We've been here a few times to attend children and family-centered events. This place is conveniently located in the heart of Danville's downtown area. Parking is a vut of a challenge when there's an event, but we've always managed to find a place to park, even if it's a bit of a walk. The community center is just next to the library. It has a big open area for kids to explore and run around. During the summer, the center holds outdoor movie nights in this area. We just have to bring our own blankets and/or chairs. This is a vibrant center. It offers great programs for residents and visitors to the area. Kudos to the dedicated staff. Keep up the great work!

Whether or not you've ever thrown a parent a birthday party your official notice begins now: if they make it, you've an obligation to throw them one for their 90th. On the plus side, neither the one being feted nor many of the guests will mandate a party that runs more than a couple of hours and you can bet those hours will be daylight. Enter the Danville Community Center, where a close friend hosted a party for her mother's 90th. This is not the sort of space where food or drink is provided. If you want that you'll arrange for it separately, just as my friend did. She also self-managed a slide show, music, and a couple of group dances. The whole affair was perfect and the spacious, high-ceilinged room (with free on-site parking) was nicer than possibly any community center I've ever been to. While I'd not suggest the Danville Community Center to those who don't live in the East Bay if you do, and you're seeking an event venue, it is quite worth checking it out. Perhaps it might even inspire you to host an event.

Don't know if the staff is paid, or if they're volunteers... but it wouldn't hurt to be a bit friendlier when people are registering for classes

While I may think that the Danville Library is somewhat overdone, the Community Center, when it first opened, added something wonderful to the Town of Danville: a place to build a real Danville community. I took several classes here when I was kid ranging from swing dancing to theatre to women's self defense, and they offer much more than that. The facility (which is equipped with a kitchen, one large "rec room" and several smaller private meeting rooms) is available for rental for weddings (you can have a ceremony outside on the lawn under the gazebo) and other events.

The Toddler Gym class that is offered here every Tuesday morning is amazing for my son! He loves it. Therefore the main lady at the front desk, is not very nice and responds extremely rude to the people here waiting for classes to start.
