Reminds me of Ben n Jerry's cherry Garcia but better in my opinion because it's soy! It's also wonderful that you can place an online order for pick up! Recently discovered this flavor this summer, hope it sticks around!
