Look at your receipt closely. They try charging more for many items compared to what is listed and hope you don't catch it. I'm talking about $3-4 dollars more on 3 items. They play dumb and won't honor the listed price on the displays.

They usually have what I need like a random can of tomatoes, a lemon, a bag of confectioner's sugar etc. The clerks are friendly in person and over the phone, and the beer selection is outstanding!

Do NOT shop here! The employees are rude and sarcastic and so unhelpful. I purchased an Apple that was ROTTING inside with a worm in it. I took it back and the man working at the counter was SO unhelpful. He gave me one dollar back and when I told him i bought two apples he rolled his eyes, hands me another dollar and said "here, it's just one more dollar". I've never been so grossed out and upset with a stores customer service. I used to shop here and will not be going back.

If you REALLY need to get a drink or what not, URGENTLY, well, go. Or if you're loaded with cash and you don't care how much you spend, go. Bear in mind that this place is unreasonably expensive for the quality and quantity of the stuff they sell.Walk down a few blocks to the Andronico's Market on Derby and Telegraph (2655 Telegraph) and you'd get a MUCH wider selection (duh!) that is much more reasonably priced.

Bad, bad, bad.I went to this place with my Moocho certificate, and it took me several minutes just to get an answer out of the salesman who was busy sitting at a table and chairs ("Do you work here?" I asked) about using it. He said - actually, I should say mumbled, because I couldn't hear half of what he was saying and had to ask him to repeat himself three times - a lot of things, like "I don't know what that is," "I can't call anyone" "I work here only two days a week" that made me think he's not too serious about customer service. I finally got him to call his manager, and when he hung up he said "we're not doing [that promotion] anymore." Dude, the expiration date is NEXT YEAR!These people are obviously not serious, steer clear and go somewhere that really values you.

5 minutes agoStore cashier profiled me. Went in to buy water and cigarettes, owner accused me of using a fake ID. I showed him my license, a picture of my passport, and even a tax form I had on me confirming who I was and they still told me to leave. They serve alcohol to college aged white kids all day with no problem but the moment I show up before work it's all of a sudden a problem. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to cvs where they actually treat people of color with dignity and respect.

This business is running a scam on grubhub. They are presenting themselves as "Pizza Derby", a new pizza restaurant. They take your money and order you a pizza from some other terrible pizza place...at least they're actually a real restaurant. the pizza shows up with the other restaurants delivery boxes.

When I first moved to Elmwood/south Berkeley, this spot seemed a bit rundown and neglected. The ownership change coincided with the pandemic more or less. Since spring 2020, the crew that runs the store has been a significant part of my neighborhood experience; they have put so much labor and care into the space, and are genuinely interested in catering to the needs of their regular clientele. I'm sad to be moving away and truly grateful for all they did for me this past year and a half.
